A Songwriting Analysis Essay
A Songwriting Analysis
There is one thing that is vital to every musician and that is songwriting. Whether they right the
songs or not they must have something original to sing and play before they can even try to be a
success. Songwriting is a craft that almost anyone who really enjoys music has tried his or her
hand at. Songs have the power to inspire, unite, and comfort a person unlike any other form of
media. Record companies are always on the lookout for the next number one single and while
some songs are completely unique and original most of the biggest singles in the past history have
all had things in common that made them so popular. The really good memorable songs of the past
have all generally had a least some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rollingstone recently did a list of what they thought to be the one hundred greatest pop hits. By
taking a few songs from this list it is possible to examine some of these characteristics that make a
great song. One of the most memorable and timeless songs in history would have to be Rolling
Stones Satisfaction. In the Rollinstone article they ranked this song as being the second greatest
pop song of all time right under the Beatles Yesterday. This song is centered on a guitar riff that
lead guitarist Keith Richards almost while sleeping. He woke up with the riff in his mind,
recorded it on a tape player, and then immediately fell back asleep. This guitar riff is the hook of
the song, which had immediate appeal and connection for the listener. The hook and immediate
mass appeal were two of the techniques mentioned earlier as a character of a successful song. The
song also touched the emotional chord of the listener with intense lyrics that made cultural
commentary in the sixties the song was destined to be a hit. It was at number one for four weeks,
on the charts for fourteen weeks, and was the song that propelled the Rolling Stones from a decent
band into one of the greatest rock bands of all time. An example of a song that was successful
more because of its lyrical content rather than mostly its musical aspect is Michael Jackson s Billie
Jean. The song was one of Jackson s first attempts at songwriting

Battle Of Wounded Knee Analysis
Throughout history, the Battle of Wounded Knee has remained a sensitive topic due to lack of
clarity and communication that coincided between the parties involved during these events. Author,
Stew Magnuson, translated his interpretation of this controversial portion of United States history
through his book, known as Wounded Knee 1973: Still Bleeding. Although Magnuson seems to
take an unclear and sometimes neutral stance on the issue, Russell Means actions and views are
often depicted as just and within reason. With the exception of a few aggressive incidents, Means
seemed to possess the role of a fallen hero throughout the series of events that can be identified
today as the repercussions of the Battleof Wounded Knee. Parallel to the characteristics of a fallen
hero, Russell Means called major attention to the racial inequalities within the U.S., heavily
depended on his personal moral code , and experienced major trials and losses throughout his fight
for justice.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout Means involvement with the American Indians Movement (AIM), he was well known
as a leader and spokesman for the group because of his ability to give empowering speeches. While
holding this position, he was consistent with communicating to the media and public about AIM
and their overall goals. According to Magnuson, the images of freedom fighters defying the mighty
United States government were transmitted around the world (Magnuson,48). Because Means
recognized that the most effective way to spread awareness on American Indian violence would be
to notify popular media platforms, he was able to generate a lot more attention towards AIM s
cause and racial

Spongy Bone Essay
Bone is made up of two types of structure which are the compact bone and the spongy bone.
Compact bone lies over spongy bone and makes up most of a bone s diaphysis, it consist of
compactly arranged osteons which is the Harvesian system. Compact bone able to protect, supports
and resist stress. Spongy bonemakes up most of the mass short, flat and irregular bones and is also
found at the epiphyses of long bones. It stores marrow and provides some support. The size of the
bone grow throughout childhood and adolescence as our body produces more bone than it loses.
At some point in life, human will be at their peak bone mass density (BMD) which is the end of
the bone growth. For normal human being, the BMD usually stays constant as the break down and
regeneration of bone is equal. However, for certain people, the bone loses is more than the
regeneration and production which then cause osteoporosis.... Show more content on

Cancellous bone is more active and is broken down and regenerated more quickly than compact
bone. Because of this, cancellous bone is more likely to be affected when the break down and
regeneration of bone are out of balance in osteoporosis. The cells that are responsible for the
BMD to stay constant is osteoblasts and osteoclasts. The function of osteoblasts is that it
produces new bone matrix in a process called ossification while osteoclasts are cells that remove
and recycle bone matrix. For a normal bone, there is a balance between the action of osteoblasts
and osteoclasts but in osteoporotic bone, the activity of the osteoclasts in removing bone matrix is
faster than the osteoblasts can form a new bone matrix. This results in a net bone lose.
Osteoporosis can also lead to thinning of both the compact bone and cancellous bone which makes
bone more fragile to

Power And Control In The Visit By Frank Durrenmatt
Well known writer, Friedrich Durrenmatt, in his drama, The Visit, conveys the idea in which
Claire Zachanassian embodies aggregate power and control, and she uses those features to
dehumanize the people of Gullen throughout the play. Durrenmatt s purpose is to illustrate that
money can buy power, and power is what leads to all disorder and chaos. He adopts a striking and
staggering tone in order to express how humanity is so easily purchased by mere paper. Claire
Zachanassian symbolizes power by frightening and intimidating the people of Gullen into doing her
bidding and dirty work. Claire holds herself throughout the play as though she is better than any,
and everyone around her, and that is continuously publicized throughout the entirety... Show more

