The Benefits and Pitfalls of the Internet
Using the internet is becoming popular nowadays since many people spend their time working on it,
but is using the internet beneficial for them? It may have some advantages and disadvantages as most
new technologies do, and some of these advantages and disadvantages can be seen on online
assignment submission, online social networking and online news sites.
Pete Bridge and Rob Appleyard (2005), senior lecturers in radiotherapy and oncology at Sheffield
Hallam University in the UK, compared the way that paper based assignments are submitted with the
online equivalent within the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in a study. 47 first year
undergraduate radiotherapy physics students were the volunteers, and surveys were used to gather
their submission and receiving feedback experience. The same group of students was required to
compare their online submission perception with another assignment submission, which was a paper
based assignment. Students were asked to compare the quality of the submission process based on
ease of compilation (Bridge Appleyard, 2005).
The results indicated some positive and negative sides of using the internet to submit assignments.
88% of the students reported that online assignment submission can help the save time, and many said
they found it financially beneficial. In addition, 93% of students preferred receiving their feedback
online rather than printed and handed to them (Bridge Appleyard, 2005).
The main disadvantage students reported by

hypercalcemia, drowsiness, lethargy, nausea and vomiting, decreased appetite, increased thirst and
urination and dysrhythmias. It is not recommended for patients with V fib, metastatic bone disease,
hyperparathyroidism and hypercalcemia. Caution in patients with renal insufficiency and history of

The patient is taking Lasix for its ability to increase urinary output in renal patients with reduced renal
blood flow and for control of hypertension and for its ability decrease the amount of fluid in
intravascular volume, reduce cardiac preload and help treat his acute pulmonary edema (Mayo Clinic,
2017). The mechanism of action for Lasix is, it inhibits reabsorption of sodium, potassium and
chloride cotransporters in the loop of Henle and distal tubules. Lasix causes rapid diuresis, decreasing
vascular volume, increased urinary excretion and decreased cardiac output and blood pressure (Adams
Urban, 2016). The routes that Lasix is supplied are, PO, IV and IM. It is distributed in body tissues. It
is metabolized in incremental amounts by the liver and excreted by the kidneys (Adams Urban, 2016).
The patient is taking 120mg PO/day. The recommended dose is 20 80 mg in one or multiple doses
with a maximum of 600mg/day (Adams Urban, 2016). The patient s dose exceeds the recommended
once daily dose and recommend decreasing the dose or giving in divided doses 6 8 hours apart. Once
the patient s acute pulmonary edema is controlled the dosage should be reduced to prevent
hypokalemia and electrolyte imbalances associated with loop diuretics and renal failure.
Contraindications include, patients with allergies to Sulfonamide antibiotics should not take Lasix.
Concurrent use with NSAIDS decrease the effectiveness.

RATIONALE
As a future educator, it is important to introduce the subject matter and set objectives that will grasp
the learners interest and help them to connect with the problem solving and questioning techniques. A
unit plan should contain objectives, state standards, a summary of duties, and goals. Moreover, it
should contain the types of material needed for students to accomplish the task. There should be a
breakdown of the unit by day or week. Teacher should include the lecture and any quizzes, tests, or
other assignments that will occur. Mathematics units are designed to help learners know what to

Lesson two introduces pupils to Geometry. In this unit learners will become familiar with circles and
volumes. They will select the appropriate theorem or formula to find the solution to the problem. In
addition, learners will prove that all circles are similar and manipulate and use the volume formula to
find the volume of a cone. Activities may be differentiated to address the needs of learners who may
have difficult in breaking down the steps in the problems. Teacher will group learners according to
their abilities cooperatively and allow learners to work independently on circles and volumes. Step by
step breakdown of the problem will be modeled by the teacher. Computerized interactive software and
graphing tools will be used to enhance learners comprehension of the technique.
Lesson three introduces learners to Algebra. In this unit, learners will interact with linear and
exponential functions. Pupils will understand how to graph equations in two variables and plot their
answers on a coordinate plan that often forms a curve or line. In addition, pre assessments will be
given to determine learners knowledge of linear equations and exponential functions. Teacher will
model and guide learners into the steps in learning the concepts. Then, students

Rene Descarte s Argument Essay
Rene Descartes was a French philosopher in the 17th century. Descartes was not pleased with what
philosophy was based on in during this time in history. He took it upon himself to raise questions in
the world of philosophy. He questioned well known beliefs and beliefs held by many, not just
philosophers. In his meditations, he explains his process of emptying his mind and starting completely
over. In this paper, I am going to evaluate and question his thoughts on philosophy, use his writing to
raise questions about my own beliefs, and compare his thoughts to my own. Descartes begins his
essay by explaining what he is doing and why he is doing it. He says that his whole life has been built
on lies so he decides to clear his mind of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argues that this is different from normal thought because one can think of something without it
being present. He uses the example of the chiligon by saying that he can think of this many sided
shape, but he cannot form a picture (or image) of it in his mind. Descartes argues that one uses effort
when they are imagining, but not while thinking. He also says that imagination is not a necessity for
being; that he could go on without it. One does not need imagination to exist, Descartes believes.
Descartes thinks that thought is the mind turning on, or arguing against, its own ideas, and that when
imagining things, the mind turns its attention to one s body. From these statements and conclusions,
Descartes makes his final conclusion by saying people cannot imagine things without the existence of
their body. He tells readers that this might be only a chance. At this point he cannot say for sure if the
body exists. He then goes on to interpret and think through the uses of senses and decides if they
deceive him. He wonders if they deceive him of the existence of material objects existing. He says that
this cannot be so though, because they come from God, and again, God is not a deceiver. I object to
the first argument that we discussed. Descartes cogito beliefs. I understand where he is coming

