Kant s Theory Of Doubt
DOUBT AND CERTAINTY: A PHILOSOPHICAL RELATIONSHIP OF THE TWO
PARADOXICAL NOTIONS
I. INTRODUCTION
It is a human nature to be somewhat terrified to the unknown. However, the world is a giant
conglomerate of doubt. An extensive analysis is subjected to an extensive doubt. On the other hand,
humans continuously seek for certainty regarding a specific situation. We want to be certain and aware
on what is coming, in order to be prepared and fully know the truths. However, is it possible for
humans to achieve certainty with everything? What would the world be like if humans do not have
any hint of doubt?
The avenue of philosophy is primarily about addressing the fundamental questions regarding reality,
existence and truth in order to fulfil one s curiosity. Philosophizing is asking the right questions to
come up with the right answers. Relevantly, the feeling of doubt impels man to ask philosophical ...

EXPOSITION OF THE TWO NOTIONS
A. Understanding Doubt
Doubt is generally defined as a state of mind; some would say an affliction of the mind. It refers to a
condition in which one is unable or unwilling to accept, on the face of it, a given statement as true. 1
When we say we are in doubt, what we mean is that we are not altogether certain about the correctness
of a proposition, the reliability of a person or even the existence of something.
Not all doubts are created equal. Doubt in its various forms exists. One of these is in the form of
quotidian doubt which is pertains to suspecting that the proponent of a proposition is most probably
not telling the truth, and at the same time, may even have reason to do so. For instance, when a very
probable suspect who is questioned by the police asserts that he is truly innocent, one may not accept
the statement as absolutely true.
Additionally, if a doctor were to tell a close relative of a seriously ill patient that there is a very good
chance of recovery, one may have some doubts about what the physician

Long Walk to Forever
Long walk to forever 1) Vocabulary study: write a definition for each of the following terms and then
use each in a sentence that clearly demonstrates the meaning: Furlough: A vacation or leave of
absence granted to an enlisted person. A.W.O.L.: Away from military duties without permission, but
without the intention of deserting. A soldier or other military person who is absent from duty without
leave. Colonnade: A series of trees planted in a long row, as on each side of a driveway or road.

Scarlett O Hara is the protagonist in Margaret Mitchell s 1936 novel, Gone with the Wind, which was
later turned into a film. Fayetteville is specifically where Scarlett O Hara went to school, I think that is
why he made reference towards her. 6) Repetition in any story is not accidental; the author makes a
conscious decision to repeat things. Whatever is repeated usually directs the reader to a clear
understanding of the story and is often related to the theme. a) What is the line of dialogue that Newt
keeps repeating? Newt kept repeating and asking Catherine in the beginning if they could go for a
walk, but also, he kept asking and making sure that if it was true when she said that she loved him. b)
What is the significance of this repeated line? i.e., what does it mean? I think when he kept asking her
if she did truly love him, it was because he was probably hopeful and wanted to hear her say I love
you too . He probably knew her very well that, he knew that she really didn t love Henry her husband
to be. 7) When the author was planning his story, he decided to build the clues to his theme. Part way
through the story, a bell rings in the tower of the school for the blind nearby. What do you think the
author is trying to tell you? The very first thing in the story it says, They had grown up next to each
other, on the fringe of the city, near fields and woods and orchards, within sight of a lovely bell tower

Is Beowulf A Successful Hero Or King
When people think of a successful king, they often associate them with the hero. However, many fail
to notice that no one could own both the title king and the hero at the same time; they need to give up
either one of the titles to become a truly successful hero or king. In the famous epic poem, Beowulf,
despite Hrothgar rules Danes, another hero, Beowulf, shows up to solve Danes problem while the true
Danes king sits on his throne and simply gives all honor and credit to Beowulf. To become a truly
successful leader, one must know to put down his honor and fame for his people s safety. Furthermore,
a ruler who cares about his people in every aspect fits the title king, not a person who goes off on a
quest to defeat the villain for his own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Beowulf has not defeated Grendel yet, Hrothgar warmly welcomes Beowulf and makes him as
comfortable as possible to prepare his fight with Grendel, because Hrothgar understands clearly that
without Beowulf s help, he cannot protect his people.
Continuing, even though he did not defeat Grendel by himself, Hrothgar demonstrates the wisdom a
king needs to rule his kingdom. At the arrival of Beowulf s troops, Hrothgar knew distinctly that he
needed to gain their loyalty in order to let Beowulf fight Grendel, so he generously gave plenty of
drinks and he even brought out his own wife to please them, ...the Helming woman went on her
rounds, / queenly and dignified, decked out in rings, / offering the goblet to all ranks, (620 622).
Hrothgar utilizes his tactful mind to gain these warriors trust, even though he could not fight anymore
like Beowulf, the Danes king s wisdom remains and makes him qualify as a king. Furthermore,
Hrothgar gives advice to Beowulf, which reveals the insight Hrothgar has and the great worldview he
yields. He says to Beowulf, ...beware of that trap. / Choose, dear Beowulf, the better part, / Eternal
rewards. Do not give way to pride. (1758 1760). In these lines, Hrothgar warns Beowulf about the
danger pride wields, which can infiltrate the strongest warrior; he pointed out the most dangerous trap,
which people in that time period ignored easily when they become a leader. Overall, Hrothgar gives a
great example of a true

Racecar Drivers Vs Car Driving
Driving in circles is often one of the first things that comes to mind when someone hears the word
racecar driver. However, driving in circles is nowhere near a complete explanation of what a racecar
driver can do. Most people know racecar drivers drive with the purpose of going fast. Their goal when
driving a racecar is to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. They drive endless loops of a
racing circuit to improve previous lap times by milliseconds, just to say they were the fastest. This is
something that few understand, and racecar drivers have difficulty explaining why this is their passion
to others. It s almost as if they are looking into a different boxcar than others. Sometimes when people
think of a racecar driver, they think, Can t anyone drive a car? or Oh driving in circles like NASCAR?
That must be easy. These answers couldn t be farther from the reality, and it s astonishing how
unknown the world of auto racing is to many people. Racing is not just driving per se. Racing is the
art of driving fast with a bunch of other like minded idiots, who all risk their lives with the, widely
misunderstood, willingness to endanger their life just to say they beat the other guy. Racing and
racecar drivers are entirely different from driving on the street in a countless number of ways.
Throughout this paper a street driver will refer to someone who is not a racecar driver, and a racecar
driver will refer to someone who races cars.

