This document discusses the key messages of 1 John 5:1-5. It argues that loving God means obeying His commandments. There are three interrelated aspects of love for God: having faith in Jesus, having the power to overcome the world, and obeying God's commandments with joy. Faith helps us understand God's perspective and leads to obedience. Those who love God will overcome the world through their faith and defeat evil in the world. True love for God is shown through obedience to His commands.
The prodigal son can't turn back? The formation of the prodigal son, falling,...franktsao4
Every time we hear the story of the prodigal son returning, we will be very happy that the prodigal son finally turned around. But there are many people who have different ideas in between, 1) Why did no one help him when he was very poor, 2 ) And why, when he, as an Israeli, was so poor that he had to feed filthy pigs, 3) or he was so unlucky that he could not even eat the food that the pigs could eat. So how come many people's hearts were so unbearable, but once we help, will the prodigal son had chance to turn back?
Do you remember that commercial for Scrubbing Bubbles? I used to want to get some so that my Mom and I could watch those guys running around the tub and doing all of the cleaning all by itself. If only magic Scrubbing Bubbles could be applied life. This is a message that was delivered in September of 2010 at the Hartville Church of the Brethren in Hartville, Ohio.

Jesus teaches a wonder parable about farming, soil, and the seed. The seed is the word of God the Gospel. In this lesson we will cover the value of the farmer and the seed.
Jesus would often times teach thorough parables. In this lesson we examine the teaching of the sower and soils. Both audio and slides can be viewed together at www.cmcoc.org

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 concerning our perspective on "Being Grateful , When the World is Hateful".
If you know me , then you know I that myself and many others spent this week at FC Alabama Camp , serving the cause of Christ and serving kids from 4th grade though 12th. Though , incredibly difficult and grueling at times - it is by far the most rewarding and spiritually uplifting experiences I have ever engaged in and I look forward to it every year.
I look forward to it for many reasons , but mostly for a respite from the world and the ever seemingly downward spiral mankind is on... But not even this week - a week filled with Godly focus and spiritually driven purpose could I escape the horrors of this weeks shootings and outrage.
In a time when I am usually able to escape the troubles of man's appetite for sin and its destruction , it found me and shame on me for letting it... Its hard to be grateful when the world is so hateful.
Even more surprising was much of the backlash I received from a few who were bothered by the fact that I was bothered. I didnt want to hear of the tragic events unfolding this week , much less see videos spread depicting them... not this week , and though it is only a wish - not ever.
But that is not reality... and in a moment of disgust and down heartedness - I ached.
I ached for Heaven. I ached to be with my God . I want so bad to leave this place for the one to come and then , in that small moment I remembered that one day I will , for "He has promised , and I believe".
My Hope was renewed and my Gratitude returned.
Preaching according to God's heart, Follow the will of my heavenly father => ...franktsao4

In this chapter, we will discuss from God’s will, from salvation, to love, to the establishment of faith, because only by increasing everyone’s faith can there be the possibility of indwelling Jesus Christ. Only in this way we can achieve preaching purpose. This chapter is to try to explain how it can increase everyone’s confidence through preaching.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Loving God = Obedience
1. Loving God = Obedience
1 John 5:1-5
11 February 2018
2. 1 John 5:1-5
• 5 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ[a] has
become a child of God. And everyone who loves the
Father loves his children, too. 2 We know we love God’s
children if we love God and obey his
commandments. 3 Loving God means keeping his
commandments, and his commandments are not
burdensome. 4 For every child of God defeats this evil
world, and we achieve this victory through our
faith. 5 And who can win this battle against the world?
Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
3. Purpose
•The Purpose of 1 John is to let us know that
have been BORN AGAIN
•Apostle John wants us to have joy in
assuring our salvation (1 John 1:4)
4. Love is the mark of God
•Three inter-related things to reflect our love
for GOD
•1. The bottomline is our faith
•2. Power to overcome the world
•3. Joyful obedience to His commandments
6. Faith
•“Pisteuo” – more than intellectual belief but
full trust
•Absolute reliance on God in our day to day
lives
7. Digging Deep into the Rock
•Do not stop trying until you understand
•We can begin to trust someone we
understand well
•CONNECTED WITH THE ROCK
8. Overcome the world
•There is always opposition to our
relationship with God
•We are in the world but not of the world –
PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE
9. Battle of the Mind
Spiritual Carnal
God’s influence Satan’s Influence
Christians Unbelievers
Ruled by Faith Ruled by Flesh
10. Overcome (1 John 2:15-17)
•5 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you,
for when you love the world, you do not have the
love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only
a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for
everything we see, and pride in our achievements
and possessions. These are not from the Father, but
are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away,
along with everything that people crave. But anyone
who does what pleases God will live forever.
11. John 16:33
• I have told you all this so that you may have
peace in me. Here on earth you will have
many trials and sorrows. But take heart,
because I have overcome the world.
12. Result of Love
•Our love for God will be displayed by our
obedience to Him
•23 Jesus replied, “All who love me will do
what I say. My Father will love them, and we
will come and make our home with each of
them (John 14:23)
13. Obedience
•Keeping His commands is an ongoing
activity
•It is a lifestyle – Word of God is to nourish
our body, soul and spirit
14. John 15:5
•Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches.
Those who remain in me, and I in them, will
produce much fruit. For apart from me you
can do nothing.
15. A Loving Life is an Obedient Life
A Loving Life Checklist
•1. Keep His Commands
•2. Act like Christ
•3. Do not hate others but love them
•4. Do not love the world
•5. Stop sinning
•6. Listen and act on the Word
•7. Overcome the world
16. Real Love is Guided by God’s
Commandments
•“the test of whether our love for God is real
is whether we love our fellow believer” –
John Piper
•Our love has to be seen in practical deeds
and don’t experience God’s love for others
as burdensome.