The Journey Of Candide
The Story of Candide is a short but diverse story that tells of a young man s journey for love and
understanding and the hardships he faces, all the while keeping a very strong, positive and
philosophical outlook on life. The novel takes place both in fictional and existing locations throughout
Latin America and Europe during the 1750 s. Voltaire believed that the society he lived in had many
flaws, which are often illustrated and satirized in Candide. Candide s journey portrays the flawed
human assumption that the grass is always greener on the other side as well as giving the reader an apt
example of an individual s journey from innocence through a series of trials and tribulations to
becoming a mature, experienced and enlightened individual.
This essay will examine the development of the character of Candide over the course of the text as
well as commenting on the final conclusion that the protagonist comes to regarding the possibility or
otherwise of achieving happiness.
At the beginning of the story Candide lives with Baron and his family in a beautiful castle with
wonderful gardens, le plus beau des chateaux (Voltaire 35) which one could see as ... Show more

. The naivety of his desire for happiness is often associated with innocence and a lack of knowledge
about world and the society we live in. If one wishes to become knowledgeable and experienced ,
innocence and ignorance must be sacrificed. Upon being given the choice between execution and
flogging, Candide learns that there is not always a clear choice between good and bad, in this case one
must choose between bad and worse. Once the young protagonist is cast out into the real world his
eyes are opened to the reality and evilness of the world around him. However because of his
dependence on others to think for him Candide s mind still remains closed to self experience and
discovery of meaning or lack there

Border Wall Research Papers
12 billion dollars, that is certainly a lot of money (McFadyen)! On average, that is how much the
United States loses each year from border security. In order to stop illegal immigrants and drug
smugglers from entering the U.S. from Mexico through the border, a wall must be built.
In previous years, many countries and territories around the world have attempted to build walls, and
many have had very much success. For example, Most of the walls built after World War 2 and the
Cold War still exist today. There were a total of 110 walls built between that time period. Professor
Nazli Avdan led a study that had a goal of identifying if a border wall reduced or increased the risk of
a transnational terrorist attack. This study found that since the year 1900, transnational terrorist attacks
have seen a thirteen percent annual decrease in countries with border walls (Border fences

to agree with him. Another reason of his includes the disrupting of the funneling of illicit money and
drugs into the United States of America (Border fences reduce...attacks). The bonus of the building of
the wall is that it will be a visible sign of the government taking action. Decreasing illegal
immigration was Donald Trump s main plan for the wall. Research has shown that only about 9,000 of

Back in 2014, NASA used 3D printing to create a ratchet wrench. Even though this tool will not be
used in space, they are looking into 3D printers on board, the reason, astronauts may need a tool they

African American Literature
To be a negro in this country and to be relatively conscious is to be in a rage almost all of the time, but
to be both negro and female is to live in a constant state of rage (Baldwin).
As an African American woman, my passions are deeply rooted in my identity. The ways in which
African Americans as well as women create works of literature in order to empower and govern their
identities is of central importance to me. With entities such as NAACP, Black Lives Matter, and many
more social groups rising to champion the needs and wants of the community, it is important that there
is a strong foundation voicing what those needs are. In dealing with writers directly related to the
culture, who describe the predicament of the individual in a specific time and place, I hope to evaluate

Data, Information, And Knowledge And How They Are...
Students Name: Marsil Hana
1. Describe the terms Data, Information, and Knowledge and how they are related to each other.
Data: is a collection of facts and studies, it can be thought of as a description of the world. For
example, when I say I have brown hair, hazel eyes and live in Chicago, those are all data.
Information: information is much more refined data, because it evolved to the point where it can be
useful and helpful to study a certain case or form of analysis.
Knowledge: it is basically what we know, maybe insights and facts that we ve learned in our life, or
some experience that we applied to data and information.
In my opinion, they are related to each other because everything started from facts and our knowledge
on specific topics and facts, and it all evolved to information and helpful data.
2. Describe 5 components of the database system and why they are important part of the system?
1 Data: it s very important because most companies and organizations generate, store and process
large amounts of data.
2 Hardware: it s also an important component because we store our data in the storage devices like
CD, DVD, floppy disk, and all the important parts like the processor and memory.
3 Software: it consists the DBMS that acts as a bridge between the user and DB. It also interacts with
the user through application and programs.
4 People: users are the human beings that need the data and information to help them with their daily
lives and work by interacting

Difference Between Linguistic Relativity And Linguistic...

Assignment report
Student Name: SIA NGAI LING
Student ID: 53064482
Tutorial Session: TZ 1
Tutor: Ms. Zhou Nannan Question 1
Linguistic relativity and linguistic determinism are strong version and weak version of Sapir Whorf
hypothesis respectively. According to XX (), linguistic relativity is defined as the variation of
cognitive processes among languages due to cultural differences. The individuals see, experience and
interpret the world based on the structure of the language they habitually use. Such linguistic
categories and usage influence thought and certain kinds of non linguistic behavior, carve up and
name the world differently. Linguistic relativism acknowledges that conceptual paradigms of thought
can be changed, extended, broadened and reshaped with respect to the experience the individual has or
the exertion the individual makes.
On the other hand, linguistic determinism is the idea that language and its structures limit and
determine human though patterns and knowledge, as well as thought processes such as categorization,
memory, and perception, assuming that language both reflects and limits human mentality and its
ability to make cross cultural connections such as bilingualism and translation. ... Show more content

It is because linguistic relativity is a matter of the way to view the world, which differs among cultural
variance; but, linguistic determinism is a matter of the cognition and perception process, which
relatively gives regular nonlinguistic cognitive processes to certain culture, and leads people in the
same culture to have same differentiation in most cases. Therefore, linguistic determinism sees only

Commodity In Karl Marx s Substranged Labor
In the first chapter of Capital, Commodities Karl Marx introduces to his readers the relationships
between things and human beings. He defined commodity as a material or a product as a way to
understand how value works. His thing was to get his readers more involve in understanding that the
labor of time is necessary to produce the commodity. He uses bottles and pencils as an example to
explain commodities. According to Marx when embodied labor time is measurable, it makes the
creation of relative value possible. This only happen when the material existence of things is put out
of sight in the market, but the value itself become an abstraction. The term use value, displays the use
of wearing a coat that can keep a person warm. And the word ... Show more content on

