This document provides information on a project to improve cyclone early warning and preparedness in Bangladesh. The project will develop the capacity of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department to forecast cyclone formation, track, and landfall up to 7 days in advance with 9km resolution modeling. It will also enhance coastal inundation forecasting. The forecasts will be demonstrated in 5 coastal unions to test their ability to reduce disaster risks. Key activities include customizing a weather model, establishing cyclone and storm surge forecasting systems, developing a coastal inundation model and decision support system, and building national and local capacity. The goal is to strengthen early warning of cyclones and flooding to minimize loss of life and damage.