Magnesium Research Paper
The element magnesium is a metal (alkaline earth metal) and solid at room temperature. It has a
density of 1,740 kg/m3 and it is found in nature. It s isotopes are Mg 24 (relative abundance: 78.99%),
Mg 25 (relative abundance: 10.00%), and Mg 26 (relative abundance: 11.01%). Magnesium has a
melting point of 1,202o F and a boiling point of 1,996o F. This element is a slow reacting element but
its reactivity rises with oxygen. The crystal structure of Magnesium is simple hexagonal.
Magnesium was recognized by Joseph Black as an element in 1755. But, it wasn t purified until 1808,
when Cornish chemist Sir Humphry Davy created a small electric current and created magnesium

diseases and disorders. Magnesium is considered important for the functioning of the body because it
is involved in various processes such as the beating of the heart to the function of the body s muscles
and hormones. Some symptoms of magnesium deficiency are: nausea, loss of appetite, and fatigue.
The good news is that there are also effective ways to fight magnesium deficiency, and one is through
eating magnesium rich foods.
There are many interesting facts about magnesium. One of them is, China is the leading producer of
magnesium, responsible for about 80% of the world s supply. Magnesium is needed for hundreds of
biochemical reactions in the body. 60% of the magnesium in the human body is found in the skeleton,
39% in the muscle tissue, and 1% is extracellular. Magnesium is named for the Greek city of

Essay about India and the Black Market
Sep 20, 2005
BLACK MARKET AND THE INDIAN ECONOMY
Statistics: It is said that black money in India accounts for 20 % of GDP. If this is true, then black
money generated every year must be around Rs 400,000 crore or $ 80 billion. This is a huge amount,
more than the entire budget of the government at the Centre. We have a government that spends about
Rs 350,000 crore a year, most of it on itself, and asks for accounts of every paisa. On the other side,
we have black money worth Rs 400,000 crore every year, which is just guesswork, and there are no
accounts. This money goes into property, which is why real estate prices are so high, and of course

Similarly, payments for the sale and purchase of immovable property, various kinds of consumer
goods and services beyond a certain stipulated amount should also be made mandatory through
banking channels. While doing so, the Finance Minister will not only be plugging one of the biggest
loopholes leading to tax evasion but would also reduce the need for ready cash and hence the printing
of currency notes on a large scale. The biggest chunk of black money is invested in real estate and
gold. The circulation of black money in the housing sector is beyond imagination. Since the house tax
is based on the current purchase price only one fourth of the money is paid by cheque and the rest in
unaccounted cash. Even an honest buyer of flats / houses is forced to pay in black money if he wants
to acquire one.
History: The period 1946 61 was one of the intense creativity. A black or parallel economy emerged
both in the wake of the Second World War and the expansion of the economic activity in the post
independence period. Incentives were provided through the taxation laws to promote savings and
investment; this made the tax laws more complex. Then, there was the need for larger revenues to
finance the plans of economic development. Thorough investigations were, therefore, conducted into
the structure of taxation not only with a view to widen the base of

The History of The Founding of Spalding (Extra): The history of Spalding is one that few know, yet is
incredibly interesting. The island nation of over 11 million, is relatively unknown, yet has played a
major role in global history, global conflicts, and has a deeply interesting founding story. Founded as a
country in 1543, there is a long path from its founding to where it is today. The discovery of Spalding
occurred in 1439, 100 years before confederacy. The island was discovered by an expedition set out by
the Walthford Family; an affluent family, who sailed the world looking for uninhabited, profitable
lands. When the expedition returned to France, they reported that the island had large Quartz deposits
in the Northern, mountainous side of the island. Quartz, being a highly profitable mineral, drew the
Walthford Family to send a large crew of workers there to mine it. Ferrand Walthford, the eldest son,

Essay on Revenge In Two Literary Works
Revenge as a theme is cleverly built upon throughout Hamlet; with it being the driving force behind
three of the key characters in the play. Revenge is a frighteningly vicious emotion, which causes
people to act blindly and without reason. In Poe s, The Cask of Amontillado , Montresor enacts
revenge for reasons unknown. Hamlet in contrast, has all the motive in the world to complete his task;
yet he constantly hesitates. The text reveals that the need for revenge creates a stranglehold on the
genuine emotions, thoughts, and actions of three characters: Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Laertes; son
of Polonius, and Fortinbras; Prince of Norway. This hold makes the characters act beyond their
standard ethical positions and makes them helpless to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is obstructed from his genuine rational moral view and if he were morally coherent, he would have
seen that taking such drastic action removes himself from his genuine thoughts. In The Cask , the
perspective we are given on the story is limited; which allows for an open interpretation of what his
true motives for revenge are. As Baraban states Montresor elaborates a sophisticated philosophy of
revenge: I must not only punish, but punish with impunity (48) presenting the reader with a vibrant
view of what he intends to do. The question one begs is, for what reason? Most readers would finish
this story and assert that mentally, Montresor is insane. As Baraban states, Poe s intriguing silence
about the nature of the insult that made Montresor murder Fortunato has given rise to explanations of
Montresor s deed through insanity. Richard M. Fletcher, for example, maintains that Montresor s
actions are irrational and that therefore he is mad. (50) Montresor states at the opening of the story,
you,who so well know the nature of my soul ( are words likely said on his death bed to his confessor;
being that he committed this deed fifty years prior, it would make sense that he is finally coming
clean. Moreover, since he is commenting on the nature of his soul, it is plausible to assume that

Direct Leadership Vs Organizational Leadership Essay
Direct Leadership versus Organizational Leadership Independent of the Army and country you serve,
leadership is always an important subject. There are many civilian books and military manuals talking

Australian Sports Law
Australian Sports Law Introduction Australian sports law is grounded in the principles of Natural
Justice to ensure procedural fairness. Nevertheless, the sports tribunals ability to hold hearings and
make determinations without allowing athletes the benefit of legal counsel is troublesome. Clearly, the
process often involves valuable rights which should be asserted and preserved by knowledgeable,
zealous legal counsel at the first opportunity. The single difference between the Waverley and Nagle
cases shows how issues that are vitally important to an individual can turn on a single fact;
consequently, while Waverley and Nagle did not involve sports tribunals, they do show the importance
of paying careful attention to facts, which also applies to sports tribunals. Finally, the inclusion of
women in sports, particularly Golf, is a natural outgrowth of anti discrimination laws and progressive
Australian attitudes create fertile ground for further attempts by women to compete with men. Part A:
The Natural Justice Process in Sports Tribunals Sports disputes fall into two general categories:
external and internal. External sporting disputes are handled in a state Court system and generally
include: contract or tort; intellectual property; trade practices and competition; criminal law; taxation;
broadcasting and media; and other statutory based disputes (Bellamy Hayes, 2007, pp. 5 6). Internal

The Romantic Era Of The Age Of Enlightenment
The Romantic Era was a literary movement that occurred in the late 18th century and the early 19th
century. During this movement, artists and authors alike rebelled against the established order and
classism of the time, and the values once believed in during the Age of Enlightenment (The Romantic
Era ). While the people of the Age of Enlightenment valued reason, and focused on the new and
original (The Enlightenment), the people of the Romantic Era focused on the emotions of the
individual, nature, and the narrowed outlook of life seen through the simplicity of undereducated
societies (The Nineteenth Century: Romanticism ). .A number of the literary pieces and artistic
paintings from this time were based not only on the emotions of the artists, but were also shaped by
the changing world around them.
During the Romantic Era, wars were fought as countries were torn apart over the class systems and the

