1. GEOLOGY WEBQUEST
Introduction:Scientists have only been able to physically study the Earth’s composition to a
depth of 7 miles. They have hypothesized about what we know about the rest of the
composition of Earth through the use of seismic waves, which change in their length and speed
as they travel through different materials. Scientists have just discovered a new piece of
technology that will allow you to travel to the center of the Earth! You are chosen as the first
person to use the machine to help the scientists confirm what they already know about Earth’s
composition.
Task: Your job is to record what you find and create a diagram and detailed report of your
findings to turn into the scientists. Using the resources provided, you will complete the diagram
of the layers of Earth and fill in the blanks on the report.
Process:
