Based on "Why I believe" by D. James Kennedy, this lesson examines the promises God makes to His children. The most important point is that these promises only apply to those who have trusted Christ as Savior. If you have not done this and need more information, please contact me.

1. Why Should I Believe the Bible III

2. What we’ve seen so far….
• The Bible is true in its history and prophecy.
– We saw this in Ezekiel with the city of Tyre.
– We saw this in Jeremiah with the city of Babylon.
– We saw this in Micah with the city of Samaria.
• The Bible is true in its science.
– We saw this with Lt. Matthew Maury and the Psalms.
– We saw this with Christopher Columbus and Isaiah.
– We saw this with Jonah and the Whale.
– We saw this with Dr. David Macht and the toxicity of
blood.

3. So what does this mean to me?
• We’ve seen a lot of things that could help us
to trust that the Bible is true.
• Is there anything in the Bible that’s specific to
you?
• If there is, can you trust what the Bible says
based on what we’ve seen over the last two
weeks?

4. God’s Promises for You
• There are lots of promises for you, but we’ll only
look at a few….
• John 3:16
• God loves you so much that He promised to give
you eternal life IF you place your trust in Jesus
Christ.
• Hebrews 9:27 says that we get judged after
death.
• Matthew 7:20-23 says not everyone in church is a
Christian…Do you have any fruit?

5. Promise #2
• How many of you would like a bigger, nicer
home?
• God promises us exactly that in John 14:1-3.
• What does it look like? Revelation 21: 17-21
• If this is what the walls and streets look like, can
you imagine the doorknobs and windows look
like?
• Imagine a living where everything this world says
is so important and valuable is building supplies!

6. Promise #3
• How many of you are tired of pain, or crying,
or being sad, or watching loved ones die?
• Revelation 21:1-4. These are some of my
favorite verses in the entire Bible!
• IF you have given Christ your soul to keep, one
day His hand will wipe away the last tear you
ever cry. Why will you be crying? Because
you’ve just met Jesus face to face. BUT you’ll
never cry again! Cool, huh?

7. Promise #4
• Is it hard to be a Christian sometimes? Do you
get tired of not acting like the world around
you?
• Philippians 1:6. God started changing you to
be more like Christ as soon as you place your
trust in Him. If God’s doing the work, God will
make sure it gets done right and on time.
That doesn’t mean you can just quit; you still
have to give God something to work with!

8. Promise #5
• Ever have someone leave you, or take
something important from you?
• Romans 8: 31-39 Lots of stuff here!
• God promises to give us ALL things, not just a
few!
• God promises NEVER to leave you, and that no
one or no thing can EVER remove you from His
hand!

9. Promise #6
• Ever stare temptation in the face and wonder
how to get away before you do something
wrong?
• I Corinthians 10:13 God will ALWAYS make a
way for you to escape temptation – IF you
look for it.
• God will not allow you to be tempted beyond
your ability to withstand it.

10. Decision Time….
• So, are you going to trust what God promised
you? Do you believe what the Bible says, or
don’t you?
• REMEMBER: These promises are only made
to God’s children. If you are trusting yourself
or good works to get you to heaven, you’re
out of luck. You cannot get rid of your sins on
your own.

11. So how do I get rid of my sins?
• Admit you’re a sinner. Sin is anything that highly
offends God. God is perfect, and cannot abide the
presence of sin. Romans 3:10, 23. Romans 6:23
• Believe that Christ lived a sinless life you could never
live and died a criminal’s death which He didn’t
deserve to pay a penalty you could never pay. Romans
5:8. Isaiah 53.
• Call out to Him. Ask Jesus to take your sins and forgive
you for all the wrong you’ve done. Trust Him with your
soul, and ask Him to make you a child of God. Romans
10:9-10.
