Integrating UX into Voice of the Customer ProgramsKathi Kaiser
Centralis' Kathi Kaiser outlines the organizational challenges that limit the participation of user experience professionals in corporate "Voice of the Customer" initiatives.
Kaiser proposes a cross-functional model for UX, analogous to quality departments in hospitals or safety functions in manufacturing. An interdisciplinary UX Council integrates each department's unique perspective on customer needs, supported by a UX Strategy function to execute the priorities of the Council.
Kaiser urges UX professionals to adopt a cooperative, service-focused mentality when working with other departments to reduce in-fighting and focus organizational energy on the pursuit of success through meeting & exceeding customer needs.
Presented at the User Experience Professionals' Association annual conference, June, 2012.
In our first spring Engage meet-up we explored different ways of making IT more human-centered. Mauro Rego, owner at Boana, a Berlin based design studio for software, talked about designing for the back-office.

Twitter Sentiment Analysis in 10 Minutes Using Machine LearningSkyl.ai
About the webinar
Social media is one of the richest sources of data for brands. According to Domo's 'Data never sleeps' report, every single minute 456,000 tweets are posted on Twitter, 46,740 photos are uploaded on Instagram and 510,000 comments & 293,000 statuses are updated on Facebook. This data contains valuable information like product feedback or reviews and information that can be used to better understand users or find valuable insights. However, traditional ways struggle to analyze the unstructured data and this is where sentiment analysis using machine learning comes to the rescue!
Machine learning can help to understand the text and extract the sentiment using Natural Language Processing. Sentiment analysis can be applied in a range of business applications like - social media channel analysis, 360-degree customer insights, user reviews, competitive analysis, and many more.
What you'll learn
- How businesses are leveraging sentiment analysis to their advantage
- Best practice to automate machine learning models in hours not months
- Demo: How to build a twitter sentiment analysis model
Many analyses of developing compelling user experiences (UX) involve a theoretical understanding of key UX principles. However in this webinar, Belatrix´s UX experts Barbara Lipinski and Bruno Vilches, will provide a practical step-by-step guide through the UX process which we use at Belatrix. We will provide a case study of how we applied this process to a product.
What you will takeaway from this webinar:
* The principles and fundamentals underlying UX
* How to practically apply these principles to create a UX process
* Case study and our key learnings from applying the UX process

Activity – 30 minutes
Draft a user journey map.
1. Choose one target user and one goal
2. Use stickies to map out the user journey to
achieving that goal
3. Use stickies (colour-coded, if possible) to identify
what the user is thinking, feeling, and doing at each
point in the journey
4. Identify unknowns in a different colour marker or
stickie.

Design considerations:
What devices / sizes are you designing
for?
What level of accessibility is appropriate
for your product?
How will information be collected, used,
stored and protected?
What design tools will work best within
your team?