The labor is measured by the amount of time employee spend working. When the employer tries to
impose the norm this is when the disciplining of bodies comes to place. Marx argument of the
relationships between things are only possible through the relationships between human beings, which
means that capitalist mode of production can only make it look like it s the other way around, with the
relationships between things can also makes the relationship between people possible. What Marx was
trying to do was to emphasize the reversal and the existing of reality in human. In The Estranged
Labor the worker becomes alienated in the aspects and the Servitude of power. He explained, that
when the worker becomes a servant of an object rather than being the object of a secondary to the
worker s needs, meaning that the poorer they are the more riches they produce. The labor that is under
free enterprise is basically use to continue the system in which a worker is supposed to serve and
products labor. The more the worker works, the more they are denied the abilities of life. Many
workers end up working in order to get objects, rather than getting substance and by doing so they end

Theological Controversy Of Nestorius
The early fifth century saw the rise of a new theological controversy, spearheaded by Nestorius,
Archbishop of Constantinople. Nestorius took issue with the designation of Mary as God bearer,
Theotokos, and instead claimed she should be Christ bearer, Christotokos. Cyril of Alexandria,
Patriarch of Alexandria, came out strongly against Nestorius and wrote On the Unity of Christ to
uphold Mary as Theotokos. For Cyril, the theology of Mary as God bearer is essential and necessary
to understanding how the incarnation works. This Mariology is seen not only in On the Unity of
Christ, but also in a prayer he composed as well. In these two writings of differing scope and purpose,
Cyril argues that denying Mary as God bearer also denies the incarnation, and therefore the economy
of salvation. Cyril argues three key points that must be true in order for the incarnation to effectively
save humanity: Jesus must be a fully divine and equal member of the Trinity; Jesus must be fully man
and assume all of human flesh; and Christ had to be born into the world through Immaculate
Conception. These are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cyril argues for Christ s divinity throughout On the Unity of Christ, such as when he characterizes
Christ as being ineffably begotten by nature from the Father and coeternal with him as explained in
John 1:14 (Cyril 53). Cyril then goes on to describe Christ as God in an appearance like ours, and the
Lord in the form of a slave. This is what we mean when we say that he became flesh, and for the same
reason we affirm that the holy virgin is the Mother of God (Cyril 55). Although God took on flesh, no
part of God s divinity was lost; rather, God s divinity became coexistent in Christ s human

Similarities Between Tell Me A Riddle And The Rocking...
Tell Me A Riddle and The Rocking Horse Winner are similar stories as they both focus primarily on
the lives and hardships of the mothers and their eldest children in the story. Tillie Olsen s story Tell
Me A Riddle can be compared to DH Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner with similarities in
theme. Both Olsen and Lawrence focus on the theme of neglect and abandonment driven by the lack
of attention the eldest children receive from their mothers. However Olsen addresses this theme
through symbolism whereas Lawrence uses personification. The new idea that is revealed about
neglect and abandonment through the analysis is that it can be both intentional and unintentional and
can be interpreted differently by different characters.
In both Tell Me A Riddle and The Rocking Horse Winner Olsen and Lawrence use the theme of
neglect and abandonment to describe the relationship between the eldest children in the story and their
mothers. For example in Tell Me A Riddle Emily feels abandoned by her mother after the birth of her
sister. This is because her mother could no longer care for Emily which led her to send Emily to the
convasalent home. It states I used to try to hold and love her after she came back, but her body would
stay stiff, and after a while she would push away (Olsen,4). At this point Emily is separated from her
family for eight months, not being able to hold on to personal belongings that remind and connect her
to them. Emily feelings of abandonment is evident here as

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Krabbe s Disease
Krabbe s disease has many signs and symptoms. There are three stages of this condition in infantile
form. Stage 1: The infant is seemingly normal and healthy for the first couple months after birth.
However during early onset of this disease, the child has signs of incoordination, vomiting, irritability,
unexplained fevers and stiff posture. Initial symptoms that may occur are seizures (Wenger 2000).
There is slight developmental regression and behavioral abnormalities, in particular, displaying
hypersensitivity to sound and touch (ORDR). Throughout this stage, the Cerebrspinal Fluid (CSF)
protein concentration at this point is significantly increased (Wenger 2000). The CSF is a liquid that
bathes the brain and spinal cord. Its function is to cushion the brain and spinal cord, protecting against
injury. It also circulates chemicals and certain nutrients that are filtered from the blood and it also
removes waste products from the brain (Lantos 2011).
The second stage of Krabbe s disease involves aplasia and hypoplasia, which is a defective
development of the abdominal wall musculature. There is also hypertonia, which is damage to the
Central Nervous System (CNS). The CNS is the brain and the spinal cord, which controls most of the
functions of the body and mind. There is also visual impairment, sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL),
cognitive impairment, and electromyography (EMG) abnormalities (ORDR). These symptoms vary
from person to person (Wenger 2000). Some less common

Analysis of Wedgewood´s The Thirty Years War Essay
Wedgwood, C.V. The Thirty Years War. London: Lowe Brydone Ltd, 1938. Print. It is difficult to
determine when the Thirty Years War really began. Ultimately, a culmination of events led to the
tension between the countries of the Ottoman Empire. Prior to the war s beginning on May 23, 1618,
Europe was in a state of religious, political, and imperial turmoil. The Lutherans, Catholics, and
Calvinists were all competing for religious dominance. Political leaders tried to advocate for their
religions in the elections. There was much controversy regarding the new kings of Bohemia and

