Handball :
Game played between two teams of 7 or 11
players who try to throw or hit an inflated
ball into a goal at either end of a
rectangular playing area while preventing
their opponents from doing so.
Handball court
measurement :
The playing court is 40m long and 20m wide,
with two goal areas and a playing area. The
longer boundary lines are called side lines,
and the shorter ones are called goal lines
(between the goalposts) or outer goal lines
(on either side of the goal).
Equipment :
The unique equipment used in handball are
the balls, goals, shoes, and handball wax.
The first things needed to play handball
are a ball, two goals,and a court.
Size of the
Handball:
The ball used in both is 58–60 cm weighs
425–475 grams (15–17 ounces) for men
For the women’s game: the ball is 54 to
56cm and 325 to 375g in weight.
Rules
A player may stop, catch, throw, bounce or strike
the ball in any manner and in any direction, using
hands, fists, arms, head, body, thighs or knees.
A player may not intentionally touch the ball with
any part of the body below the knee.
The ball is almost always played with the hands.
Length of game
and timing:
• The game consists of two 30 minute time
periods with a 10/15 minute rest in
between.
• All players alternate between an attacking
position and a defending position,
depending on who has possession of the
ball.
1. The most important skill in handball is
passing or throwing.
2. You need to be able to pass the ball
with accuracy.
3. Throwing and shooting drills are
normally incorporated into every
training session for handball.