Lastly, cytokinesis which is the splitting of the daughter cells furrow will be formed and the cell will
pinched into two. Meiosis According to the Biology Online Organization (2006), Meiosis contained
two type of phases meiosis I and meiosis II. In the prophase I, homologous chromosomes in the
nucleus begin to pair up with one another and then split into chromatids where crossing over can
occur. For metaphase I, the chromosomes will align at the equator of the cell. The bivalents are
aligned randomly increasing the genetic variation via independent assortment. In the anaphase 1, the
homologous chromosomes move to opposing poles from the equator. A new nuclei will be formed
around each pole alongside each new chromosomes compliment in the telophase I. For prophase II,
the second meiotic division will be initiated and the nuclear membrane will disappear. In the
metaphase II, the pair of chromatids will be lined up at the equator. For the anaphase II, via the spindle
fibers, each of these chromatids will be moved away from the equator to the poles. Lastly, in the
telophase II the four new haploid gametes are created which will thus fuse with the gametes of the
opposite sex to form a zygote. 4. Procedures: 4.1 Preparation of onion root tip slide Firstly, the onion

Grizzly Man Documentary Analysis
Grizzly Man is a more than a documentary than a film. It recorded the real life of Timothy Treadwell
who lived among wild bears in Alaska without any acting. What touched me most is his unselfish love
to wild animals. Not only to bears but also to other animals. These animals became the most important
part in his life. He smiled because of bears. He cried because of bears. He spent 13 years to live with
bears without any measures to protect himself. They are bears. That can kill and tear him into pieces!
He said to his friends if he dead someday, that is the way he wanted. However, he still choose to love
them, protect them and fight for them. He loved bears with his life and he and his girlfriend died
because of those bears in the end.

Science Fari Final Report for Oven Baked Ice Cream Essay
Science Fair 2012

Question
If I put ice cream to bake in an oven, will the egg white and sugar mixture insulate it well enough so it
won t melt?
Hypothesis
If I put the ice cream into the egg white mixture and heat it up in the oven at 260°, it will not melt
because of the insulation.
Variables
Independent Variables
The independent variables are those that are changed throughout the experiment. In my experiment I
am going to change the amount of egg white mixture on the ice cream (in my first experiment I put
very little and the experiment didn t work out). I will also be changing the type of ice cream. This will
not affect the experiment but it will change the taste. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To improve the ovens, fire chambers were invented that contained the wood fire, and holes were built
into the top of these chambers that cooking pots with flat bottoms could be placed directly upon
replacing the cauldron. Around 1728, cast iron ovens began to be made in quantity. These first ovens
of German design were called Five plate or Jamb stoves. Around 1800, Benjamin Thompson invented
a working iron kitchen stove called the Rumford stove that was designed for very large working
kitchens. However, the Rumford stove was too large from the average kitchen and inventors continued
to improve their designs. Cast iron stoves continued to evolve, with iron gratings added to the cooking
holes, and added chimneys and connecting flue pipes. Jordan Mott invented the first practical coal
oven in 1833. British inventor, James Sharp patented a gas oven in 1826, the first semi successful gas
oven to appear on the market. It was not until the late 1920s and early 1930s that electric ovens began
to compete with gas ovens, however, electric ovens were available as early as the 1890s. Some
historians credit, Canadian Thomas Ahearn with inventing the first electric oven in 1882. The
Carpenter Electric Heating Manufacturing Company invented an electric oven in 1891. In 1910,
William Hadaway designed the first toaster made by Westinghouse, a horizontal combination toaster
cooker. (Bellis, 2012)

In Flanders Fields
We are the Dead. Short days ago, We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and
now we lie, In Flanders fields. This is quote from John McCrae s influential poem about the fallen
soldiers who fought in World War 1. After McCrae, who was a physician in the war, witnessed his
friend Alexis Helmer die in combat, John was inspired to write a poem which recognized the soldiers
who fought at the Second Battle of Ypres. This quote from McCrae s poem is a very poignant and
compelling message which I believe effectively summarizes the tone and main idea of In Flanders
Fields. I feel that through the poem, McCrae sought to show the more human and truthful side of
soldiers who died in war. John s statement we, lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, exhibits the softer,
more sympathetic aspect of the soldiers who lost their lives in battle. McCrae also narrates his poem
through the eyes of the deceased, by saying We are the Dead, to firmly grab the viewers attention and
allow them to see a more personal side of the tragedy that occurred during the Second Battle of Ypres.

Charities run campaigns to try to prevent young people in participating in risk taking behaviours. One
charity that focuses on reducing alcohol related harm in general is Drinkaware. Drinkaware is a
charity that was created with the objective to change the public attitude towards alcohol, and
encourage them to reduce their intake and reduce alcohol related harm (Memorandum of

The NSPCC have published a Provision for young people who have displayed harmful sexual
behaviour (Smith et al, 2013). This provision looks at how local authorities help young people who
have been reported for harmful sexual behaviour. Although harmful sexual behaviour has not been
defined, the interpretation is that the provision is based on young people who need help after causing
harm through sexual behaviour, for example, sexual abuse. It was found that the procedures and
guidelines that support good practice in cases like this do not offer explicit intervention and prevention
techniques, which may cause future issues to occur, such as reoffending. As well as this, the NSPCC
(2016) have released an advice webpage for parents to understand what is normal sexual behaviour for
the ages of 14 16, and what to do if they are worried about certain behaviour. The NSPCC advice page
reassures parents that it is normal for young people aged 14 16 to start exploring their sexual
behaviour privately, as they are going through or have been through puberty. If they seem to have
forceful or aggressive sexual behaviour, this may be a warning sign. If parents are worried, they are
told to speak to their child to try to understand why they are acting this way, or speak to a health
professional for advice. It is also advised that at this age, young people may come across porn online.
However, this may cause distress (NSPCC, 2015). Also, it was found that watching online porn
changed the way 28% of surveyed 11 18 year olds viewed relationships (The Telegraph, 2013). This
suggests that young people may be influenced by what they see online. This is important as the
NSPCC advise parents to keep an eye on their teenagers behaviour, and if they are worried, to seek

Correctional Facilities and Environments
Processes of Correctional Environments:
Correctional facilities play an integral role in the criminal justice system as many individuals who are
convicted of offenses are normally placed on probation rather than being sent to prison. In other cases,
convicted criminals who have served their jail terms are usually released on parole. In addition to
meeting other requirements, criminals are required to stay out of trouble during parole and probation
periods. In order to prevent offenders from committing new offenses; probation, parole, and
correctional treatments officers and specialists are involved in supervision of these criminals.
Probation officers are involved in supervising criminals placed on probation rather than prison while
parole officers supervise those who have been released from prison. On the other hand, correctional
treatment specialists counsel criminals and develop rehabilitation plans for them to follow upon their
release from prison or parole.
Processes of Jails, Prisons, Probation, and Parole: As part of accomplishing their mandates, probation
and parole officers usually meet the offenders through personal contact with them and their families.
These officers meet with the criminals in their homes and employment places for therapy sessions and
also seek help from community organizations and other necessary institutions and groups. In some
cases, parole and probation processes involve the requirement for the offenders to wear electronic