When Claire, and Koby and Loby are talking to the butler about what happened to the two men,
they stated, The lady tracked us down, the lady tracked us down. She gave us to Toby and Roby.
She gave us to Toby and Roby. {They} castrated and blinded us. Castrated and blinded us.
(Durrenmatt). By doing this, Claire shows that her money can justly buy anything, literally.
Because The Pair lied to the court many years before about falsely sleeping with her, she decided
to make them pay. When she figured out she was pregnant, she was confused and helpless. Alfred
Ill, supposedly, put Koby and Loby up to a bet offering the two money if they lied and said that
they slept with Claire. When this statement from the two men was put into question, everyone in
town turned against Claire and shunned her. She was forced to leave town and hide from the shame
everyone thought she should have had. Claire stated, I became a prostitute. The courts verdict
turned me into one. She was condemned to misery, and she wanted to make anyone who made her

A Research Study On Sex Trafficking Study Essay
As far as the reliability was concerned in the study I believe there should be no concern. The
individuals in the study were all young women of whom were adjudicated from 1990 to 2011l. If
there was any reason to believe that their information was not reliable one could check into police
records and other background checks that were available. The presence of the court files helps with
the researchstudy being reliable. If those files did not exist, one would question the reliability of the
stories from younger ladies. To adjust for the credibility, the researcher obtained information from
official criminal histories, interviews from offenders and law enforcement records (Hargreaves
Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34).
Sample
When looking for a sample for a research project one must be sure that it is going to provide us
with the answers to the questions we are looking to answer and it represents the sample that was
in mind (Yegidis et al., 2012, p. 210). In the sex trafficking study, the researchers had obtained
their participants by selecting 179 survivors of young ladies who had performed the act of sex
trafficking. The ladies were selected from a pool of women who had been adjudicated between
1990 2011 (Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). After reading the who research study I
do feel that the sample size was effective and it gave the results that the researchers were looking
for. The authors did not offer any justification for the sample size that was selected.

Pros And Cons Of The PMRC
The PMRC is Parents Music Resource Center which was formed in 1985 by a couple of women
who are married to politicians in Washington DC. The goal of this committee is to place parental
advisory stickers on rock and heavy metal music that they deemed to promote rape, suicide, drugs,
and teen pregnancy.
In one sense, the PRMC does get the expected results. First, they had already listed 15 albums
(the Filthy 15 ) they wanted to be banned. Most of them were rock songs specifically hard rock or
metal songs. Second, the PMRC push for a rating system and it is similar to the one in place for
movies. They required that albums with violent and hateful messages must include Parental
Advisory Sticker on the front cover. Also, PRMC established a rating system for concerts, and
printed lyrics on album covers... ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Labeling music with warning labels is not applied in today s society. First, violent and hateful
lyrics in music will continue to be prevalent and people will continue to purchase and enjoy such
music, despite the negative effects it has on young children. Take one example, in1996 Marilyn
Manson release Anti Christ Superstar album brings the topic of violent lyrics into the national
spotlight. In the same year, a 15 years old North Dakota boy suicide attributed to the music of
Marilyn Manson, and lyrics glorifying violence, bodily harm and suicide. Second, the parental
advisory sticker has become a relic in nowadays. Those stickers are beginning to encouraged sales
among rebellious youth. Thirdly, the advent of downloading and streaming services also led to the
warning sticker s obsolescence completely. Young people do not need to spend money on the
albums. They can just go to online and google it, then they can easily listen to the music and see the

The Education System And The American Educational System
The culture in and surrounding Uganda has fascinated me for a year or two now. I went to
Kabale Uganda for a mission trip during my spring break of senior year. I was able to teach the
students there for two weeks with my team and fell in love with it instantly. That trip spurred my
desire to teach in less fortunate countries once I finish college.
Once of the most significant differences between the Ugandan educational system and the
American educational system that I saw was that access to education was so limited in Uganda. In
1997 Uganda initiated what they called Universal Primary Education (UPE), which aims to
decrease poverty by making primary (elementary) school free, there by more accessible to it s
students. (Bategeka and Okurut, 2006). The problem with UPE is that the government decides
what schools will be part of the UPE program. Which means, the more remote areas may not
have a school that is supported by UPE in walking distance. There is no other form of
transportation for these students, it is highly uncommon for a family to own a car, and if they re
extremely fortunate they may own a bicycle. This forces the students to go to a boarding school
(Outreach Uganda, 2009). The boarding fees are around $2.00 in U.S. currency a semester. At first
appeared to be very manageable to me until I was told while in Uganda that $2.00 in American
currency converted to the Ugandan currency was roughly 2700 shillings That is more than my
college tuition that theses families

