Heb. 12:1-11 - 1Therefore, since we are surrounded
by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay
aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely,
and let us run with endurance the race that is set
before us, 2looking to Jesus, the founder and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set
before him endured the cross, despising the
shame, and is seated at the right hand of the
throne of God. 3Consider him who endured from
sinners such hostility against himself, so that you
may not grow weary or fainthearted.

Heb. 12:1-11 - 4In your struggle against sin you
have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your
blood. 5And have you forgotten the exhortation
that addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard
lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary
when reproved by him. 6For the Lord disciplines
the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he
receives." 7It is for discipline that you have to
endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is
there whom his father does not discipline?

Heb. 12:1-11 - 8If you are left without discipline, in
which all have participated, then you are
illegitimate children and not sons. 9Besides this, we
have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we
respected them. Shall we not much more be
subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10For they
disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to
them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we
may share his holiness. 11For the moment all
discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but
later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to
those who have been trained by it.

Rom. 8:12-17 - 12So then, brothers, we are debtors,
not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13For
if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if
by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the
body, you will live. 14For all who are led by the
Spirit of God are sons of God. 15For you did not
receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear,
but you have received the Spirit of adoption as
sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" 16The Spirit
himself bears witness with our spirit that we are
children of God,

Rom. 8:12-17 - 17and if children, then heirs—heirs
of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we
suffer with him in order that we may also be
glorified with him.

1 John 2:15-17 - 15Do not love the world or the
things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the
love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in
the world— the desires of the flesh and the desires

passing away along with its desires, but whoever
does the will of God abides forever.

Jas. 1:13-15 - 13Let no one say when he is tempted,
"I am being tempted by God," for God cannot be
tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
14But each person is tempted when he is lured and
enticed by his own desire. 15Then desire when it
has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is
fully grown brings forth death.

John 17:14-16 - 14I have given them your word, and
the world has hated them because they are not of
the world, just as I am not of the world. 15I do not
ask that you take them out of the world, but that
you keep them from the evil one. 16They are not of
the world, just as I am not of the world. 17Sanctify
them in the truth; your word is truth.

Heb. 5:12-14 - 12For though by this time you ought
to be teachers, you need someone to teach you
again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You
need milk, not solid food, 13for everyone who lives
on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness,
since he is a child. 14But solid food is for the
mature, for those who have their powers of
discernment trained by constant practice to
distinguish good from evil.

1 Cor. 14:20 - 20Brothers, do not be children in your
thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be
mature.

Jas. 1:27 - 27Religion that is pure and undefiled
before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and
widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself
unstained from the world.

2 Cor. 6:14-18 - 14Do not be unequally yoked with
unbelievers. For what partnership has
righteousness with lawlessness? Or what
fellowship has light with darkness? 15What accord
has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a
believer share with an unbeliever? 16What
agreement has the temple of God with idols? For
we are the temple of the living God; as God said, "I
will make my dwelling among them and walk
among them, and I will be their God, and they shall
be my people.

2 Cor. 6:14-18 - 17Therefore go out from their
midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome
you, 18and I will be a father to you, and you shall be
sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty."

fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we
lie and do not practice the truth. 7But if we walk in

cleanses us from all sin.

John 14:23 - 23Jesus answered him, "If anyone
loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will
love him, and we will come to him and make our
home with him.

midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among
whom you shine as lights in the world, 16holding
fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I
may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in
vain.

1 John 5:3-4 - 3For this is the love of God, that we
keep his commandments. And his commandments
are not burdensome. 4For everyone who has been
born of God overcomes the world. And this is the
victory that has overcome the world— our faith.

proverb says has happened to them: "The dog
returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after
washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire."

ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess
our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