False Picture of Marriage in The Dead by James Joyce and...
Illusion versus Reality: Marriage in Modern Literature
Modern literature is known for questioning society and its various conventions. One question that
these works often ask is, What is real? Some modern authors explore this question by placing their
characters within self constructed illusions that are later shattered by the introduction of reality.
Marriages are frequently at the center of this theme, with one spouse crafting an illusory impression of
the other. Modern literature demonstrates that a marriage built upon illusion will falter when exposed
to reality. In order to understand the effects of illusion on marriages in modern literature, we will
explore two pieces: The Dead by James Joyce and Odour of Chrysanthemums by D.H. ... Show more

As Gabriel reflects on Gretta s sorrow for this lost young man, he comes to accept that he has never

Is Google Making Us Stupid Essay
Is Google Making Us Stupid?
How long is the Nile River? How do I take out a loan? Where do babies come from? Nowadays,
instead of the long searches after a trip to the library, creeping through the old books collecting dust on
our parent s shelves and even looking through an encyclopedia, instead we would find the answers
these answers through a quick Google search. Google, introduced to the public September of 1997, is
a commonly used search engine all over the internet. Google is roughly an amazing 40% of the
internet. From toddler to teen to senior citizen, we use Google as a crutch for our daily information.
But to say that Google is making us stupid is not necessarily right? Google more so is making us
dependant on fast paced information, and therefore diluting our sense of concentration and our ability
to receive and maintain that information.
Nicholas Carr, author of the article Is Google Making Us Stupid, wrote about his experience with the
search engine and how it s literally changing the way his thought process receives information. Carr
writes, I m not thinking the way I used to think... my concentration often starts to drift after two or
three pages. Google is a high speed search engine that spoils us with information on whatever we want
within a few clicks of a button. As of opposed to searching through hours of books and encyclopedias,
Google is a more time efficient source for knowledge. The problem with this instrument isn t that it s

Middle Class Life During The Industrial Revolution
The Middle Class Life during
The Industrial Revolution began in England around the 1780 s. It was mainly based on the cotton
industry and subsequently many of the inventions that came out of this period were mainly for
producing and manufacturing cotton. Another stage of the Industrial Revolution was based on
inventions. This is when most of the luxury goods were produced for the public. The Industrial
Revolution is seen by scholars, as noted in A History of Western Society, as basically moderate and
evolutionary. Even though the Industrial Revolution was almost inevitable many people took
advantage of the new developments that came about and raised their standards of living because of the

Thus demand for goods within the country complemented the demand from the colonies. This was
very important because this raised the standard of living for the average families. It was like giving a
cookie to a child, the child would always want another one. As soon as the families experienced the
better life they will always strive to achieve that same quality of life.
There were many important developments to the cotton industry that came about due to the Industrial
Revolution. The problem the cotton industry had was due to inadequate machinery or the lack of
machinery. Clothes and other things that came from the cotton industry were being produced way too
slowly and the price of the material was way too expensive for the average family. The first problem
was that yarn was not being fed fast enough to the weaver, but in 1769, two new inventions solved the
problem, the spinning jenny and the water powered frame, both of which provided yarn faster.
Edmund Cartwright, who invented the power loom, combined the machine s characteristics and
purposes into one machine in 1800. Cleaning cotton was also a tedious and time consuming job, so in
1793, Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin, which could clean cotton 50 times faster than the previous
outdated methods. Many people would actually walk around in filthy garments all of their lives but
because of the new inventions they could afford to buy undergarments.

Essay The General Prologue
The General Prologue The Canterbury Tales The General Prologue The most popular part of the
Canterbury Tales is the General Prologue, which has long been admired for the lively, individualized
portraits it offers. More recent criticism has reacted against this approach, claiming that the portraits
are indicative of social types, part of a tradition of social satire, estates satire , and insisting that they
should not be read as individualized character portraits like those in a novel. Yet it is sure that Chaucer
s capacity of human sympathy, like Shakespeare s, enabled him to go beyond the conventions of his

The portraits do not follow any particular order after the first few pilgrims have been introduced; the
Knight who comes first is socially the highest person present (the Host calls him my mayster and my
lord in line 837). The Knight is the picture of a professional soldier, come straight from foreign wars
with clothes all stained from his armour. His travels are remarkably vast; he has fought in Prussia,
Lithuania, Russia, Spain, North Africa, and Turkey against pagans, Moors, and Saracens, killing many.
The variety of lords for whom he has fought suggests that he is some kind of mercenary, but it seems
that Chaucer may have known people at the English court with similar records. The narrator insists:
He was a verray, parfit, gentil knight, but some modern readers, ill at ease with idealized warriors, and
doubtful about the value of the narrator s enthusiasms, have questioned this evaluation. His son, the
Squire, is by contrast an elegant young man about court, with fashionable clothes and romantic skills
of singing and dancing. Their Yeoman is a skilled servant in charge of the knight s land, his dress is
described in detail, but not his character. The Prioress is one of the most fully described pilgrims, and
it is with her that we first notice the narrator s refusal to judge the value of what he sees. Her portrait is
more concerned with how she eats than how she prays. She is rather too kind

Analysis Of Shakespeare s Antigone And Julius Caesar
Piper Jacobs
12/23/2014
Literature Survey II Honors
Essay: Antigone and Julius Caesar Option 3
The involvement of women is very important in the two stories, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare
and Antigone by Sophocles. Throughout each story it becomes clear that the ideas and biases
surrounding women play an important part in how society views women, and how women see
themselves. Readers also see these ideas spread into the minds of women affecting what they do in
their life, and how they act. Antigone and Ismene, from Antigone, and Calpurnia and Portia, from
Julius Caesar are both examples of this major theme. These four women heavily influence their play
and the outcome. Because of this it is clear to see the importance and relevance of women in Antigone
and Julius Caesar.
In both Antigone and Julius Caesar the societal views that women are weak, submissive and inferior
play a major role in each story and their conclusions. In Antigone, King Creon is shocked when he
discovers that it is Antigone that disobeys him. The betrayer was right under his nose, but he was too
blind to see it. King Creon was blinded by the belief that women are inferior.
Likewise, in Julius Caesar, women are considered inferior. When Portia, Brutus wife, wants Brutus to
trust her she has to prove herself strong by stabbing herself. It is the societal view of women that
makes her have to prove herself. Another major example of this is when the threat of being considered
weak by his peers