Resilience And Adversity
Resilience The Power to Overcome Adversity
The life of Nelson Mandela has inspired many to pursue the essence of resilience and the ways in
which people recover from adversity to strength. The argument lies in whether resilience is a born
quality or something that could be learned. In looking to find the answer to this question, I had to
read several articles on the subject which turned out to be quite of a challenge, but most of the
information available concluded that resilience is a process that is learned versus something that
which is innate. It s a process that is learned from self motivation, life experiences and continual
learning versus a quality that one is born with.
Resilience is the outcome of successful adaptation to adversity ... Show more content on

Insight is built on the experience of having been understood by a caring and attentive other and is a
product of secure attachment. Consistent experiences of empathic attunement deepen our capacity
for insight and reality testing. As we mature emotionally and cognitively we broaden our ability to
recognize and appreciate others subjectivity and separateness as well as the capacity to reflect on
our own experience. Inherent to this is an appreciation that other behaviors are not necessarily
directed toward us, even when we are affected by them. These abilities are essential to resilience in
that they allow us to tolerate experiences of existential isolation. It was this constellation of
qualities that allowed Mandela to persevere in the struggle against apartheid and sustained him
during the years spent on Robin Island.
In the face of adversity, one has to be open to acceptance. The resilient individual is sustained by an
inherent capacity for acceptance; that is an ability to accept what cannot be changed and ultimately
embracing the life that one has been given. At times, this may involve a willingness to surrender,
and nearly always, it demands an openness to love others as they

Barbarians In The Odyssey
Last but definitely not least, Polyphemos from the Odyssey is by far at the tip of that barbarians
scale. In the beginning passage about Polyphemus, he is presented as quite gentle with his heard
of sheep while milking them, this give no indication to him being uncivilized and violent
(Homer, pg. 143). But as the story progress, the audience can sense that he is less and less similar
to their ideal of a Greek citizens. Polyphemus expressed that the Cyclopes do not concern
themselves with Zeus since they are far better than the gods, this means he does not adhere to the
same religious system as the Greeks do (Homer, pg. 144). Not only that, Polyphemus does not

Institutional living was a phenomenon between 1660 and 1800 which housed persons to be
considered in poverty, incapacitated and unable to integrate in normal society namely the sick, mad
and handicapped were incarcerated. Development of the industrial society implemented processes
towards aptitude for the industrial system which excluded many disabled people (Roulstone
Prideaux, 2008). By 1834 the act defined the workhouse as a staging post for dangerous lunatics
that were progressed to specialist asylums. The eighteenth century workhouses were institutional
settings with the largest history of housing disabled people. The new poor law which was the
amendment act of the Poor Law Act 1834, excluded inappropriate dependency, as a consequence it
removed political rights from disabled people deeming them unfit for democracy or political
citizenship (Borsay, 2005). The civil rights of disabled people detained in workhouses on grounds
of mental impairment were defective, excluding them from mainstream society with little freedom
of movement (Frazer, 2003).

The Impact Of Sports And Sports In Elizabethan England
There were many sports that made popular by citizens in Elizabethan England. Nobles most often
participated in sports such as archery, bowling, dice, hammer throwing and most known tennis (
Alchin Elizabethan Sports ). These nobles watched wrestling and blood sports including bear and
bull baiting and dog and cock fighting. The queen often appeared at these events (Alchin
Elizabethan Bear Bull Baiting ). Sports began to come from other countries and continents as
people would travel to england. Tennis was the most popular sport by the upper classes and
originated in medieval France.
Sports presented an opportunity as a release for England s people. The most popular sport was bear
baiting which first became business in the mid 1500s. People s lives involved bull baiting and
arenas formed to host these spectacles. Philip Henslowe established dedicated animal fighting
arenas in Thames (Alchin Elizabethan Bear Bull Baiting ). The noisy, blood arenas were
popular, and considered the main competition to the plays put on at theaters. These spectacles
gave people a place to get away and watch a beloved event (Andrews). Golf s popularity was short
lived. King James VI of Scotland made it popular while he reined (Baker 86). Believed to have
been popular solely for the reason of the King playing it along with his mother.

