LYRICS AND VISUALS

Throughout the filming of our music video, we analysed the lyrics of our
chosen song. In the song we realised it did not have many lyrics and was
mainly a beat performed song which meant that we chose to not link the lyrics
and the visuals as we wanted the visuals to create a story instead ( conventions
of a indie music video) but by linking it to the lyrics we couldn‟t do that.
However there is one part of the song where our character hits his alarm
clock which relates the lyrics “and if you cant stop time, you're not a friend of
mine” also relating to the story of the visuals of our character having no
friends. I feel that this illustrates our relationship between the lyrics and
visuals but also disjuncture's it at the same time.
“We feel super high/fine every
second, every minute, every day.
And if you can't stop time, you're
not a friend of mine.”

MUSIC AND VISUALS

I felt that our music video‟s music and visuals were amplified, as our song
choice was a very upbeat song it was easy to link the visuals with the beat of
it. We used snappy chop shots which changed in sync with when the music
beat changed which I feel made the music video more engaging and
                              interesting to watch.
STYLE AND ICONOGRAPHY

During the filming of our A2 production of a music video, we decided that
we wanted our genre to be indie/alternative in our music video this can be
shown through the style of our character e.g. he wears skinny jeans, a
snapback hat, camouflage jacket and a pair of vans trainers. Relating to the
style of various indie/alternative performers such as Arctic monkeys and Alt-J.
INTERTEXTUAL REFERENCES

     • Throughout our media productions there is many intertextual
references, for example the first one would be the new release film „TED‟
                          and also „winnie the pooh‟
• Another intertextual reference that is shown is Rihanna, During the music
video Dylan is wearing a Rihanna t-shirt.
VOYEURISM

In our music video we chose to not include any aspects of voyeurism, as we
felt as a group that voyeurism didn‟t fit in with the indie/alternative genre that
we chose to do, The lyrics or The music (beat of the song) in our heads we
had an idea of what visuals we wanted and voyeurism wasn‟t included.
