1) The general educator plays an important role in the IEP process by providing knowledge about the student's performance and interactions in the general education classroom, as well as details on the curriculum and classroom pace and environment. 2) An IEP meeting establishes the student's present levels of performance, identifies strengths and needs, prioritizes goals based on bridging gaps in learning, and determines necessary supports for the student to learn. 3) IEP meetings include initial/eligibility meetings, annual meetings, triennial meetings, and special amendments meetings. General and special educators are required attendees to discuss progress towards goals and revise the IEP as needed.