Stereotype A Thought By Beverly Daniel Tatum
Stereotype a Thought Today, many believe that stereotypes have been eradicated throughout our
modern world, this is far from the truth. Beverly Daniel Tatum, an author of several books including
Why Are Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria asks, How did academic achievement become
defined as exclusively white behavior? Tatum has an interesting point, however stereotyping is not
just about race it can be about gender bias, or body issues too. Ann DuCille, author of From
Multicultural Barbie and the Merchandising of Difference says; Barbie s body is a consumer object
itself a vehicle for display of clothing and spectacular trappings of a wealthy teenage fantasy life .
Ducille gives a good example of body politics, and the importance of not only focusing on race. Thus,
is a good example of how stereotypes are learned by how one is treated in school or at home.
Education about racial identity, gender equality, and body shaming, to an extent, will help eliminate
some forms of stereotyping and create a more understanding and equal society. Therefore schools are
not the problem, stereotypes, however racist, sexist, or just plain mean, are learned at home and in
schools from peers, parents and teachers alike. In a way, stereotypes will never truly be eliminated
from our world because from the day we are born we notice differences. One may argue that it is just a
distinction between people, which constitutes stereotyping. Just

Basic Elements of Poetry
Poetry is defined in many ways but there is one thing in common in poetry and that, it is a form of
communication. For you to understand the poem, you have to identify the idea or theme that the writer
wants to deliver, his purpose in writing the poem and identify techniques he used in his poem.
Speaker
Every poem has a speaker, or a voice that talks to the reader. In prose, the narrator is the speaker but
not necessarily the author. In poetry, the speaker is not necessarily the poet. It can also be a fictional
person, an animal or a thing.

Comparing Abercrombie And Fitch, Forever 21, American...
Social Marketing
Of the hundreds of named brand clothing that form part of the retail and fashion industry I chose to
compare, for my analysis, Abercrombie Fitch, Forever 21, American Eagle, and H M. These stores are
prominent, well known for selling apparel, shoes, and accessories by the means of offering sales and
promotions to their customers. This is a clever strategy for attracting customers, allowing them to
believe that they bought goods at affordable, convenient prices and not to mention the prestigious
name prescribed to the clothing brands. Using keyhole.co as my main source, I obtained relevant and
valuable information regarding the status of these brands. My intentions were to compare a period of
14 days, however, due to the limited access that I received from my free trial, the program only
allowed me to see fewer of the dates than I anticipated. I want to take this opportunity and mention
ahead of time that due to the various and distinctive products that are sold from these stores, when
looking for the spending capacity I decided to focus on shirts/ jeans for men and women and compare
the prices among them since each of these retailers carry those items and as a way to make this report
easier to contrast and comprehend. Also, when approaching the section of setting , I screen shotted
some of the images on Instagram and made them into a collage to separate the type of clothes and
trends that each of these brands sell currently. In the following modules

Of The Vietnam War Burdens In Tim O Brien s The Things...
Forty two years after the Fall of Saigon, the Vietnam War remains an affliction for Vietnam War
Veterans and their families. Millions of our youth were forced to leave their home and carry
inconceivable burdens. Thus, as a Vietnam War Veteran, Tim O Brien can depict thoroughly our
Veterans burdens in The Things They Carried . His story brings us to First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross
and his platoon in war torn Vietnam. Cross is the commanding officer; however, he does not
concentrate on the war but on his unrequited love. As a result, a Viet Cong kills one of his
subordinates, Ted Lavender. His death traumatizes the platoon, especially its commander.
Furthermore, the narrator also depicts the burden of not only their equipment but also their
psychological distress. In response to O Brien s short story, Steven Kaplan writes a criticism The
undying uncertainty of the narrator in Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried. . In his criticism,
Kaplan focuses on the uncertainty of the war. He argues that O Brien s ultimate purpose is to display
the undying uncertainty of the Vietnam War (10). Despite his concrete and logical argument, he fails
to address the significance of the soldiers physical and psychological burdens, which emphasizes the
story s theme; therefore, his argument does not delineate the story entirely. Even though he does not
describe the full theme, he uncloaks the general mood of the story. According to Kaplan, the only
certain thing during the Vietnam War was

Abraham Lincoln s Assassination
John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865. He received help with
the plan and execution of it. John Wilkes Booth did not act alone for the assassination of President
Lincoln.
John Wilkes Booth had eight accomplices who helped with the assassination of Lincoln. The people
who helped Booth were close friends or, they were people who wanted revenge. Booth and his eight
conspirators planned the whole assassination ( An overview of... ). They planned the assassination in
Mary Surratt s boardinghouse ( An overview of... ). They made many plots on how to kidnap Lincoln
but they all failed. John Wilkes Booth wanted to kidnap Lincoln at first ( An overview of... ). They
wanted to kidnap Lincoln and bring them to Richmond, Virginia. So they could trade him for
Confederate soldiers that were captured from the war ( An overview of... ). John Wilkes Booth at first
wanted to kidnap Lincoln on March 20 but Abraham failed to show up (Abraham Lincoln s

Booth did not, so they set fire to the barn to make him come out, but instead Sergeant Boston Corbett

Lincoln in the left side of the head. Lincoln was shot on April 14 and died on April 15th at 7:22 A.M (

Medtronic Health Insurance Case Study
Running Head: Medtronic s Health Insurance; Revisions 0 Medtronic s Health Insurance; Revisions
Shelley Black OL620 Total Rewards August 4, 2017 Summary According to the case study, Consumer
Health Care: Medtronic s Health Insurance Options, by Herzlinger, Hurwich and Bokser, I have come
to the conclusion that Medtronic was trying to offer an array of services to their employees but yet
really didn t analyze what they were providing. Currently, Medtronic offers three distinct health plans
that are comparable with their employee s as well as industry competitors. However, there were
several areas that I found concerning that is in regards to cost where the company is spending more
money than they need to. Within this paper, I will be addressing some factors in areas such as where
money could be saved so that they may be able to use this additional money in other areas for the
company. Restrictions At the time, Medtronic made decisions what they thought would be good for
the company as well as their employees. However, there are several areas of concern that could be
redesigned to help accommodate cost as well as the company. One area that I saw right away that
needs attention immediately was the redesign of the part time employee s hours. Currently, Medtronic
considers part time as those who work 32 or less hours per week. According to the Affordable Care
Act (ACA), if an employee works a minimum of 30 hours per week, they are considered full time and

