 Objective
 Implementing the idea of wearable computing with the
help of augmented display and virtual reality
 Introduction
• The Google glass project was started by “Babak Parviz”
• Google glass is a project based on Augmented Reality by
Google.
• The intended purpose of Google Glass would be the hands
free displaying of information currently available to most
smartphone users
• Display contents on video screen as well as respond to
voice commands of the user
 Technologies used
• Augmented reality
• Bone conduction
• Eye tap technology
• 4G technology
• Android OS
1. Augmented reality
 Augmented reality is a live , direct or indirect, view of a physical, real-
world environment
 Real world elements are augmented by generated sensory input such as
sound, video , graphics or GPS
 Utilize augmented reality to project images & information in front of your
eye
2. Bone conduction
 Conduction of sound through the bones of the skull
 High pitched sounds makes segment of skull to vibrate
individually
 Since the bone conduction does not use the eardrum
3. EyeTap technology
 EyeTap is a device that is worn in front of the eye that acts as a
camera to record the scene available to the eye as well as display
4. 4G technology
 4G is the fourth generation of cell phone mobile communications
 4G technology is basically the extension in the 3G technology with more
bandwidth and services offers in 3G
5. Android OS
 Android is a Linux based operating for mobile devices such as
smart phones and tablet computers developed by google
 working
 Video display:
It has a small video display to display the pop up hand
free information
 Camera:
It has the front facing video camera with which
photos and videos can be taken quickly
 Speaker:
speaker is designed for the ear to make and
receive calls
 Button :
a single button on the side of the frame sophisticates
the glasses to work with the physical touch input
 Microphone:
a microphone is also put in that can take the voice
commands of users. Microphone is also used for having
telephonic communication
 Technical Specifications
 Voice commands
 Features
• You will never have to touch the hardware you will take a picture or
record a video by using voice commands
• The photos and videos will be stored on the memory of the device
and can also be shared on social net working websites
• Send messages via voice commands
• Google glass translate a sentence from one language to another
 Advantages
 Easy to ware and use
 Sensitive and responsive to the presence of people
 Fast access of maps , documents , videos , chats and much more
 A spectacle based computer to reside directly on your eyes rather
than in your pouch or pocket
 A usefull technology for all kinds of handicapped and disabled
people
 Disadvantages
 Can be easily broken or damaged. Users will have a tough time
taking care of it
 It may lead to accidents while driving
 Privacy of people may break with new glasses
 Conclusion
Google glass are basically wearable computer that use the
evaluating familiar technologies that brings the sophistication
and ease of communication and information access even for the
physically challenged class of people those literally could not use
general way of palm taps and mobile.
