“to hit the ball while it is in the
air before it touches the
ground.”
Volleyball
is played by two teams
composed of six (6) players
each.
The players use their hands
and forearms to hit the ball back
and forth over the net.
HISTORY OF VOLLEYBALL
• The game volleyball was
invented and developed by
Dr. William G. Morgan in
1895 at the Young Men’s
Christian Association
(YMCA) in Holyoke,
Massachusetts, USA.

mintonette.
• It was originally intended for
the old patrons of YMCA
since basketball was too
vigorous for them.

The objective of
volleyball is to hit the ball