Analysis Of Eileen Chang s Red Rose, White Rose
When a man is longing to have sex with a woman, he becomes interested in her soul, and deceives
himself that he is in love with that soul; only after possessing her body, he can forget about her soul.
Perhaps this is the only way to liberate himself. This is a famous quote from the novel Red Rose,
White Rose written by Eileen Chang, one of the most influential contemporary Chinese female
writers. There is no doubt that some modern critics and feminists may point out that this idea of
gender role is opposed to gender equality and balance of a relationship. However, men and women
throughout generations do possess distinctive functions congenitally and, eventually, lead to different
mentality and physiological reactions when they fall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concubines were selected in the Forbidden City, and the healthiest and most virtuous girls were
honored to serve the emperor. Although a bit exaggerated, relation between the emperor and
concubines symbolize the dynamics between male and female.
In the sharp contrast to active sperms, female only produces one ovum cell per month, which mainly
functions as a protector and a nurturer . It creates a safe and warm environment, producing nutrimental
supplies that nourish the embryo. In addition, egg is so loyal that, with the help of cortical granules
filled with enzyme , it forms a cell membrane that keeps other sperms from entering. Imagine that
millions of agile sperms competed with others and anxiously approach to one target egg no wonder
only the most courageous and intelligent one wins the battle. Battle among sperms, to some extent,
epitomizes male mindset of fighting off other men. Therefore, they are naturally more active; their
organs for locomotion and control are inherently more flexible in order to maximize the possibility to
defeat other males.
Male s biological advantages empower him to be fully aware of his individuality and existence as an

physical development is relatively simple and regular. At around fifteen or sixteen years old,

Non Effective Followers And The Groups Of Followers,...
The four groups of followers operated as alienated followers, sheep, yes people, and survivors, all
lacking the key factor of being able to succeed without strong leadership. Sheep lack initiative and
sense of responsibility, while yes people refuse to be against the leader (Wren 195). Alienated
followers tend to think more independently but are prone to group think. They are normally
dissatisfied and/or resentful. Any of these three groups can at any time merge into the survivor group
because this group of followers operate under the slogan better safe than sorry (Wren 195). If a leader
is surrounded by these types of followers, it is more difficult for him to be a good leader. Also, if the
leader already retains personal motives, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transformational leadership is used by a leader to appeal to the moral values of followers in an
attempt to raise their consciousness about ethical issues and to mobilize their energy and resources to
reform institutions (Yukl Charismatic 261). Pseudotransformational leadership refers to
transformational leadership, but when the leader is self consumed, exploitive, power oriented, [and]
possess[es] warped values (Hinz). When a leader appeals to followers self interest and offers an
exchange of benefits, the leader is utilizing transactional leadership (Yukl Charismatic 261).
When first studying Jim Jones, one would think that he led through transformational leadership;
however, he actually leds through pseudotransformational leadership. Since Jones preached about
equality and accepting all men, his messages seemed consistent with ethical morals. He also formed a
lively church setting, where people would dance, jump, run around, yell, and scream. This stirred
emotions in most members and even visitors, and is often talked about in movies (McCloud). One
would think that people would be tired after all the commotion, but, on the contrary, people felt
revived and energized after services. Jones finally showed his true style when he moved part of his
congregation to Guyana. At this location, Jones

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Wellness
What is wellness? Wellness is a way of being well or being healthy. But did you know that there are
different types of wellness. The different types of wellness are social wellness, occupational wellness,
spiritual wellness, physical wellness, intellectual wellness, emotional wellness, environmental
wellness, and financial wellness. There are different strengths and different weaknesses of wellness for
anyone, but my two strongest wellness is environmental wellness, social wellness and my weakest
wellness is intellectual wellness.

I would ask them What happened or What s going on and I give them the choice if they wanna tell me
or not. It s there problem and they can do whatever they want with there problem. Overall, I just
wanna be there for people when they need it so they feel great instead of mad and sad. I do like being
caring for myself and others, but sometimes my emotional wellness affects me. My grandpa died in
august, I always think of him and hope he s in a better place than here. When people would talk about
their family members who passed away, I would always think about my grandpa. I will forever love
and miss him. My parents affect this positively because they taught me to be respectful,
compassionate, nice, caring and so many more. They show taught me manners and how to act in
public. They have had a HUGE impact on my social wellness.
What is an intellectual wellness? An intellectual wellness is when a person uses their resources and
creative mind to work with activities. Intellectual wellness is my weakest wellness because I don t
enjoy engaging or participating in intellectual discussions a lot. That s my weakness because I really
don t have any smart ideas like what intellectual people do. I sometimes even have ideas, but I never
share them because I think it s too dumb or it s a wrong idea to use. Even sometimes, I get shy when I
talk to new people, but when I m with my friends, I just burst

