My city is Dubai, the capital of one of the
emirates of United Arab Emirates.
Geography
• Dubai has less than 1500 km2 (square kilometers) area but is de biggest city of the
UAE.
• The city forms a conurbation with Sharjah and Ajmanin east, and with Jumeirah
and Jebel Ali in the west.
• The city is divided by the creek Dubai Creek resulting in two visible regions : Deira
to the north and Bur Dubai to the south.
Economy
• In the sixties Dubai made great economic progress thanks to the discovery of oil
and it has gone from being a poor city with problems to advance to be one that
can grow and economically the most important city of the UAE and a very
important city in the world.
• Dubai has a problem, the difference between social classes. In Dubai you can find
millionaires with luxury cars and poor people who die of hunger.
Dubai, a modern city
• Dubai is considered the most modern city in the world, with its skyscrapers and
towers such as the Burj Dubai Tower, the tallest tower of the world.
• Other spectacular things are the "The World“, an archipelago of 300
private islands that together make up a world map.
Traditions
• The hospitality is very important in Dubai, for example, they can invite you to
take a refreshment in a shop though you have not bought and for good education
you will have to accept the offer.
• The Islam is narrowly linked to the structure of the UAE. The Muslims consider
the Koran to be the God's word, and this one establishes moral very concrete
directives relative to all the questions of the daily life.
Gastronomy
• Local dishes of Dubai are the Shawarma and the Fala-fil
accompanied by fresh juices such as Chai zan-ja-beel or
desserts as Le-ge-matt
