Cyanotype is a photographic process that produces blue prints. It was commonly used by engineers in the early 20th century to produce copies of drawings, known as blueprints. The process uses two chemicals, ammonium iron(III) citrate and potassium ferricyanide, which react upon exposure to UV light to leave a cyan-blue print. This week's assignment is to create a page about a cyanotype artist, including what cyanotype is and its history, and to create several cyanotype prints through experimenting with techniques like sponging and painting chemicals on different materials.