  • 2. Kant s Theory Of Doubt DOUBT AND CERTAINTY: A PHILOSOPHICAL RELATIONSHIP OF THE TWO PARADOXICAL NOTIONS I. INTRODUCTION It is a human nature to be somewhat terrified to the unknown. However, the world is a giant conglomerate of doubt. An extensive analysis is subjected to an extensive doubt. On the other hand, humans continuously seek for certainty regarding a specific situation. We want to be certain and aware on what is coming, in order to be prepared and fully know the truths. However, is it possible for humans to achieve certainty with everything? What would the world be like if humans do not have any hint of doubt? The avenue of philosophy is primarily about addressing the fundamental questions regarding reality, existence and truth in order to fulfil one s curiosity. Philosophizing is asking the right questions to come up with the right answers. Relevantly, the feeling of doubt impels man to ask philosophical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... EXPOSITION OF THE TWO NOTIONS A. Understanding Doubt Doubt is generally defined as a state of mind; some would say an affliction of the mind. It refers to a condition in which one is unable or unwilling to accept, on the face of it, a given statement as true. 1 When we say we are in doubt, what we mean is that we are not altogether certain about the correctness of a proposition, the reliability of a person or even the existence of something. Not all doubts are created equal. Doubt in its various forms exists. One of these is in the form of quotidian doubt which is pertains to suspecting that the proponent of a proposition is most probably not telling the truth, and at the same time, may even have reason to do so. For instance, when a very probable suspect who is questioned by the police asserts that he is truly innocent, one may not accept the statement as absolutely true. • 5. Is Beowulf A Successful Hero Or King When people think of a successful king, they often associate them with the hero. However, many fail to notice that no one could own both the title king and the hero at the same time; they need to give up either one of the titles to become a truly successful hero or king. In the famous epic poem, Beowulf, despite Hrothgar rules Danes, another hero, Beowulf, shows up to solve Danes problem while the true Danes king sits on his throne and simply gives all honor and credit to Beowulf. To become a truly successful leader, one must know to put down his honor and fame for his people s safety. While Beowulf has not defeated Grendel yet, Hrothgar warmly welcomes Beowulf and makes him as comfortable as possible to prepare his fight with Grendel, because Hrothgar understands clearly that without Beowulf s help, he cannot protect his people. At the arrival of Beowulf s troops, Hrothgar knew distinctly that he needed to gain their loyalty in order to let Beowulf fight Grendel, so he generously gave plenty of drinks and he even brought out his own wife to please them, ...the Helming woman went on her rounds, / queenly and dignified, decked out in rings, / offering the goblet to all ranks, (620 622). He says to Beowulf, ...beware of that trap. / Choose, dear Beowulf, the better part, / Eternal rewards. Do not give way to pride. (1758 1760). • 6. Racecar Drivers Vs Car Driving Driving in circles is often one of the first things that comes to mind when someone hears the word racecar driver. However, driving in circles is nowhere near a complete explanation of what a racecar driver can do. Most people know racecar drivers drive with the purpose of going fast. Their goal when driving a racecar is to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. They drive endless loops of a racing circuit to improve previous lap times by milliseconds, just to say they were the fastest. This is something that few understand, and racecar drivers have difficulty explaining why this is their passion to others. It s almost as if they are looking into a different boxcar than others. Sometimes when people think of a racecar driver, they think, Can t anyone drive a car? or Oh driving in circles like NASCAR? That must be easy. These answers couldn t be farther from the reality, and it s astonishing how unknown the world of auto racing is to many people. Racing is not just driving per se. Racing is the art of driving fast with a bunch of other like minded idiots, who all risk their lives with the, widely misunderstood, willingness to endanger their life just to say they beat the other guy. Racing and racecar drivers are entirely different from driving on the street in a countless number of ways. Throughout this paper a street driver will refer to someone who is not a racecar driver, and a racecar driver will refer to someone who races cars. The first noticeable ... As Baraban states Montresor elaborates a sophisticated philosophy of revenge: I must not only punish, but punish with impunity (48) presenting the reader with a vibrant view of what he intends to do. The question one begs is, for what reason? Most readers would finish this story and assert that mentally, Montresor is insane. Nevertheless, the sports tribunals ability to hold hearings and make determinations without allowing athletes the benefit of legal counsel is troublesome. Clearly, the process often involves valuable rights which should be asserted and preserved by knowledgeable, zealous legal counsel at the first opportunity. The single difference between the Waverley and Nagle cases shows how issues that are vitally important to an individual can turn on a single fact; consequently, while Waverley and Nagle did not involve sports tribunals, they do show the importance of paying careful attention to facts, which also applies to sports tribunals. Finally, the inclusion of women in sports, particularly Golf, is a natural outgrowth of anti discrimination laws and progressive Australian attitudes create fertile ground for further attempts by women to compete with men. During this movement, artists and authors alike rebelled against the established order and classism of the time, and the values once believed in during the Age of Enlightenment (The Romantic Era ). While the people of the Age of Enlightenment valued reason, and focused on the new and original (The Enlightenment), the people of the Romantic Era focused on the emotions of the individual, nature, and the narrowed outlook of life seen through the simplicity of undereducated societies (The Nineteenth Century: Romanticism ). .A number of the literary pieces and artistic paintings from this time were based not only on the emotions of the artists, but were also shaped by the changing world around them. During the Romantic Era, wars were fought as countries were torn apart over the class systems and the unjust treatment that the people of lower classes suffered. A list of the wars fought in this period includes The Battle Of Waterloo, fought by the emperor Napoleon , which ended in 1815,the revolutions of the countries France, Italy, Austria, and Prague, and The American Civil War, fought from 1861 to 1865 (Romanticism Timeline ). Lastly, cytokinesis which is the splitting of the daughter cells furrow will be formed and the cell will pinched into two. Meiosis According to the Biology Online Organization (2006), Meiosis contained two type of phases meiosis I and meiosis II. In the prophase I, homologous chromosomes in the nucleus begin to pair up with one another and then split into chromatids where crossing over can occur. For metaphase I, the chromosomes will align at the equator of the cell. The bivalents are aligned randomly increasing the genetic variation via independent assortment. In the anaphase 1, the homologous chromosomes move to opposing poles from the equator. A new nuclei will be formed around each pole alongside each new chromosomes compliment in the telophase I. For prophase II, the second meiotic division will be initiated and the nuclear membrane will disappear. In the metaphase II, the pair of chromatids will be lined up at the equator. For the anaphase II, via the spindle fibers, each of these chromatids will be moved away from the equator to the poles. Lastly, in the telophase II the four new haploid gametes are created which will thus fuse with the gametes of the opposite sex to form a zygote. 4. To improve the ovens, fire chambers were invented that contained the wood fire, and holes were built into the top of these chambers that cooking pots with flat bottoms could be placed directly upon replacing the cauldron. Around 1728, cast iron ovens began to be made in quantity. These first ovens of German design were called Five plate or Jamb stoves. Around 1800, Benjamin Thompson invented a working iron kitchen stove called the Rumford stove that was designed for very large working kitchens. However, the Rumford stove was too large from the average kitchen and inventors continued to improve their designs. Cast iron stoves continued to evolve, with iron gratings added to the cooking holes, and added chimneys and connecting flue pipes. Jordan Mott invented the first practical coal oven in 1833. British inventor, James Sharp patented a gas oven in 1826, the first semi successful gas oven to appear on the market. It was not until the late 1920s and early 1930s that electric ovens began to compete with gas ovens, however, electric ovens were available as early as the 1890s. This is quote from John McCrae s influential poem about the fallen soldiers who fought in World War 1. After McCrae, who was a physician in the war, witnessed his friend Alexis Helmer die in combat, John was inspired to write a poem which recognized the soldiers who fought at the Second Battle of Ypres. This quote from McCrae s poem is a very poignant and compelling message which I believe effectively summarizes the tone and main idea of In Flanders Fields. I feel that through the poem, McCrae sought to show the more human and truthful side of soldiers who died in war. John s statement we, lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, exhibits the softer, more sympathetic aspect of the soldiers who lost their lives in battle. The NSPCC have published a Provision for young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour (Smith et al, 2013). This provision looks at how local authorities help young people who have been reported for harmful sexual behaviour. Although harmful sexual behaviour has not been defined, the interpretation is that the provision is based on young people who need help after causing harm through sexual behaviour, for example, sexual abuse. It was found that the procedures and guidelines that support good practice in cases like this do not offer explicit intervention and prevention techniques, which may cause future issues to occur, such as reoffending. As well as this, the NSPCC (2016) have released an advice webpage for parents to understand what is normal sexual behaviour for the ages of 14 16, and what to do if they are worried about certain behaviour. The