Google introduced its new Hummingbird search algorithm in 2013 to improve how it understands the contextual meaning and intent behind search queries, moving from a keyword-based approach to one based on full sentences, conversations, and semantics. The algorithm aims to return more relevant results that directly answer the user's question or intent rather than just matching keywords. It analyzes the relationship between words and uses information like search history and location to further contextualize results for each user.
In 2014 google engineers changed their search engine algorithms lots of times. Here i am going to share how that algorithms affect on websites. Whats happened ebay?? on panda time.

Should we still build links, track rankings and optimize our sites' pages in 2017? Should we look at SEO split testing or A/B testing; should we still care about 30x pages, should we use canonical tags to keep certain pages out of Googlebot; should we look at inlining our CSS and JS? Do we know for a fact that a mobile page loading fast will rank you higher?

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

3. AABBSSTTRRAACCTT
Google is a search engine and people search several things in Google
to get accurate information.
Google uses a very realistic approach to this searching method and in
the process they have developed an algorithm. This algorithm is
known as hummingbird algorithm.
The new hummingbird algorithm will change the SEO concept. More
stress has been put on conversational keywords. This concept will help
provide more direct and realistic search results to the users.
4. IINNTTRROODDUUCCTTIIOONN
“Hummingbird” is the name of the new search platform that Google is
using as of September 2013, the name comes from being “precise and
fast” and is designed to better focus on the meaning behind the words.
Hummingbird is paying more attention to each word in a query,
ensuring that the whole query or the whole sentence or conversation or
meaning is taken into account, rather than particular words.
The goal is that pages matching the meaning do better, rather than
pages matching just a few words.
5. DDIISSAADDVVAANNTTAAGGEESS OOFF PPRREEVVIIOOUUSS
AALLGGOORRIITTHHMMSS
Penguin and panda knock out low quality contents and links.
Fail to provide better results for voice searches done via mobile
devices.
In the past, Google analysed keywords individually and tried to match
those individual keywords to the content of the site.
Search returned “statistically” probable answers to the query.
6. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OLD AND NEW SEARCH
TECHNIQUES :
Previous Search Techniques Google Hummingbird Search
1) Keyword based search 1) Question-based, conversational,
semantic search(takes into account why,
when , who…)
2)The same search yields same result
for different users.
2) The same search may yield different
results to each user, based on current
circumstances
3)Search technique does not use user
information for searching
3)It uses user information like previous
downloads, geographical location, social
shares etc.
4)It cannot handle complex search
strings.
4) It can handle long complex search
strings. It uses Google’s knowledge
graph.
5) Provides users many possible
options to continue with search
5)It starts with answering the question.
This is called “conversational search”.

8. SSEEMMAANNTTIICC SSEEAARRCCHH
Google has implemented semantic search into its core algorithm of
Hummingbird.
Semantics involves finding the relationship between words, phrases,
symbols and the meaning they denote.
Ambiguous queries (those queries which have more than one
meaning) are broken down and processed via set of pre-defined words
helping the engines grasp the real context of the query.
11. CCOONNVVEERRSSAATTIIOONNAALL SSEEAARRCCHH
Users of Google Chrome may have noticed a small microphone icon in
the right hand corner of Google’s search box If the user clicks on that
microphone they may ask aloud the question they would have typed
into the search box. The question is then displayed on the search screen,
along with the results.
“Google Speak” have come to realize is that the more conversational
the query, the more information is provided.
12.
13. MMOOBBIILLEE SSEEAARRCCHH
Mobile search engine pages, Google also owns Android which even
has its own voice search capabilities.
Hummingbird will have a direct impact on those who employ mobile
friendly landing pages or sites
14. VVOOIICCEE SSEEAARRCCHH
Voice search naturally tends to mean more conversational and more
natural language.
Rather than searching for a one or two word phrase, people will be
more inclined to use whole sentences, questions, and more complex
queries when they speak.
Hummingbird will determine the most relevant and highest quality
pages that meet the needs of the searcher

The Knowledge Graph is a knowledge base used by Google to
enhance its search engine's search results with semantic-search
information gathered from a wide variety of sources.
knowledge is being gathered, categorized, cross-referenced thousands
upon thousands of ways, and stored. This vast well of knowledge is
available to the Hummingbird.
Google would eventually find a way to utilize this information with an
algorithm that deciphers the context of all the words in a query.
19.
20. FFEEAATTUURREESS
Comparisons
The knowledge graph enables more comparisons between search
objects (ex: “compare butter vs olive oil”, “compare Earth vs
Jupiter” etc.).
Geo-location enhancement
If someone asks “What’s the best place to buy an iPhone 5s?” then
Google will likely bring a result near to his current location.
Improved mobile search design and functionality
Voice search and Android/iPhone synchronization are improved
and will likely continue to improve quickly.
21. AADDVVAANNTTAAGGEESS
Search engine parse can parse full query more quickly.
Google will be able to rank and identified content it has indexed
with relevant queries.
search engine can compile voice based queries more accurately.
return relevant results discarded irrelevant results.
search results would be determined to best suit the user experience.
22. DDIISSAADDVVAANNAATTGGEESS
Can’t optimizing their websites by using only Keywords .
Think long-term.
Dedicated Website.
Using a Copyright Image/picture on Website.
The knowledge graph still does not incorporate many languages.
The Algorithm result is not applicable to all countries.
23. CCOONNCCLLUUSSIIOONN
Hummingbird is paying more attention to each word in a query, ensuring
that the whole query the whole sentence or conversation or meaning is
taken into account, rather than particular words. The goal is that pages
matching the meaning do better, rather than pages matching just a few
words.
Google Hummingbird is designed to apply the meaning technology to
billions of pages from across the web, in addition to Knowledge Graph
facts, which may bring back better results.