Common Names Research Paper
The name is a very powerful thing. A name is typically the first thing someone learns about
someone else. Simply a name can describe an individual s identity. Names do not only tell a
person s story, they also shape an identity and are impactful and important. The first impressions an
individual makes about someone else are often based upon his or her name. When a personhears a
familiar or common name, a positive image often comes to mind. Meanwhile, individuals with
unique and different names are often subjected to judgment based upon the assumptions of first
impressions of others. Every name has a certain identity and is chosen for a specific reason. These

Assumptions are based solely on a name and this first impression can be negative. Those with
unusual names are viewed differently and negatively compared to others. Being viewed negatively
impacts personality and generates insecurities. Research has found that, a name that is perceived as
too different may actually have an adverse effect on your child later in life (Willets). Essentially, it
is sought to be harder for those with complex names to receive jobs. This is because unique names
could put a halt to their career and life. A study found that a resume submitted under a perceived
African American name received less attention from employers than the identical resume bearing a
more Caucasian name (Goudreau). These assumptions are cultivated because people feel that they
do not share a connection with someone who an uncommon name, thus, they immediately draw
negative conclusions about the person through their name. While those assumptions are often
wrong, they can have a considerable influence on one s life and identity. The self esteem of an
individual with a less desirable name also contributes to their identity. When people are judged by

Sustainability, Well Being, Welfare Essay
Keywords: sustainability; well being; welfare 1. Introduction
The term sustainability has ended up prevalent in arrangement situated exploration as a declaration
of what open strategies should accomplish. The essential motivation originated from the Brundtland
Report of 1987 (1). From that point forward the idea has moved in importance. This paper contends
that the movement is terrible in that it darkens the genuine inconsistency which exists between long
term maintainability and transient welfare. Also, the refinement between three pillars of
sustainability is reasonably fluffy. We propose a definition that returns to the first sense in which the
idea was expected.
Notwithstanding, this paper does not profess to offer a far reaching perspective of the issue of
maintainability. It displays a basic perspective of how the term is utilized as a part of approach
open deliberation and in effect evaluation the arrangement of strategies utilized as a part of
connected exploration to assess strategies and undertakings.

Shortly after wresting its independence from Habsburg Spain, the Dutch Republic quickly ascended

Republic had overcome the limitations of its size and available ecological resources through its
innovative financial and commercial institutions and was enjoying a hundred years of commercial

foreseeable future, but by the end of the seventeenth century, domestic production and overseas
dominance was waning. A series of global conjunctures, including several naval wars and an

The Incredible Instrument That is The Saxophone Essays
When people think of the saxophone, some items that come to mind are jazz music, golden metal,
and Kenny G. The saxophone consists of these, but it is also so much more. Playing the saxophone
is a great experience that everyone should try. Although playing the saxophone may take some
money and time, it is a great investment because it is a unique instrument with many benefits.
There are many different kinds of saxophones, but only a few are commonly used. The most
common ones include the alto, baritone, tenor and soprano saxophones. Most tyros start on the alto
saxophone. After learning the rudiments of the alto, players then can transition to a different kind of

When played correctly, the saxophone creates a sumptuous sound that is able to fill a whole room.
Sound has to be produced just right though, or else the result will be a high pitched squeak. The
sound from the saxophone is made when one blows air into the mouthpiece, which causes a
wooden reed to vibrate. Different pitches are produced when the air column is lengthened or
shortened by pushing the keys up and down. The book Music: An Illustrated Encyclopedia, written
by Neil Ardley, illustrates the importance of having keys, or buttons, on woodwind instruments
such as the saxophone. ...woodwind instruments can produce more than 40 notes even though the
player has only eight fingers and two thumbs with which to get them [keys]. (29) Being able to
produce so many notes is a great benefit to saxophone players because they can undulate between
notes and octaves more easily than other instruments. The saxophone is considered one of the
easiest instruments to play. Even neophytes are able to make a noise on the saxophone (even if it
is more of a squeak). To make sound on a brass instrument, such as the trumpet, one needs to purse
his lips just right, which can be difficult for many people. Also, brass players have a more difficult
time changing octaves (high and low notes) than reed players because they need to change their
whole mouth position instead of pushing a single button. So although playing an instrument such
as the saxophone may seem like

A Maximum Wage Research Paper
People have different views about whether governments should introduce a maximum wage.
While in some ways it may seem reasonable to allow people to earn as much as companies are
willing to pay, I personally believe that employee remuneration should be capped at a certain
level. There are various reasons why it might be considered beneficial to allow people to be paid
extremely high salaries. If companies offer excellent pay packages, they can attract the most
talented people in their fields to work for them. For example, technology companies like Google
are able to employ the best programmers because of the huge sums that they are willing to pay.
Furthermore, these well paid employees are likely to be highly motivated to work hard and therefore

`Recently, scholars have analyzed King s (2003) chapter You ll Never Believe What Happened is
Always a Good Way to Start, with the intent to discover King s rhetorical techniques and overall
purpose. At the time of his speech, the world was predominantly scientific, capitalistic, Judeo
Christian (p.12). Firstly, Cassandra Plettell (2017) found that King utilizes ethos to demonstrate
how stories may alter an individual s perception (p.2). Similarly, Emma Murphy (2017) found that
King uses ethos and pathos that portrays the idea that stories have the ability to greatly impact
individuals lives (p.2). Then, Ajodeji Edna Adetimechin (2017) found that King uses ethos, pathos,
and logos to convince his audience of the influential power that stories have in shaping
perspectives (p.2). In general, they have found that King s purpose is regarding the influential
powers of stories with the use of ethos, pathos and/or logos. In addition to Plettell, Murphy and
Adetimechin s finding, I would like to go a step further and argue that King s overall purpose is to
persuade the audience that the Genesis creation story has formulated a culture that lacks
forgiveness, compassion, and unity (King, 2003, pp.24 27). Inclusively, I will argue how King
utilizes his personal experiences with stories, emotional appeals, and writing arrangement in order

