Google Plus continues to evolve after over 3 years. While Google has scaled back some prominent features like authorship and real name policies, they view Google Plus as central to understanding users and building user profiles. Google Plus allows Google to map relationships between people, brands, and topics to better understand content and improve search and other products. While the future of Google Plus integration remains uncertain, Google states they plan to continue investing in and improving Google Plus.

Examples of cases when it makes sense: When you quoted this person, when you referred to that person in an article, when you met the person in the conference and have uploaded a photo of you two, etc.
