The South Asian Drought Monitoring System is a collaboration between multiple organizations to develop a regional drought monitoring system for South Asia. The system will provide weekly drought risk maps and early warnings at regional, national, and local levels. It will enhance understanding of drought onset, progression and severity. Technical development is led by the International Water Management Institute using remote sensing and ground data. National capacity for drought monitoring will also be built in participating countries.
