The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) is the local version of the Home-Grown School
Feeding Programme (HGSP) that has a mandate to give one hot meal a day to school children in public schools
from kindergarten through to primary six. Launched in 2005 the programme has the goal of contributing to
poverty reduction and increased food security in Ghana. One of the key objectives of the programme is to
boost domestic food production by purchasing locally produce foodstuffs and providing a sustainable market
for local food producers in the community. To analyse the effect of the programme on rice production in four
districts in the Northern Region of Ghana, a formal cross section survey of 80 small holder rice farmers and 40
GSFP caterers, across the four districts was conducted. The translog production function was applied to
analyse the programme‟s effect on rice output while the probit model was used to analyse the factors
influencing rice farmers to supply to the programme on one hand and the factors affecting caterer‟s decision to
purchase rice from the rice farmers on the other. The results from the analysis of the production function shows
that the coefficients of farm labour, farm size, and fertilizer application were highly significant in increasing
farmers‟ output. While access to the GSFP had a positive influence on output it was statistically insignificant.
The results also show that majority of GSFP caterers buy rice from local millers and the market. The factors
which had significant influence on the caterers to buy from the rice farmer include availability of storage
facility, farmer‟s willingness to process the paddy rice and sell on credit, price of milled rice, and proximity of
rice farmers. The major conclusion of the study is that the effect of the programme on rice farmers output was
not significant. This was attributed to poor linkage between the farmers and the programme even though about
100 percent of rice consumed by the GSFP is produced locally

Nutritional deficiencies are very common in india as well as in other developing countries.both macro and micro nutrients are not eaten in adequate quantities in india due to poverty and ignorance. A number of national program are there to combat these deficiencies. But unfortunately effective implementation is lacking due to which nutritional deficiency is not being overcome in our country. Now due to covid -19 these are bound to increase
Half a century of growth and modernisation have increased average life expectancy in the Gulf by over 30 years. But it has also shifted lifestyle patterns, bringing new health challenges due to poor diet and sedentary lifestyles, with a sharp rise in diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease. Our new infographic, sponsored by Philips, explores how the state of health in the Gulf has shifted over the last 60 years and what the new challenges are for the region.

Epidemiological Rationale for Topic (Statistics Related to Topic): Two-thirds of adults in the US are obese. One-third of US children are overweight and 17% are obese. Excluding illnesses and other genetic factors, poor nutrition is a common factor leading to obesity.
Teaching Plan Criteria
Your teaching plan will be graded based on its effectiveness and relevance to the population selected. This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
Nursing Diagnosis: Imbalanced nutrition: more than body requirements related to deficient knowledge about nutritional needs, food intake, or food preparation.
Readiness for Learning: Identify the factors that would indicate the readiness to learn for the target aggregate. Include emotional and experiential readiness to learn.
· Voiced interest in improving nutritional habits
· Voiced concern over increasing weight in self or family members
· Psychological capacity to learn healthy nutrition habits
· Open and engaging body language
Learning Theory to Be Utilized: Explain how the theory will be applied.
The Behavior Learning Theory is the best approach to improve nutrition and healthy habits among children and families. With the behavioral approach, I will teach families how to incorporate healthy habits into their daily lifestyle. To accomplish this, I will create a pamphlet for families to take home with them that will include the information covered in my presentation. The pamphlet will also include a list of local resources that the family can use to continue their journey. During my presentation, I will teach families about the important food groups and how much of each should be including in each meal. My presentation will focus on healthier alternatives and ways to modify their current eating habits rather than restricting them from foods ...
Presented at the European Obesity Forum which took place in Bucharest on October 16th, the presentation describes the concept "Healthy Living" and outcome of its first school-based pilot in ORT junior-high schools.

Overview
The Massachusetts Childhood Obesity Research Demonstration Project, known as Mass In Motion, is a state-wide initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle in places where people work, live and play. The initiative was funded by in 2011 by a grant through the Affordable Care Act with a goal to create a multilevel and multisector intervention strategy to prevent and control obesity, combining interventions in the health care setting with public health interventions in the community. (Davison et al., 2015)The project was designed to be a comprehensive wellness initiative, incorporating evidence-based interventions in primary healthcare with community programs, WIC and other nutrition programs, as well as early childhood education centers and schools/afterschool programs. The goal was to form a partnership among the many different social and environmental factors that effect a child’s health and well-being, as well as to identify and target these factors to institute a change in health behaviors. (MA-CORD Study Group, 2015)
The program began as a part of a 2009 initiative started by Governor Deval Patrick which funded projects in 14 cities and towns across Massachusetts. In 2011 the state was awarded a grant through the CDC which allowed the program to be expanded to cover 52 Massachusetts cities and towns, impacting 33% of the state population, and as of 2014 there are 60 cities and towns with active Mass in Motion projects. While the main focus of the CORD component, funded by the CDC was on children 2-12 year sold, the Mass In Motion program has also developed programs for improving worksite health and overall community health. These programs have increased workplace productivity, lowered stress levels, encouraged weight loss, and improved green space across the state. (Mass in Motion, 2016)
Theoretical Approach
The framework of Mass in Motion is the social ecological model, a model which looks at the complex relationships between an individual, his/her personal relationships, community, institutional elements, community, and overall social policy. This framework is not designed to distinguish one factor as a reason or cause for the obesity, but rather looks at the interaction of these factors and how they can effect individual risk for obesity. The MA-CORD Study Group then developed interventions based on Social Cognitive Theory, recognizing and emphasizing the importance of social influence and reinforcement for behavior change.
Figure 1. MA-CORD Intervention Sectors
As seen in Figure 1, the project is designed to combat childhood obesity by impacting the individual and environmental factors that can contribute to living a non-healthy lifestyle. At the individual level, children and parents are both given information and support to develop healthy habits while in the school .

Executive Summary
Fuel Your Brain, Not Your Belly is a program that has been developed in hopes
of reducing rates of obesity. With Michigan having one of the highest rates of obesity in
the United States, it is time to take charge and implement a program that will reduce this
life threatening epidemic. Obesity stems from a lack of knowledge in nutrition and
exercise. This program will involve building a foundation for the children within their
schools in the West Bloomfield School District that will educate them on how to live a
long, healthy life. If children are taught from a young age about how to stay healthy and
fuel their brains, there is no doubt that we can reduce rates of obesity. We are requesting a grant in the amount of $50,000 from The Gates Foundation to assist in funding the startup costs of our venture. These startup costs include the costs of local produce, nutrition days, raising awareness, and Fuel Your Brain goody bags which include helpful take home information for the children.
Proposal Description
Children that grow up with a lack of knowledge in nutrition and exercises to stay
healthy, tend to have a greater chance of becoming obese. When a child lacks knowledge
of proper nutrition and a steady exercise routine, they are not only affecting their physical appearance. The inside of their bodies are significantly affected. Obesity decreases an
individual’s life expectancy, reduces attention span and ...