Although Wedgwood mentions the incident, she doesn t emphasize it being a huge turning point with
regard to the conflicts in Germany. The extraordinary chance which had saved three lives was a holy
miracle or a comic accident according to the religion of the beholder, but it had no political
significance (Wedgwood p. 79). The Denfenstration of Prague is the initial event that instigated the
tension because it was a rebellion. People became angry and fought for what they thought was right.
Frederick and Ferdinand began to raise their own armies by asking for help from other European
countries. Ferdinand received assistance from Maximilian of Bavaria. In Western Civilizaton, it also
mentions him getting help from Spain. He ensured this help by promising Frederick s lands to them.
Wedgwood explains that this could be considered unconstitutional according to the Peace of
Augsburg. Ferdinand signed this document declaring that German liberties would be observed in
1555. This means that each country can have its own religion if it s Catholic or Lutheran and that they
are the Electors for the empire. If the German princes do not consent to the impeachment of Frederick
as Bohemian king, then giving the land away is stealing. Frederick asked England for support,
especially since he was married to the English King s daughter Elizabeth. Unfortunately, the king had

To begin my search I went to my favorite search engine, Yahoo.com. I have always found that this
engine is the easiest to use, and gives you the best information. At first, I researched all volcanoes, not
just Mt. Rainier. There was so much information out there that I found it difficult to narrow it down to
just 10 for my annotated bibliography. I was able to spend hours on the computer exploring the
various sites and finding out new information. From most of the sites I went to I was able to link to
other sites that had to do with the same subject. I found this to be very useful in doing my research.
Not only did I find information about volcanoes and how they work, I found places where I could buy
volcano merchandise, watch real time videos of eruptions, and look at volcano cams from around the
world. I learned so much about all kinds of volcanoes from my research, but when it came down to
answering the questions that I had asked, there were two web sites that I found were the most useful,
The US Geological Societies Cascades Volcano Observatory, and Volcanoes Online. These two I
found to be the most useful in my research.
Mount Rainier is located in Washington, and it basically dominates the landscape of a large part of
western Washington. The mountain is 4,329 meters, and it is what

Sacagawea History
Idaho has a fascinating history. From the state s Native American history and settlers to World War II,
and the states 1900 s disaster, Idaho has an exciting past. Plus Idaho has the best potatoes!
In August 1805, four European white men on horses arrived in what s now the Idaho Montana border.
The men were Captain Meriwether Lewis, John Shields, George Drouillard, and Hugh Mc Nell. All
these people belonged to a group of 59 explorers called the Corps of Discovery. In what is now South
Dakota a Shoshone woman, Sacagawea, became part of the expedition.
Corps of Discovery met a traveling band of Shoshones before they entered Idaho. Sacagawea
recognized their leader, he was her brother who she had not seen in five years. Lewis and Clark were
not successful without Sacagawea. When Sacagawea was little she was kidnapped from her people
and taken to live with the Mandan tribe. Sacagawea married a french trapper. Both Sacagawea and her
husband joined Lewis and Clark s expedition. She was very helpful for talking with native people and
trading.
David Thompson, a Canadian explorer, built a fur trading post on the shores of Lake and Oreille in
1809. Two more posts were built in 1834. One of the forts is called Fort Hall, founded by the
American Nathaniel Wyeth. The other fort is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1. Abstract
The purpose of the report is create awareness and understanding of the Reduction of carbon content
and recycling of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) components and to highlight the
opportunities for timely action by researchers and practitioners in this field. Through examples from a
diversity of literature sources this paper defines the problems and the scope of ICT environmental
sustainability.
In order to save the organization a protocol must be used to provide a framework that estimate the
carbon content. The organization must prefer to outsource some of the equipment which produces
more carbon. Otherwise different infrastructure can be built to dump the out dated products. The
equipment can be reuse or sold at the lower rate instead of dumping. The advanced and best quality of
equipment s is used so that they work properly for long span of time.

Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar
Why, sir, [I m] a carpenter (1,i,6). This line from Shakespeare s Julius Caesar is certainly one of the
most innocent ones. Say that to anyone you find and they will either think you re actually a carpenter
or find themselves extremely, though harmlessly, confused. Say Why, sir, I m Brutus and people will
instantly brand you a traitor. This is exactly how Dante classified Brutus in his epic poem Inferno,
along with fellow Caesar killer Cassius. In Inferno, a fictionalized Dante is led by the poet Virgil into
the nine layers of Hell. Brutus and Cassius are in the ninth and last layer, reserved for traitors. They,
along with Judas Iscariot, are continually gnawed at by Lucifer, who is encased in ice. While both

Brutus described Caesar s killing after the fact as if he was describing an assisted suicide that they and
just carried out, saying So are we Caesar s friends, that have abridged/His time of fearing death
(3.1.115 6). It seems that by this quote, death was always on Caesar s mind. He also justified the
murder to the public by saying, Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more (3.ii.23).
Considering the above, it seems that either Brutus was lying, or that he had a weak love to Rome, and
even more so to Caesar. If Brutus truly loved Rome more, he would have accepted guidance from the
more experienced. Clearly, Brutus was not motivated to kill Caesar because of his love of

Transcendentalism In Self Reliance
Self Reliance reflects Emerson s beliefs on Transcendentalism by stating how Emerson believes in
inspiration, happiness, and the spiritual measures of inspiration through the depth of the human mind
itself. The power which resides in him is new in nature, and none but he knows what that is which he
can do, nor does he know until he has tried (Pg. 774). Emerson in Self Reliance puts majority of the
focus on people trusting themselves, using good judgement, and their own knowledge because a new
independent idea makes history not the idea that is copied. Trust thyself; every heart vibrates to that
iron string (Pg. 774). Through this idea that Emerson created, the thought of people trusting

