Belden Acquires the Gepco Brand
Acquisition enhances Belden’s broadcast AV product portfolio
St. Louis, Missouri – Sept. 6, 2016 – Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission
solutions for mission-critical applications, is proud to announce that it has acquired the assets of
the Gepco brand from General Cable.
“I’m very excited to have both the Belden and Gepco brands, each known for its outstanding
professional broadcast portfolio, to serve our global customers in the broadcast and AV
markets,” says Tim Shoulders, Vice President and General Manager for Belden Broadcast AV.
“This acquisition significantly increases Belden’s product portfolio to include AV panels,
assemblies and test equipment, further demonstrating our continued commitment to the
broadcast and AV markets,” reveals Elizabeth Stephan, Director of Sales and Channel for
Belden Broadcast AV. “Earlier this year, Belden hired Brad Pope, product engineering manager
for Belden Broadcast AV. Brad has extensive Gepco product experience from his previous work
at General Cable, and will be a valuable resource for Belden and Gepco customers during the
transition of Gepco to Belden management.”
Belden has made significant advances in broadcast cabling in 2016 by improving the
performance of its most popular HD-SDI coax products, such as 1694A and 1855A, from
4.5GHz to 6GHz. Moreover, Belden has recently introduced 4794R, the first single-link 12GHz
coax cable, which will be available by the end of Q3.
In addition to new Broadcast products, Belden is also innovating in the Commercial A/V space.
“We will be launching the industry’s most advanced 4K HDBaseT cabling and connectivity
solution later this year,” says Mike Saber, Director of Marketing for Belden Broadcast AV. “On
top of that, the acquisition of the Gepco brand provides us with new technologies that expand
our new product pipeline.”
Gepco products will be available for sale in early September, with many products available from
inventory. Gepco customers can obtain more information by calling 800-BELDEN-1.
The explosion of digital television, on-demand content and mobile devices has the broadcast

them deliver solutions with its industry-leading cable along with its Grass Valley and PPC
