- 2. ceramics If ceramics have accompanied the history of humanity since prehistoric times, there is certainly a reason. Flexible and manageable material, it represents both the raw material to create countless objects of various usefulness, and a form of artistic expression. In its many variations (majolica, terracotta, porcelain ...), the production of ceramics has touched many areas of our country. Caltagirone Ceramics is a type of ceramics elaborated in the homonymous center. It is one of the best known in Italy, as well as one of the most documented and stylistically varied.
- 3. Opera of the Pupi is a type of puppet theater. The deeds of these characters are treated through the reworking of the material contained in the novels and poems of the Carolingian cycle, the history of the Paladins of France and Orlando furioso. The puppets are precisely called puppets. The work is typical of the Sicilian tradition; there is already news of it in the eighteenth century, as documented by the puppeteer and scholar Enzo Mancuso. The Puppets Richly decorated, with a wooden structure, the puppets had real armor and varied in movements according to the school they belonged to in Palermo or Catania. The most evident difference was in the joints: the first light and articulated, the second heavier and with fixed limbs. Each pupo typically represents a specific paladin, characterized by the armor and the cloak. The armor and costumes of the puppet opera, however, were anachronistic.