Emerson, himself was a Transcendentalist and he influenced other people to be one as well because he
believed everyone should create their own ideas and not fall to be just another person in a society, take
a leap of faith. The power which resides in him is new in nature, and none but he knows what that is
which he can do, nor does he know until he has tried (Self Reliance 774). Emerson was able to
consider himself a Transcendentalist because he took a leap of faith and always made his very own
context as to what he was against, and what he viewed as a current situation. The overall reason
Emerson was a transcendentalist is because he created a different view for society and went outside of
the norm to create ideas people had yet to even contemplate. Therefore, by creating a new idea for the
society, people were able to expand their knowledge and build from Emerson s ideas. All in all,
Emerson believed in his own thoughts so he shared them with the public. As emerson stated as well as

British Imperialization Of Africa
The reason for British Imperialisation of Africa was for wealth, minerals, hold of authority, trade of
gold and other resources and agricultural advancement. The British occupations of Africa were met
with serious resentment by the native Africans. These resulted in wars and other violent conflicts.
Imperialism by definition is were a nation or empire extends its power by the colonization of
territories. This may include exploitation of these territories. Many empires throughout history have
imperialized many territories; one of those being The British Empire. The British Empire was one of
the largest and most successful empires the world has ever seen. At its peak, this empire covered about

Europe knew Africa was there, but because of all the obstacles the empires of Europe would have to
face such as the Sahara Desert and the Islamic settlers already there, imperialism in the America and
Asia continents were much more affordable and simpler, even though the African continent was just
the Mediterranean Sea away. Because of this, Britain s main focus for imperialism before the 1900 s
was in India. Unfortunately, the only thing most of the British knew about Africa during that time
were the travesties of the African Slave Trade.
However, that would change very quickly. Africa went from being the least colonized continent to
being an area for rampant European colonization. This sudden increase of European occupation
became known as The Scramble of Africa. For example, Within a couple of decades the small
European presence in isolated coastal communities seemed to extend across virtually every last nook
and corner of the continent. This rapid period of colonization is often referred to as the Scramble for
Africa and it extended in time from just the 1870s until the Boer War at the end of the century (
Maproom ). There were many contributing factors to the sudden increase of African imperialization.

Cultural Secrecy Breed s Suspicion
Due to their ambiguity secretive religions open themselves up to many misconceptions and issues
especially when concerning the law. In my research paper I will identify a religion that has had
problems arise due to their secretive nature. I popular culture secrecy breed s suspicion. Religion in
particular is expected in the west to be open, honest and welcoming, based largely on the model of
Christianity. Plenty of religions involve secrecy, where believers are told things forbidden to outsiders,
and where further information is often revealed in stages as believers rise through the ranks. With
religion there are lot of reasons for secrecy, to avoid outsiders obtaining sacred knowledge only privy
to people in a certain religion or occult. Most religions believe that knowledge is sacred and to be
shared with only insiders in the religion who wholehearted believe and respect the religion. I recall as
a child I was apart of a free Mason group called Order of the Eastern Star. We had weekly meetings
and before the meetings adjourned we were reminded that we could not let anyone know what happen
in the meeting, not even our mother, which to say did not sit well with her. The information that is
shared often is not highly classified, but with many religious groups it s more so about inclusiveness.
Because you are apart of this particular group you are included in something bigger than yourself,
which is what some people search for in religion. On the on the side of secrets

Chadwick s Argumentative Analysis
A little girl is enrolling in kindergarten. She meets all the qualifications necessary for the school,
except for one: she has not received all the required vaccinations. Her parents have heard stories of
children developing autism after receiving the MMR vaccine, and they are not willing to give her
immunizations. These parents are not alone in this fear, though there is no scientific evidence that any
vaccine causes autism. This false idea arose from a study (which was eventually revoked) in The
Lancet, a medical journal in the United Kingdom, which showed that children developed
gastrointestinal problems related to autism after receiving the MMR vaccine.

Upon hearing these results as well as similar growth rates in other areas, many parents began to refuse
vaccinations for their children. Although this is a significant increase, there are other reasons that
explain an increase in autistic children. Due to more research in neurological conditions, there was
more information available about autism. Children were often diagnosed as simply mentally retarded
when in fact they had a disorder on the autism spectrum. Therefore, a change in diagnoses contributed

The Value Of Education
Education should be valued to the highest extent. Education is how we obtain knowledge about our
surrounding. Education gives us a perspective on issues, politics, and on life in general. Education
allows us to interpret things in uniques that we didn t imagine were possible. Most importantly,
education gives us a platform to change the world. Without education, many people would be lost.
Education is a delicate process that should be handled with care. Educators have the abilities to form
knowledge within their students. Some of them use their abilities to the fullest power, while others
completely abuse their abilities. As an 18 year old college student, I have come across both kinds of
educators, even though I wish I had not. In my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I kept a clear head because he had not even begun to teach anything yet. His ignorance was further

One is violence; the other is sex. Whenever either of those are present in our environment, they have
survival value for us. Also, according to Gentile, when you are playing a violent video game you have
an adrenaline rush, which is another reason why children are drawn to violent video games. The
human body has stress hormones known as testosterone and cortisol. These two hormones create this
so called adrenaline rush (Yenigun). Gentile also says there are three main things that causes kids to
like violent video games. The first item, according to Gentile, is control. When holding a controller or
remote for a video game you feel as if you are in charge. Second, is a sense of belonging when you are
playing. Gentile says, If you play with other people or have friends who play the same game or who
play online, you also are meeting your belonging needs. The final thing that draws children to violent
video games is the feeling of doing well. When you are playing video games you fell that you are able
to do things well, which consequently raises your confidence. [Games] often train you how to play as
you re playing, and so you start feeling competent, says Gentile. Violent video games are also of
interest to young people because there are no consequences. When playing a violent video game, it is

One of the intercultural experiences that comes to mind for me is when I moved from Huntington

very similar. The first couple weeks were exciting and new, we visited a lot of tourist sites and we
knew our life in Chicago was going to be fun and exciting. The people seemed about the same as we
were and most of the brands we had come to love in CA were available to us in our new home. After a
few weeks I found a job at a local bowling alley. Soon after I began to realize I was missing home, I

