The document discusses how to have greater joy and fellowship with God through obedience to his commandments and loving one another. It says that if we confess our sins, God will forgive us and cleanse us. It also emphasizes that we should love our brothers and not the world or things of the world. We can work on obeying God together through community and alone through prayer and reading scripture. Loving one another and confessing sins are keys to fellowship with God.

Sermon by: Brian Birdow
Jesus demonstrates that He is the light of the world by healing a man born blind. This sign powerfully shows that a man born blind received his sight and therefore that Jesus is the Christ, the son of Man and is worthy of our our belief and worship.
Based on "Why I believe" by D. James Kennedy, this lesson examines the promises God makes to His children. The most important point is that these promises only apply to those who have trusted Christ as Savior. If you have not done this and need more information, please contact me.
Jesus, the light of the world, healed a blind man and demonstrated through that sign that He is the Christ. The Pharisees stubbornly refused to understand this truth. Their confident assertion that they see demonstrated their blindness, and provides us the opportunity to evaluate our own ability to see the light. There are four ways in which we can be blind: 1) Denying the Truth; 2) Failing to Grow; 3) Failing to Love; and 4)Trusting in Riches.

Do you look like your parents? For me, some may say I really look like my dad. He just smiles more often and I don’t. Hehe. It’s just amazing to see how a child can really resemble his or her father or mother. We have a resemblance to our earthly parents no matter who big or small it may be. But we should also consider our resemblance to our heavenly Father. We will learn a lot about this as we study 1 John chapter 3.

It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. 1 John 1:3-4
•That which we have seen and heard declare we
unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with
us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father,
and with his Son Jesus Christ.
• And these things write we unto you, that your joy
may be full.
4. 1 John 1:8-9
• If we say that we have no sin, we deceive
ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
• If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
5. 1 John 2:3,5
• And hereby we do know that we know him, if we
keep his commandments.
• …But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is
the love of God perfected: hereby know we that
we are in him.
6. 1 John 2:9-10
• He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his
brother, is in darkness even until now.
• He that loveth his brother abideth in the light,
and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
7. 1 John 3:11-14
• For this is the message that ye heard from the
beginning, that we should love one another.
• Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew
his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his
own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
• Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
• We know that we have passed from death unto life,
because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his
brother abideth in death.
9. 1 John 2:15-17
• Love not the world, neither the things that are in
the world. If any man love the world, the love of
the Father is not in him.
• For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is
not of the Father, but is of the world.
• And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:
but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
10. 1 John 2:15-17
11. 1 John 2:21
• I have not written unto you because ye
know not the truth, but because ye know it,
and that no lie is of the truth.
12. 1 John 3:4-6
•Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth
also the law: for sin is the transgression of
the law.
•And ye know that he was manifested to take
away our sins; and in him is no sin.
•Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not:
whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither
known him.

greater joy and fellowship with
God?
What can we work on together?
What can we work on alone?
