It’s NOT just about gossip, celebrities, and sales.

What platforms are you currently using?
Your Digital Reputation Carries Weight



Your online reputation is the perception, estimation and
opinion that is formed when you are encountered online.



Your status update, post, tweet, pin, comment, etc. are

providing content to your viewers (whether you are
connected with them or not) that inform them of your
character.


Once you build a strong digital reputation, you need to
remain consistent.

Personal branding REALLY IS about selling your brand (what you’re all
about) online.



Use your social media accounts to share your values, skills, knowledge,
extracurricular activities, successes and awards!


LinkedIn is a great tool for this! Share updates, articles, projects you’ve

completed, community service you’ve participated in, and connect with
groups to promote discussion and PROMOTE YOURSELF.
Why is this all so Important?


Your online presence (or lack thereof) can impact your future.



Some employers and admissions offices are using the internet to conduct background
checks.


settings)!



website/blog something that will direct followers to your social
media network.



Use tools to manage your content and your digital reputation.


Use Hootsuite to auto schedule posts and Google Alerts to notify you
when someone is searching for you.

Get On Board with your Personal Brand

By The Time You Leave Today…  Further understand what personal branding entails and how this affects your (digital/in-person)reputation.  You will have been presented with concrete, real, examples of methods to productively use various forms of social media to positively market your personal brand.  You will be exposed to a variety of online platforms that support your personal branding endeavors.
  • 5. Social Media is all About Connecting  It’s all about the discussions prompted, building community, and building relationships with people you may never meet in person.  It’s NOT just about gossip, celebrities, and sales.  What platforms are you currently using?
  • 6. Your Digital Reputation Carries Weight  Your online reputation is the perception, estimation and opinion that is formed when you are encountered online.  Your status update, post, tweet, pin, comment, etc. are providing content to your viewers (whether you are connected with them or not) that inform them of your character.  Once you build a strong digital reputation, you need to remain consistent.
  • 7. Personal Branding  “How we market ourselves to others.” – Dan Schawbel, author of Me 2.0 and Promote Yourself  Personal branding REALLY IS about selling your brand (what you’re all about) online.  Use your social media accounts to share your values, skills, knowledge, extracurricular activities, successes and awards!  LinkedIn is a great tool for this! Share updates, articles, projects you’ve completed, community service you’ve participated in, and connect with groups to promote discussion and PROMOTE YOURSELF.
  • 8. Why is this all so Important?  Your online presence (or lack thereof) can impact your future.  Some employers and admissions offices are using the internet to conduct background checks.  Your Facebook pictures from Thirsty Thursday Downtown included (even under lock and key settings)!  How Google-able are you?
  • 9. It’s No Longer About Who You Know  It’s about who knows you.

  • 11. Consistency Pays Off  Consistent digital branding and online reputation is becoming more important than ever!
  • 13. Managing Your Digital Reputation  Begin by identifying your home base. This should be a website/blog something that will direct followers to your social media network.  Use tools to manage your content and your digital reputation.  Use Hootsuite to auto schedule posts and Google Alerts to notify you when someone is searching for you.
