Geometry is the study of shapes, lines, and angles. It examines the properties and relationships between points, lines, planes, and geometric figures. Geometry has its origins in ancient Greece, where mathematicians like Euclid began studying and writing about the subject. This unit on geometry will cover key topics like lines and angles, intersecting lines, formulas for area, volume, perimeter and circumference, and the Pythagorean theorem. Students are asked to complete a KWL chart on shapes and meet with their appointment to discuss examples of shapes found in real life.