Negative Effects Of Social Media On Teenagers
Social media has a negative impact on teenagers
Teens spend hours and hours of their day on social media. Studies show that an average teen spends
roughly about 27 hours a week on the internet. A majority of people today use at least one form of
social media; it has it s positives, there are lots of things good about social media sharing photos and
videos with your friends, getting to talk with people you know, seeing what other people are doing.
Then there is the questions, is social media is putting too much pressure on society? Does social media
ruin our connection/relationship with people offline? Do people feel like they need to change to fit in
with what they see online?
Lets look at ways that social media could be putting too much pressure on society: models who post
photos in small amounts of clothing showing off their perfect figures or beauty bloggers who spend
hundred of pounds on make up to change the way their face looks completely. Most of the time what
we see on social media is very different to what is behind the screen; most teens don t consider this.
Often teens feel like they have to change the way they look or keep up with popular trends just to feel
like they are good enough. Teens scroll through their phone for ages looking at other peoples posts
thinking wow their so pretty or they have such an exiting life , this can make teens feel like they need
to live up to the standard of there internet role models. People create a false version of

Transcendentalism and Christianity Have Incompatible Beliefs
Transcendentalism is a group of new ideas in literature, religion, culture, and philosophy that emerged
in the early to middle 19th century (Wikipedia). Transcendentalism first started with Ralph Waldo
Emerson, one of the pioneers of the Transcendentalists, who in his essay Nature , criticized several
things, especially the Unitarian church (Wikipedia). Many other Transcendentalists such as Thomas
Parker, Henry David Thoreau, Amos Bronson Alcott, and James Freeman Clark, along with Emerson,
were critics of their society because they didn t like the fact that people had unthinking conformity
(Stanford 1). Transcendentalists work to make the world better through social ... Show more content

This means that God occupies the first place in their beliefs; therefore, they will never put God and
nature in the same unity as Transcendentalists do. A last incompatible belief about God between
Transcendentalists and Christians is that Transcendentalists believe that human beings can become
like God, that they can grow a resemblance to God (Stanford 2). Christians do not have the same point
of view about that because, for them, God is perfect and the creator of everything, including humans
(Certificate 2). So, logically, there is no way that humans could achieve the perfection of their creator.
The incompatible beliefs about God make the two doctrines even more incompatible because
Transcendentalists don t see God as powerful as Christians do. The last area where the beliefs of
Transcendentalists and Christians are incompatible is about the Bible. The Bible or Holy Scriptures
contains the Old and New Testaments which are the written words of God and Christians believe
strongly in it. They say that it was given by God and contains his knowledge which is the basis of
Christian s theology (Certificate 2). But Transcendentalists don t like the idea of putting theology
between people and God (Gentry). They believe that people can by themselves know more about God
or the truth in general (Lewis). This is incompatible with the Christians beliefs about the truth found in
the Bible. Another reason why Transcendentalist and Christian beliefs about the