NSPCC advice page reassures parents that it is normal for young people aged 14 16 to start exploring their sexual behaviour privately, as they are going through or have been through puberty. If they seem to have forceful or aggressive sexual behaviour, this may be a warning sign. If parents are worried, they are told to speak to their child to try to understand why they are acting this way, or speak to a health professional for advice. It is also advised that at this age, young people may come across porn online. However, this may cause distress (NSPCC, 2015). Also, it was found that watching online porn changed the way 28% of surveyed 11 18 year olds viewed relationships (The Telegraph, 2013). This suggests that young people may be influenced by what they see online. Illusion versus Reality: Marriage in Modern Literature Modern literature is known for questioning society and its various conventions. One question that these works often ask is, What is real? Some modern authors explore this question by placing their characters within self constructed illusions that are later shattered by the introduction of reality. Marriages are frequently at the center of this theme, with one spouse crafting an illusory impression of the other. As soon as the families experienced the better life they will always strive to achieve that same quality of life. There were many important developments to the cotton industry that came about due to the Industrial Revolution. The problem the cotton industry had was due to inadequate machinery or the lack of machinery. Clothes and other things that came from the cotton industry were being produced way too slowly and the price of the material was way too expensive for the average family. The first problem was that yarn was not being fed fast enough to the weaver, but in 1769, two new inventions solved the problem, the spinning jenny and the water powered frame, both of which provided yarn faster. Edmund Cartwright, who invented the power loom, combined the machine s characteristics and purposes into one machine in 1800. Cleaning cotton was also a tedious and time consuming job, so in 1793, Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin, which could clean cotton 50 times faster than the previous outdated methods. The Knight is the picture of a professional soldier, come straight from foreign wars with clothes all stained from his armour. His travels are remarkably vast; he has fought in Prussia, Lithuania, Russia, Spain, North Africa, and Turkey against pagans, Moors, and Saracens, killing many. The variety of lords for whom he has fought suggests that he is some kind of mercenary, but it seems that Chaucer may have known people at the English court with similar records. Analysis Of Shakespeare s Antigone And Julius Caesar Piper Jacobs 12/23/2014 Literature Survey II Honors Essay: Antigone and Julius Caesar Option 3 The involvement of women is very important in the two stories, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and Antigone by Sophocles. Throughout each story it becomes clear that the ideas and biases surrounding women play an important part in how society views women, and how women see themselves. Readers also see these ideas spread into the minds of women affecting what they do in their life, and how they act. Antigone and Ismene, from Antigone, and Calpurnia and Portia, from Julius Caesar are both examples of this major theme. These four women heavily influence their play and the outcome. Because of this it is clear to see the importance and relevance of women in Antigone and Julius Caesar. In both Antigone and Julius Caesar the societal views that women are weak, submissive and inferior play a major role in each story and their conclusions. In Antigone, King Creon is shocked when he discovers that it is Antigone that disobeys him. The betrayer was right under his nose, but he was too blind to see it. King Creon was blinded by the belief that women are inferior. Likewise, in Julius Caesar, women are considered inferior. When Portia, Brutus wife, wants Brutus to trust her she has to prove herself strong by stabbing herself. It is the societal view of women that makes her have to prove herself. Another major example of this is when the threat of being considered weak by his peers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beverly Daniel Tatum, an author of several books including Why Are Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria asks, How did academic achievement become defined as exclusively white behavior? Tatum has an interesting point, however stereotyping is not just about race it can be about gender bias, or body issues too. Ann DuCille, author of From Multicultural Barbie and the Merchandising of Difference says; Barbie s body is a consumer object itself a vehicle for display of clothing and spectacular trappings of a wealthy teenage fantasy life . Ducille gives a good example of body politics, and the importance of not only focusing on race. Thus, is a good example of how stereotypes are learned by how one is treated in school or at home. Education about racial identity, gender equality, and body shaming, to an extent, will help eliminate some forms of stereotyping and create a more understanding and equal society. Therefore schools are not the problem, stereotypes, however racist, sexist, or just plain mean, are learned at home and in schools from peers, parents and teachers alike. On the flipside however there are those who think they can park there to get a quick item from Starbucks and get out without getting a fine. This has also happened before, some people just park wherever they please, breaking laws and leaving before they get in trouble being what we call a scofflaw. Social Marketing Of the hundreds of named brand clothing that form part of the retail and fashion industry I chose to compare, for my analysis, Abercrombie Fitch, Forever 21, American Eagle, and H M. These stores are prominent, well known for selling apparel, shoes, and accessories by the means of offering sales and promotions to their customers. This is a clever strategy for attracting customers, allowing them to believe that they bought goods at affordable, convenient prices and not to mention the prestigious name prescribed to the clothing brands. Using keyhole.co as my main source, I obtained relevant and valuable information regarding the status of these brands. My intentions were to compare a period of 14 days, however, due to the limited access that I received from my free trial, the program only allowed me to see fewer of the dates than I anticipated. I want to take this opportunity and mention ahead of time that due to the various and distinctive products that are sold from these stores, when looking for the spending capacity I decided to focus on shirts/ jeans for men and women and compare the prices among them since each of these retailers carry those items and as a way to make this report easier to contrast and comprehend. Also, when approaching the section of setting , I screen shotted some of the images on Instagram and made them into a collage to separate the type of clothes and trends that each of these brands sell currently. • 43. Of The Vietnam War Burdens In Tim O Brien s The Things... Forty two years after the Fall of Saigon, the Vietnam War remains an affliction for Vietnam War Veterans and their families. Millions of our youth were forced to leave their home and carry inconceivable burdens. Thus, as a Vietnam War Veteran, Tim O Brien can depict thoroughly our Veterans burdens in The Things They Carried . His story brings us to First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross and his platoon in war torn Vietnam. Cross is the commanding officer; however, he does not concentrate on the war but on his unrequited love. As a result, a Viet Cong kills one of his subordinates, Ted Lavender. His death traumatizes the platoon, especially its commander. Furthermore, the narrator also depicts the burden of not only their equipment but also their psychological distress. In response to O Brien s short story, Steven Kaplan writes a criticism The undying uncertainty of the narrator in Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried. . In his criticism, Kaplan focuses on the uncertainty of the war. He argues that O Brien s ultimate purpose is to display the undying uncertainty of the Vietnam War (10). Despite his concrete and logical argument, he fails to address the significance of the soldiers physical and psychological burdens, which emphasizes the story s theme; therefore, his argument does not delineate the story entirely. Even though he does not describe the full theme, he uncloaks the general mood of the story. According to Kaplan, the only certain thing during the Vietnam War was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Currently, Medtronic offers three distinct health plans that are comparable with their employee s as well as industry competitors. However, there were several areas that I found concerning that is in regards to cost where the company is spending more money than they need to. Within this paper, I will be addressing some factors in areas such as where money could be saved so that they may be able to use this additional money in other areas for the company. Restrictions At the time, Medtronic made decisions what they thought would be good for the company as well as their employees. However, there are several areas of concern that could be redesigned to help accommodate cost as well as the company. One area that I saw right away that needs attention immediately was the redesign of the part time employee s hours. Currently, Medtronic considers part time as those who work 32 or less hours per week. Analysis Of Eileen Chang s Red Rose, White Rose When a man is longing to have sex with a woman, he becomes interested in her soul, and deceives himself that he is in love with that soul; only after possessing her body, he can forget about her soul. Perhaps this is the only way to liberate himself. This is a famous quote from the novel Red Rose, White Rose written by Eileen Chang, one of the most influential contemporary Chinese female writers. There is no doubt that some modern critics and feminists may point out that this idea of gender role is opposed to gender equality and balance of a relationship. • 47. Non Effective Followers And The Groups Of Followers,... The four groups of followers operated as alienated followers, sheep, yes people, and survivors, all lacking the key factor of being able to succeed without strong leadership. Sheep lack initiative and sense of responsibility, while yes people refuse to be against the leader (Wren 195). Alienated followers tend to think more independently but are prone to group think. They are normally dissatisfied and/or resentful. Any of these three groups can at any time merge into the survivor group because this group of followers operate under the slogan better safe than sorry (Wren 195).
