• Designed, standardized, modified and controlled the sources for custom electrical components for all variants and
functional areas of the JSF aircraft; specializing in controlled impedance data bus cables, fiber optic cables,
interconnect devices, electromagnetic shielding parts and associated accessories.
• Proposed and led trade studies to replace Mil-Std-5015 connectors with Mil-Dtl-38999-style composite
connectors, traditional copper shields with blended Aracon and copper shields, and Raychem MTC connectors
with Deutsch ABC connectors, which yielded a lifecycle cost savings of $20 million.
• Designed the IEEE 1394 data bus (Firewire) used by Vehicle Systems for the STOVL variant of JSF and a secure
audio cable that included the qualification of suppliers’ products in accordance to eye pattern, E-field and H-field
requirements.