  • 2. The Benefits and Pitfalls of the Internet Using the internet is becoming popular nowadays since many people spend their time working on it, but is using the internet beneficial for them? It may have some advantages and disadvantages as most new technologies do, and some of these advantages and disadvantages can be seen on online assignment submission, online social networking and online news sites. Pete Bridge and Rob Appleyard (2005), senior lecturers in radiotherapy and oncology at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK, compared the way that paper based assignments are submitted with the online equivalent within the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in a study. 47 first year undergraduate radiotherapy physics students were the volunteers, and surveys were used to gather their submission and receiving feedback experience. The same group of students was required to compare their online submission perception with another assignment submission, which was a paper based assignment. Students were asked to compare the quality of the submission process based on ease of compilation (Bridge Appleyard, 2005). The results indicated some positive and negative sides of using the internet to submit assignments. 88% of the students reported that online assignment submission can help the save time, and many said they found it financially beneficial. In addition, 93% of students preferred receiving their feedback online rather than printed and handed to them (Bridge Appleyard, 2005). The main disadvantage students reported by ... The patient is taking Lasix for its ability to increase urinary output in renal patients with reduced renal blood flow and for control of hypertension and for its ability decrease the amount of fluid in intravascular volume, reduce cardiac preload and help treat his acute pulmonary edema (Mayo Clinic, 2017). The mechanism of action for Lasix is, it inhibits reabsorption of sodium, potassium and chloride cotransporters in the loop of Henle and distal tubules. Lasix causes rapid diuresis, decreasing vascular volume, increased urinary excretion and decreased cardiac output and blood pressure (Adams Urban, 2016). The routes that Lasix is supplied are, PO, IV and IM. It is distributed in body tissues. It is metabolized in incremental amounts by the liver and excreted by the kidneys (Adams Urban, 2016). The patient is taking 120mg PO/day. The recommended dose is 20 80 mg in one or multiple doses with a maximum of 600mg/day (Adams Urban, 2016). The patient s dose exceeds the recommended once daily dose and recommend decreasing the dose or giving in divided doses 6 8 hours apart. Once the patient s acute pulmonary edema is controlled the dosage should be reduced to prevent hypokalemia and electrolyte imbalances associated with loop diuretics and renal failure. Contraindications include, patients with allergies to Sulfonamide antibiotics should not take Lasix. Concurrent use with NSAIDS decrease the effectiveness. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Rene Descarte s Argument Essay Rene Descartes was a French philosopher in the 17th century. Descartes was not pleased with what philosophy was based on in during this time in history. He took it upon himself to raise questions in the world of philosophy. He questioned well known beliefs and beliefs held by many, not just philosophers. In his meditations, he explains his process of emptying his mind and starting completely over. In this paper, I am going to evaluate and question his thoughts on philosophy, use his writing to raise questions about my own beliefs, and compare his thoughts to my own. Descartes begins his essay by explaining what he is doing and why he is doing it. He says that his whole life has been built on lies so he decides to clear his mind of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He argues that this is different from normal thought because one can think of something without it being present. He uses the example of the chiligon by saying that he can think of this many sided shape, but he cannot form a picture (or image) of it in his mind. Descartes argues that one uses effort when they are imagining, but not while thinking. He also says that imagination is not a necessity for being; that he could go on without it. One does not need imagination to exist, Descartes believes. Descartes thinks that thought is the mind turning on, or arguing against, its own ideas, and that when imagining things, the mind turns its attention to one s body. From these statements and conclusions, Descartes makes his final conclusion by saying people cannot imagine things without the existence of their body. He tells readers that this might be only a chance. At this point he cannot say for sure if the body exists. He then goes on to interpret and think through the uses of senses and decides if they deceive him. He wonders if they deceive him of the existence of material objects existing. He says that this cannot be so though, because they come from God, and again, God is not a deceiver. I object to the first argument that we discussed. Descartes cogito beliefs. • 6. The Journey Of Candide The Story of Candide is a short but diverse story that tells of a young man s journey for love and understanding and the hardships he faces, all the while keeping a very strong, positive and philosophical outlook on life. The novel takes place both in fictional and existing locations throughout Latin America and Europe during the 1750 s. Voltaire believed that the society he lived in had many flaws, which are often illustrated and satirized in Candide. Candide s journey portrays the flawed human assumption that the grass is always greener on the other side as well as giving the reader an apt example of an individual s journey from innocence through a series of trials and tribulations to becoming a mature, experienced and enlightened individual. This essay will examine the development of the character of Candide over the course of the text as well as commenting on the final conclusion that the protagonist comes to regarding the possibility or otherwise of achieving happiness. In order to stop illegal immigrants and drug smugglers from entering the U.S. from Mexico through the border, a wall must be built. In previous years, many countries and territories around the world have attempted to build walls, and many have had very much success. For example, Most of the walls built after World War 2 and the Cold War still exist today. There were a total of 110 walls built between that time period. Professor Nazli Avdan led a study that had a goal of identifying if a border wall reduced or increased the risk of a transnational terrorist attack. This study found that since the year 1900, transnational terrorist attacks have seen a thirteen percent annual decrease in countries with border walls (Border fences reduce...attacks). This has been a real focal point that President Donald Trump has used to get people to agree with him. Another reason of his includes the disrupting of the funneling of illicit money and drugs into the United States of America (Border fences reduce...attacks). African American Literature To be a negro in this country and to be relatively conscious is to be in a rage almost all of the time, but to be both negro and female is to live in a constant state of rage (Baldwin). As an African American woman, my passions are deeply rooted in my identity. The ways in which African Americans as well as women create works of literature in order to empower and govern their identities is of central importance to me. With entities such as NAACP, Black Lives Matter, and many more social groups rising to champion the needs and wants of the community, it is important that there is a strong foundation voicing what those needs are. Knowledge: it is basically what we know, maybe insights and facts that we ve learned in our life, or some experience that we applied to data and information. Describe 5 components of the database system and why they are important part of the system? 1 Data: it s very important because most companies and organizations generate, store and process large amounts of data. 2 Hardware: it s also an important component because we store our data in the storage devices like CD, DVD, floppy disk, and all the important parts like the processor and memory. 