In the corporate setting, capitalism plays an important role in the sense that it helps ensure that the
decisions made by leaders, such as the CEOs, take into consideration the company s or stockholders
interest in gaining profit (PeГ±aloza Barnhart, 2011). This implies that it compels business leaders
to make decisions that minimize loses while increasing the profitability of the firm. In most
occasions, this is accomplished through the application of the utilitarian and Kantian approach to
decision making. However, it s important to note that the central implication of public capitalism is
that of helping foster corporate decision making based on the broader effort to promote the public
good (PeГ±aloza Barnhart, 2011).

The Show, Mad Men, By Roger Sterling
Some people believe that the more money a person has, the less satisfied the person is in life.
Women s emotions are not affected the same, but some women s emotions are affected
differently by dealing with different men with different income compared to other men. The
show, Mad Men, takes place in the 1960 s New York, portraying the life of the protagonist, Don

owned by Roger Sterling (John Slattery). Don Draper is praised for his work, but many of the
employees in the company, like Draper, are filled with arrogance and disrespect that not only the

how to stop John F. Kennedy s campaign on the air, and how Don is trying to figure out to leave
Sterling Cooper Agency and work for McCann Erikson Firm, a different advertising agency.
Throughout the episode, many can notice the men degrading and utilizing the women in the

more successful. Betty s expectation to be a dutiful, nurturing mother is displayed in her mother

More issues such as sickness, and death arose due to the overcrowding of people and the
unsanitary conditions they lived in. Thomas B. Macaulay, a social historian, states people live
longer because they are better fed, better lodged, better clothed, and better attended in sickness.
(Doc 3) This without a doubt means that if people had better conditions in living, and not as
much overcrowding, they would live longer. One big issue that was an ongoing problem during
this time was disease and infection. Disease would take a lot of lives, and people could not do
anything about it because, because they did not know how to fight it. Edwin Chadwick stated

Analysis Of Thoreau s Walden s The Woods
Transcendentalism is a philosophical movement that began in the early nineteenth century in
America. One of the major tenets of transcendentalism is that society and social institutions corrupt
the purity of an individual. Transcendentalists believe that individuals should believe in themselves
and not conform to others beliefs. They think that society is a major reason why individuals lack
self determination and the ability to possess their own values.
Henry David Thoreau, one of the major transcendentalist composed a philosophical

He believes that slavery is an immoral action that should banned. He feels disturbed by the
government for their involvements in the Mexican American war and their actions in expanding
slavery. Thoreau realizes that the government uses laws and restrictions forcefully to make
individuals conform. In this way, individuals are forced to comply to the government actions
despite opposing them. Thoreau refuses to pay his poll taxes as a way to protest the Mexican
American war and the expansion of slavery in the South. He believes that individuals should oppose
the government by not paying for taxes if they believe that the government is corrupt. Thoreau s
opposition to the government collides with transcendentalism because they believe that society
corrupts the intuition of an individual. Transcendentalists encourage individuals to follow their
own will and oppose to things they disagree with like the corruption of the government. In
addition to the criticism of the government, Thoreau feels disappointed at people conforming to
society s standard. Thoreau prefers his old clothes than new and extravagant ones. I say, beware
of all enterprises that require new clothes, and not rather a new wearer of clothes. If there is not

ability of a cancer cell to undergo migration and invasion allows it to change position within the
tissues. Metastasis consists of five steps which are termed the metastatic cascade (Fig. 1). These
five steps of cascade are invasion and migration, intravastion, circulation, extravasation,
Colonization, proliferation and angiogenesis. Various cellular processes like de regulated cell
growth, loss of cell cell adhesion, migration through the underlying interstitial stroma, altered
survival signaling which support metastatic spread, therapy resistance and unrestricted tumor
growth, facilitate these five step of metastatic cascade. Massive metastatic... Show more content on

The factors limiting the growth of malignant neoplasm include the basal membrane and various
components of the surrounding stroma, increased interstitial pressure, limited oxygen supply to
tumor cells and the formation of active oxygen forms, hypoxia conditions, and permanent exposure
to immune system cells. Given the intra tumoral heterogeneity, in the struggle for survival, some
tumor cells may be subjected to regression and death, while other cells, which resist powerful,
counteracting micro environmental factors, gain an aggressive phenotype and the ability of
metastatic progression. Invasive tumor growth is enabled by the detachment of malignant cells
from the tumor mass due to a reduction in or complete loss of intercellular adhesion molecules,
and, therefore, the cells gain the ability of anomalously high motility enabling penetration through
the stiff structural elements of the surrouss means the ability to thrust aside adjacent tissues, and
also to actively invade and, therefore, destroy these

