Colleen McAndrew created Google in 1996 with the mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Google had its initial public offering in 2004 and acquired YouTube in 2006 for $1.65 billion in stock in order to create new opportunities for users and content owners by combining the two companies that both put users first and are committed to innovation. While acquisitions can result in difficulties, YouTube revenue helped Google and advertising on the video platform more than tripled from 2007 to 2009.
