Basic Principles o f Genetics Dominant traits mask (cover) recessive alleles.     In co-dominant the alleles are neither dominant nor recessive. Therefore neither alleles is masked in the offspring.. The offspring gets the half the number of chromosomes from each parent resulting in an offspring of a variation    of the parent .
Human Genome Project The human genome project started in 1980, a 23year project. Scientists tried making this possible because they wanted to bring back, to identify the DNA sequence of ever gene inthe genome. This act caused some concern in the people because your employers can use your DNA profile and not hire you it was consider discrimination.
Genetic Disorder A human sex-linked recessive genetic disorder that results in the absence of certain blood-clotting factors, usually Factor VII. Hemophiliacs suffer from an inability to clot their blood. The failure of chromosomes to separate properly during cell division. The unequal segregation of chromosomes during meiosis. This forms cells with either too many (possibly one or more single or sets of chromosomes too many) or too few chromosomes. Thought to be a common cause for Down Syndrome, where sufferers often have an extra copy of chromosome 21. Common medical problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity do not have a single genetic cause—they are likely associated with the effects of multiple genes in combination with lifestyle and environmental factors. Genetic counseling dose not tell people what to do, it only explains the options and risks A karyotype is a picture of all the chromosomes in a cell. These pictures are used to check for chromosomal abnormalities, such as too few or too much which can result in a genetic disability, such as Down syndrome.
Helping the food chain I am for animal cloning because it may help the food chains. The reason it may help the food chain is that there are a lot of extinct animals that helped the food chain. If the cheetahs go extinct that will effect an over population on there pray. So if way do help the studies to cloning it may help us stay goo with the food chain.