Essay on Dr. Mengele
The life story of Josef Mengele is one that is filled many twists and turns that play out like a
suspense story with an ending that does not seem to fit what one would expect. The authors of the
book Mengele: The Complete Story, Gerald L. Posner and John Ware, wrote this book largely with
information taken from diaries and letters of Mengeleamp;#8217;s, and interviews with those who
knew him. It is a look into the life and times of a man whose nickname was amp;#8220;The Angel
of Death. ; Josefamp;#8217;s life and post mortem fate could be divided into three different
chapters. His pre war life and life during World War II was one of privilege and freedom to satisfy
his perverse desire to perform bizarre and mostly useless medical... Show more content on

However, this man who exhibited a sense of strength and fierceness to his victims was neither
physically or emotionally strong. He was very insecure about his physical appearance, and
constantly thought people were out to get him. He felt he had to belittle others accomplishments
in order to make himself feel more confident. Mengele especially hated gypsies, and viewed them
as more of a subspecies than other groups he killed. The following passage, which comes from
Mengele amp;#8217;s arrest warrant, which detailed his heinous crimes, illustrates his disregard for
their lives:
amp;#8220;..On May 25th, 1943, Mengele sent 1035 gypsies suspected of typhus to the gas
chamber, and on May 25th and 26th he spared those Gypsies who were German while he sent
approximately 600 others to be gassed. ;(p. 25 par.1)
What is ironic about this hatred is that Mengele himself was far from being considered physically
superior to anyone. In fact, amp;#8220;since childhood, he had been self conscious of his slightly
tawny skin, his penetrating brown green eyes, and his dark hair. At school he endured taunts from
his classmates about his Gypsy looks. ;(p. 25 par. 2) It could be seen that his contempt for Gypsies
might have arisen due to trauma he endured during childhood from others, as well as a self imposed
trauma he brought upon himself, due to his

  • 3. A Songwriting Analysis Essay A Songwriting Analysis There is one thing that is vital to every musician and that is songwriting. Whether they right the songs or not they must have something original to sing and play before they can even try to be a success. Songwriting is a craft that almost anyone who really enjoys music has tried his or her hand at. Songs have the power to inspire, unite, and comfort a person unlike any other form of media. Record companies are always on the lookout for the next number one single and while some songs are completely unique and original most of the biggest singles in the past history have all had things in common that made them so popular. The really good memorable songs of the past have all generally had a least some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rollingstone recently did a list of what they thought to be the one hundred greatest pop hits. By taking a few songs from this list it is possible to examine some of these characteristics that make a great song. One of the most memorable and timeless songs in history would have to be Rolling Stones Satisfaction. In the Rollinstone article they ranked this song as being the second greatest pop song of all time right under the Beatles Yesterday. This song is centered on a guitar riff that lead guitarist Keith Richards almost while sleeping. He woke up with the riff in his mind, recorded it on a tape player, and then immediately fell back asleep. This guitar riff is the hook of the song, which had immediate appeal and connection for the listener. The hook and immediate mass appeal were two of the techniques mentioned earlier as a character of a successful song. The song also touched the emotional chord of the listener with intense lyrics that made cultural commentary in the sixties the song was destined to be a hit. It was at number one for four weeks, on the charts for fourteen weeks, and was the song that propelled the Rolling Stones from a decent band into one of the greatest rock bands of all time. An example of a song that was successful more because of its lyrical content rather than mostly its musical aspect is Michael Jackson s Billie Jean. The song was one of Jackson s first attempts at songwriting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Battle Of Wounded Knee Analysis Throughout history, the Battle of Wounded Knee has remained a sensitive topic due to lack of clarity and communication that coincided between the parties involved during these events. Author, Stew Magnuson, translated his interpretation of this controversial portion of United States history through his book, known as Wounded Knee 1973: Still Bleeding. Although Magnuson seems to take an unclear and sometimes neutral stance on the issue, Russell Means actions and views are often depicted as just and within reason. With the exception of a few aggressive incidents, Means seemed to possess the role of a fallen hero throughout the series of events that can be identified today as the repercussions of the Battleof Wounded Knee. Parallel to the characteristics of a fallen hero, Russell Means called major attention to the racial inequalities within the U.S., heavily depended on his personal moral code , and experienced major trials and losses throughout his fight for justice.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout Means involvement with the American Indians Movement (AIM), he was well known as a leader and spokesman for the group because of his ability to give empowering speeches. While holding this position, he was consistent with communicating to the media and public about AIM and their overall goals. According to Magnuson, the images of freedom fighters defying the mighty United States government were transmitted around the world (Magnuson,48). Because Means recognized that the most effective way to spread awareness on American Indian violence would be to notify popular media platforms, he was able to generate a lot more attention towards AIM s cause and racial ... Compact bone lies over spongy bone and makes up most of a bone s diaphysis, it consist of compactly arranged osteons which is the Harvesian system. Compact bone able to protect, supports and resist stress. Spongy bonemakes up most of the mass short, flat and irregular bones and is also found at the epiphyses of long bones. It stores marrow and provides some support. The size of the bone grow throughout childhood and adolescence as our body produces more bone than it loses. At some point in life, human will be at their peak bone mass density (BMD) which is the end of the bone growth. For normal human being, the BMD usually stays constant as the break down and regeneration of bone is equal. However, for certain people, the bone loses is more than the regeneration and production which then cause osteoporosis.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cancellous bone is more active and is broken down and regenerated more quickly than compact bone. Because of this, cancellous bone is more likely to be affected when the break down and regeneration of bone are out of balance in osteoporosis. The cells that are responsible for the BMD to stay constant is osteoblasts and osteoclasts. The function of osteoblasts is that it produces new bone matrix in a process called ossification while osteoclasts are cells that remove and recycle bone matrix. For a normal bone, there is a balance between the action of osteoblasts and osteoclasts but in osteoporotic bone, the activity of the osteoclasts in removing bone matrix is faster than the osteoblasts can form a new bone matrix. Power And Control In The Visit By Frank Durrenmatt Well known writer, Friedrich Durrenmatt, in his drama, The Visit, conveys the idea in which Claire Zachanassian embodies aggregate power and control, and she uses those features to dehumanize the people of Gullen throughout the play. Durrenmatt s purpose is to illustrate that money can buy power, and power is what leads to all disorder and chaos. He adopts a striking and staggering tone in order to express how humanity is so easily purchased by mere paper. Claire Zachanassian symbolizes power by frightening and intimidating the people of Gullen into doing her bidding and dirty work. Claire holds herself throughout the play as though she is better than any, and everyone around her, and that is continuously publicized throughout the entirety... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Claire, and Koby and Loby are talking to the butler about what happened to the two men, they stated, The lady tracked us down, the lady tracked us down. She gave us to Toby and Roby. She gave us to Toby and Roby. {They} castrated and blinded us. Castrated and blinded us. (Durrenmatt). By doing this, Claire shows that her money can justly buy anything, literally. Because The Pair lied to the court many years before about falsely sleeping with her, she decided to make them pay. When she figured out she was pregnant, she was confused and helpless. Alfred Ill, supposedly, put Koby and Loby up to a bet offering the two money if they lied and said that they slept with Claire. When this statement from the two men was put into question, everyone in town turned against Claire and shunned her. • 7. A Research Study On Sex Trafficking Study Essay As far as the reliability was concerned in the study I believe there should be no concern. The individuals in the study were all young women of whom were adjudicated from 1990 to 2011l. If there was any reason to believe that their information was not reliable one could check into police records and other background checks that were available. The presence of the court files helps with the researchstudy being reliable. If those files did not exist, one would question the reliability of the stories from younger ladies. To adjust for the credibility, the researcher obtained information from official criminal histories, interviews from offenders and law enforcement records (Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). Sample When looking for a sample for a research project one must be sure that it is going to provide us with the answers to the questions we are looking to answer and it represents the sample that was in mind (Yegidis et al., 2012, p. 210). In the sex trafficking study, the researchers