Established in 1983 in New Brunswick, CanadaFirst heat pump designed was a three horse power open loop passive cooling ground water unit.Maritime Geothermal started slowly, and maintained a model of slow, organic expansion throughout the 1980’s and 90’s.A CSA/ISO certified test lab was built in 1991, this lab was built as a response to increases in the level of standards demanded by the industry. The lab is fully computerized, and we are the only heat pump manufacturer to have one.
Maritime Geothermal started selling the O Series Passive cooling heat pump in 1983. From there, we expanded our heat pump selection as the technology matured, and as our dealers requested new products. In 1990, we successfully developed a full line of active cooling heat pumps. In 1992, responding to market trends, we developed a Direct Expansion system designed to decrease costs and simplify ground loop installation. In 1995, responding to requests coming in from homeowners who had installed our geothermal units for the normal living area of the home, we made the decision to begin manufacturing indoor pool conditioners to compliment our geothermal heat pumps. In 1996, we began producing large capacity water to water units for industrial hot water applications. Today, these machines have a heating capacity of almost a million Btu’s.In 1998, the triple function unit was introduced. This revolutionary heat pump is able to provide full capacity hot water as well as hot and cold air via a duct system. This heat pump is perfect for homes with radiant in floor heating, and ducted air conditioning. They quickly became fast sellers. In 2000, the NORDIC Energy Module style liquid-to-water was designed in response to dealer demand for a simpler, more reliable water to water solution. This new model streamlines the radiant floor heating process and is correspondingly popular.