3 Software: it consists the DBMS that acts as a bridge between the user and DB. Such linguistic categories and usage influence thought and certain kinds of non linguistic behavior, carve up and name the world differently. Linguistic relativism acknowledges that conceptual paradigms of thought can be changed, extended, broadened and reshaped with respect to the experience the individual has or the exertion the individual makes. Nestorius took issue with the designation of Mary as God bearer, Theotokos, and instead claimed she should be Christ bearer, Christotokos. Cyril of Alexandria, Patriarch of Alexandria, came out strongly against Nestorius and wrote On the Unity of Christ to uphold Mary as Theotokos. For Cyril, the theology of Mary as God bearer is essential and necessary to understanding how the incarnation works. This Mariology is seen not only in On the Unity of Christ, but also in a prayer he composed as well. In these two writings of differing scope and purpose, Cyril argues that denying Mary as God bearer also denies the incarnation, and therefore the economy of salvation. Cyril argues three key points that must be true in order for the incarnation to effectively save humanity: Jesus must be a fully divine and equal member of the Trinity; Jesus must be fully man and assume all of human flesh; and Christ had to be born into the world through Immaculate Conception. Cyril argues for Christ s divinity throughout On the Unity of Christ, such as when he characterizes Christ as being ineffably begotten by nature from the Father and coeternal with him as explained in John 1:14 (Cyril 53). This is what we mean when we say that he became flesh, and for the same reason we affirm that the holy virgin is the Mother of God (Cyril 55). • 14. Similarities Between Tell Me A Riddle And The Rocking... Tell Me A Riddle and The Rocking Horse Winner are similar stories as they both focus primarily on the lives and hardships of the mothers and their eldest children in the story. Tillie Olsen s story Tell Me A Riddle can be compared to DH Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner with similarities in theme. Both Olsen and Lawrence focus on the theme of neglect and abandonment driven by the lack of attention the eldest children receive from their mothers. However Olsen addresses this theme through symbolism whereas Lawrence uses personification. The new idea that is revealed about neglect and abandonment through the analysis is that it can be both intentional and unintentional and can be interpreted differently by different characters. In both Tell Me A Riddle and The Rocking Horse Winner Olsen and Lawrence use the theme of neglect and abandonment to describe the relationship between the eldest children in the story and their mothers. For example in Tell Me A Riddle Emily feels abandoned by her mother after the birth of her sister. This is because her mother could no longer care for Emily which led her to send Emily to the convasalent home. It states I used to try to hold and love her after she came back, but her body would stay stiff, and after a while she would push away (Olsen,4). At this point Emily is separated from her family for eight months, not being able to hold on to personal belongings that remind and connect her to them. • 15. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Krabbe s Disease Krabbe s disease has many signs and symptoms. There are three stages of this condition in infantile form. Stage 1: The infant is seemingly normal and healthy for the first couple months after birth. However during early onset of this disease, the child has signs of incoordination, vomiting, irritability, unexplained fevers and stiff posture. Initial symptoms that may occur are seizures (Wenger 2000). There is slight developmental regression and behavioral abnormalities, in particular, displaying hypersensitivity to sound and touch (ORDR). Throughout this stage, the Cerebrspinal Fluid (CSF) protein concentration at this point is significantly increased (Wenger 2000). The CSF is a liquid that bathes the brain and spinal cord. Its function is to cushion the brain and spinal cord, protecting against injury. It also circulates chemicals and certain nutrients that are filtered from the blood and it also removes waste products from the brain (Lantos 2011). The second stage of Krabbe s disease involves aplasia and hypoplasia, which is a defective development of the abdominal wall musculature. There is also hypertonia, which is damage to the Central Nervous System (CNS). The CNS is the brain and the spinal cord, which controls most of the functions of the body and mind. There is also visual impairment, sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), cognitive impairment, and electromyography (EMG) abnormalities (ORDR). These symptoms vary from person to person (Wenger 2000). It is difficult to determine when the Thirty Years War really began. Ultimately, a culmination of events led to the tension between the countries of the Ottoman Empire. Prior to the war s beginning on May 23, 1618, Europe was in a state of religious, political, and imperial turmoil. The Lutherans, Catholics, and Calvinists were all competing for religious dominance. Political leaders tried to advocate for their religions in the elections. There was much controversy regarding the new kings of Bohemia and political stress between the Bourbons and the Hapsburgs. The extraordinary chance which had saved three lives was a holy miracle or a comic accident according to the religion of the beholder, but it had no political significance (Wedgwood p. 79). The Denfenstration of Prague is the initial event that instigated the tension because it was a rebellion. People became angry and fought for what they thought was right. Frederick and Ferdinand began to raise their own armies by asking for help from other European countries. Ferdinand received assistance from Maximilian of Bavaria. In Western Civilizaton, it also mentions him getting help from Spain. He ensured this help by promising Frederick s lands to them. Wedgwood explains that this could be considered unconstitutional according to the Peace of Augsburg. Ferdinand signed this document declaring that German liberties would be observed in 1555. This means that each country can have its own religion if it s Catholic or Lutheran and that they are the Electors for the empire. If the German princes do not consent to the impeachment of Frederick as Bohemian king, then giving the land away is stealing. • 34. My Migration To Chicago One of the intercultural experiences that comes to mind for me is when I moved from Huntington Beach, California to Chicago, Illinois. I was in my early 20 s and my roommates talked me into moving with them. Since I was originally from New York I anticipated living in Chicago would be very similar. The first couple weeks were exciting and new, we visited a lot of tourist sites and we knew our life in Chicago was going to be fun and exciting. The people seemed about the same as we were and most of the brands we had come to love in CA were available to us in our new home. After a few weeks I found a job at a local bowling alley. Soon after I began to realize I was missing home, I began to miss the beach, the Mexican cuisine I was used to and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Negative Effects Of Social Media On Teenagers Social media has a negative impact on teenagers Teens spend hours and hours of their day on social media. Studies show that an average teen spends roughly about 27 hours a week on the internet. A majority of people today use at least one form of social media; it has it s positives, there are lots of things good about social media sharing photos and videos with your friends, getting to talk with people you know, seeing what other people are doing. Then there is the questions, is social media is putting too much pressure on society? Does social media ruin our connection/relationship with people offline? Do people feel like they need to change to fit in with what they see online? Lets look at ways that social media could be putting too much pressure on society: models who post photos in small amounts of clothing showing off their perfect figures or beauty bloggers who spend hundred of pounds on make up to change the way their face looks completely. Most of the time what we see on social media is very different to what is behind the screen; most teens don t consider this. Often teens feel like they have to change the way they look or keep up with popular trends just to feel like they are good enough. Teens scroll through their phone for ages looking at other peoples posts thinking wow their so pretty or they have such an exiting life , this can make teens feel like they need to live up to the standard of there internet role models. • 36. Transcendentalist Transcendentalism and Christianity Have Incompatible Beliefs Transcendentalism is a group of new ideas in literature, religion, culture, and philosophy that emerged in the early to middle 19th century (Wikipedia). Transcendentalism first started with Ralph Waldo Emerson, one of the pioneers of the Transcendentalists, who in his essay Nature , criticized several things, especially the Unitarian church (Wikipedia). Many other Transcendentalists such as Thomas Parker, Henry David Thoreau, Amos Bronson Alcott, and James Freeman Clark, along with Emerson, were critics of their society because they didn t like the fact that people had unthinking conformity (Stanford 1). Transcendentalists work to make the world better through social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that God occupies the first place in their beliefs; therefore, they will never put God and nature in the same unity as Transcendentalists do. A last incompatible belief about God between Transcendentalists and Christians is that Transcendentalists believe that human beings can become like God, that they can grow a resemblance to God (Stanford 2). Christians do not have the same point of view about that because, for them, God is perfect and the creator of everything, including humans (Certificate 2). So, logically, there is no way that humans could achieve the perfection of their creator. The incompatible beliefs about God make the two doctrines even more incompatible because Transcendentalists don t see God as powerful as Christians do. The last area where the beliefs of Transcendentalists and Christians are incompatible is about the Bible. The Bible or Holy Scriptures contains the Old and New Testaments which are the written words of God and Christians believe strongly in it. They say that it was given by God and contains his knowledge which is the basis of Christian s theology (Certificate 2). But Transcendentalists don t like the idea of putting theology between people and God (Gentry). They believe that people can by themselves know more about God or the truth in general (Lewis). This is incompatible with the Christians beliefs about the truth found in the Bible. Another reason why Transcendentalist and Christian beliefs about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