had obtained their participants by selecting 179 survivors of young ladies who had performed the act of sex trafficking. The ladies were selected from a pool of women who had been adjudicated between 1990 2011 (Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). The goal of this committee is to place parental advisory stickers on rock and heavy metal music that they deemed to promote rape, suicide, drugs, and teen pregnancy. In one sense, the PRMC does get the expected results. First, they had already listed 15 albums (the Filthy 15 ) they wanted to be banned. Most of them were rock songs specifically hard rock or metal songs. Second, the PMRC push for a rating system and it is similar to the one in place for movies. • 9. The Education System And The American Educational System The culture in and surrounding Uganda has fascinated me for a year or two now. I went to Kabale Uganda for a mission trip during my spring break of senior year. I was able to teach the students there for two weeks with my team and fell in love with it instantly. That trip spurred my desire to teach in less fortunate countries once I finish college. Once of the most significant differences between the Ugandan educational system and the American educational system that I saw was that access to education was so limited in Uganda. In 1997 Uganda initiated what they called Universal Primary Education (UPE), which aims to decrease poverty by making primary (elementary) school free, there by more accessible to it s students. (Bategeka and Okurut, 2006). The problem with UPE is that the government decides what schools will be part of the UPE program. Which means, the more remote areas may not have a school that is supported by UPE in walking distance. There is no other form of transportation for these students, it is highly uncommon for a family to own a car, and if they re extremely fortunate they may own a bicycle. This forces the students to go to a boarding school (Outreach Uganda, 2009). The boarding fees are around $2.00 in U.S. currency a semester. At first appeared to be very manageable to me until I was told while in Uganda that $2.00 in American currency converted to the Ugandan currency was roughly 2700 shillings That is more than my college tuition that theses families ... Resilience And Adversity Resilience The Power to Overcome Adversity The life of Nelson Mandela has inspired many to pursue the essence of resilience and the ways in which people recover from adversity to strength. The argument lies in whether resilience is a born quality or something that could be learned. In looking to find the answer to this question, I had to read several articles on the subject which turned out to be quite of a challenge, but most of the information available concluded that resilience is a process that is learned versus something that which is innate. It s a process that is learned from self motivation, life experiences and continual learning versus a quality that one is born with. Insight is built on the experience of having been understood by a caring and attentive other and is a product of secure attachment. Consistent experiences of empathic attunement deepen our capacity for insight and reality testing. As we mature emotionally and cognitively we broaden our ability to recognize and appreciate others subjectivity and separateness as well as the capacity to reflect on our own experience. Inherent to this is an appreciation that other behaviors are not necessarily directed toward us, even when we are affected by them. These abilities are essential to resilience in that they allow us to tolerate experiences of existential isolation. It was this constellation of qualities that allowed Mandela to persevere in the struggle against apartheid and sustained him during the years spent on Robin Island. In the face of adversity, one has to be open to acceptance. The resilient individual is sustained by an inherent capacity for acceptance; that is an ability to accept what cannot be changed and ultimately embracing the life that one has been given. By the beginning of the seventeenth century, the Dutch Republic had overcome the limitations of its size and available ecological resources through its innovative financial and commercial institutions and was enjoying a hundred years of commercial dominance. By all measures, the Dutch Republicwas positioned to remain atop Europefor the foreseeable future, but by the end of the seventeenth century, domestic production and overseas dominance was waning. The saxophone consists of these, but it is also so much more. Playing the saxophone is a great experience that everyone should try. Although playing the saxophone may take some money and time, it is a great investment because it is a unique instrument with many benefits. There are many different kinds of saxophones, but only a few are commonly used. The most common ones include the alto, baritone, tenor and soprano saxophones. Most tyros start on the alto saxophone. Sound has to be produced just right though, or else the result will be a high pitched squeak. The sound from the saxophone is made when one blows air into the mouthpiece, which causes a wooden reed to vibrate. Different pitches are produced when the air column is lengthened or shortened by pushing the keys up and down. The book Music: An Illustrated Encyclopedia, written by Neil Ardley, illustrates the importance of having keys, or buttons, on woodwind instruments such as the saxophone. ...woodwind instruments can produce more than 40 notes even though the player has only eight fingers and two thumbs with which to get them [keys]. (29) Being able to produce so many notes is a great benefit to saxophone players because they can undulate between notes and octaves more easily than other instruments. The saxophone is considered one of the easiest instruments to play. Even neophytes are able to make a noise on the saxophone (even if it is more of a squeak). To make sound on a brass instrument, such as the trumpet, one needs to purse his lips just right, which can be difficult for many people. Also, brass players have a more difficult time changing octaves (high and low notes) than reed players because they need to change their whole mouth position instead of pushing a single button. While in some ways it may seem reasonable to allow people to earn as much as companies are willing to pay, I personally believe that employee remuneration should be capped at a certain level. There are various reasons why it might be considered beneficial to allow people to be paid extremely high salaries. If companies offer excellent pay packages, they can attract the most talented people in their fields to work for them. For example, technology companies like Google are able to employ the best programmers because of the huge sums that they are willing to pay. Rhetorical Analysis Of Thomas King Rhetorical Analysis of Thomas King `Recently, scholars have analyzed King s (2003) chapter You ll Never Believe What Happened is Always a Good Way to Start, with the intent to discover King s rhetorical techniques and overall purpose. At the time of his speech, the world was predominantly scientific, capitalistic, Judeo Christian (p.12). Firstly, Cassandra Plettell (2017) found that King utilizes ethos to demonstrate how stories may alter an individual s perception (p.2). Similarly, Emma Murphy (2017) found that King uses ethos and pathos that portrays the idea that stories have the ability to greatly impact individuals lives (p.2). Then, Ajodeji Edna Adetimechin (2017) found that King uses ethos, pathos, and logos to convince his audience of the influential power that stories have in shaping perspectives (p.2). In general, they have found that King s purpose is regarding the influential powers of stories with the use of ethos, pathos and/or logos. In addition to Plettell, Murphy and Adetimechin s finding, I would like to go a step further and argue that King s overall purpose is to persuade the audience that the Genesis creation story has formulated a culture that lacks forgiveness, compassion, and unity (King, 2003, pp.24 27). Inclusively, I will argue how King utilizes his personal experiences with stories, emotional appeals, and writing arrangement in order to gradually persuade his highly intellectual audience.
