Essay on Globalization Is Good
Globalization is the word used to describe the growing interdependence of the world’s economies, cultures, and populations, brought about by cross-border trade in goods and services, technology, and flows of investment, people, and information. Countries have built economic partnerships to facilitate these movements over many centuries. But the term gained popularity after the Cold War in the early 1990s, as these cooperative arrangements shaped modern everyday life.
According to WHO, globalization can be defined as ” the increased interconnectedness and interdependence of peoples and countries. It is generally understood to include two inter-related elements: the opening of international borders to increasingly fast flows of goods, services, finance, people and ideas; and the changes in institutions and policies at national and international levels that facilitate or promote such flows.”
What Is Globalization in Geography?
In geography, globalization is defined as the set of processes (economic, social, cultural, technological, institutional) that contribute to the relationship between societies and individuals around the world. It is a progressive process by which exchanges and flows between different parts of the world are intensified.
Globalization is deeply connected with economic systems and markets, which, on their turn, impact and are impacted by social issues, cultural factors that are hard to overcome, regional specificities, timings of action and collaborative networks. All of this requires, on one hand, global consensus and cooperation, and on the other, country-specific solutions, apart from a good definition of the adjective “just”.

ABSTRACT. Today we live in so-called “era of globalization.” More we talk about
it, more concerned we become, but nevertheless, there is no universal definition
assigned to this accepted phenomenon. This is due, perhaps, to the fact that global-
ization comprises an extensive range of complex processes occurring in different
areas of contemporary society. Specifically, globalization is the term currently used
to describe those changes recorded in companies of world’s economy, changes
arising from the large increase of international trade and exchanges taking place.
However, globalization displays increasing trade and investment following the dis-
appearance barriers and the interdependence between states. As a result of this
globalization, the world in critical areas has turned into a unique social system,
precisely through the development of those ties of interdependence between states,
which each of us affects us. Referring to globalization is often used in economic
and, almost exclusively, is considering trade, free trade and labor market liberal-
ization. It is true that globalization is achieved by a real link between multi-national
states on plans not only the economic, which include communication and exchange

mastery of information is increasingly needed in the competition taking place to rule
territories and possession and exploitation of raw materials and labor. But, we ask
how real is the information we receive and how much it helps us evolve culturally
and spiritually, if we really helps each one of us who are witnessing and without
right of choice involved in this process of globalization, the globalization of society
in which we live? The study presents the views of the author on the effects of
globalization on men and women development as being endowed with intellect,
views that give a negative answer to the question above mentioned, according to
which, as a result of globalization, humans get to live only for the production and
consumption in a state of constant manipulation by those who hold real information,

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. 1. What is the difference between Globalization and Globalism?
It is indeed noticeable that globalization has significantly impacted our daily lives, as it ameliorates
the standard quality of life and drives us to change our lifestyles to experience convenience. As
globalization may be occurring for a long time, it may have detrimental and beneficial factors that
can affect us in particular circumstances. Meanwhile, people are often confused about
differentiating globalism and globalization. As both terminologies are likely identical, they are
reasonably distinctive by their attributes. Several scholars who engaged in expounding the scope of
these terms may have either supporting or contrary points of view that are rigorously backed up by
empirical observations.
According to Steger (2012), globalism is a ubiquitous term often used imprecisely to describe
general globalizing trends and particular systems of ideas and values connected to various
globalization processes. He further adds that there are three major variants of globalism: market,
justice, and religious. Market globalism advocates a consumerist, neoliberal, and free-market world.
Justice globalism envisages a global civil society with fairer relationships and environmental
safeguards, while religious globalism strives for a global religious community with superiority over
secular structures. Likewise, Nye (2002) stated that globalism seeks to describe and explain nothing
more than a world characterized by networks of connections that span multi-continental distances.
Globalism seeks to apprehend worldwide inter-connections and to accentuate patterns that embody
them. Consequently, it led humanity to perceive that information, products, services, investments,
and people should be explicitly permitted to traverse national borders to implement international
trading activities. Moreover, various forms of globalism are the foregrounds of the globalization
function. Through this, it propels to shape and mold an interrelated world. Nevertheless, the idea of
globalism may theoretically promote social inequality, empower environmental destruction, increase
global conflicts and violence, weaken participatory forms of democracy, and extend the
marginalization gap among developing and impoverished countries as wealthy nations rampantly
exploit them.
On the other hand, McGrew (1990) stipulated that globalization is composed of multiple sameness
and interconnectedness that go beyond nation states where individuals and organizations in one
part of the world are affected by the activities, affairs, and convictions in another part of the globe.
Meanwhile, Ritzer (2010) defined globalization as a transplanetary process involving increasing
liquidity and the growing multi-directional flows of people, objects, places, and information, as well
as the structures they encounter and create that are barriers to, or expedite, those flows. Similarly,
Steger (2012) identified it as a multidimensional set of social processes that extend and intensify
social connections across the globe. Giddens (1990) also emphasized globalizing processes,
including methods of capitalism, the interstate system, militarism, and industrialism.
Globalization is an ongoing comprehensive system that fosters association among societies and
individuals across the world. Despite geographical hindrances, globalization entitles everyone to
have a sense of international affiliation. Furthermore, it involves massive interaction that may
strengthen one's nation-building and international affairs. In addition, globalization depicts the vast
phenomenon of delivering and acquiring economic, environmental, social, cultural, military, political,
technological, and institutional integration to consolidate linkage between participating countries.
However, globalization can have negative consequences when a certain crisis prevails on the other
side of the world. Just like the "domino effect," polities may be widely influenced by an
intercontinental catastrophe without exception.
In general, globalism is a political ideology that serves as an initial basis behind globalization. The
philosophy of globalism enables globalization to adopt distinguished norms, values, and meanings
within its operations. Without the emergence of globalism principles, globalization may not be
currently ordained. We would also probably not gain global consciousness and awareness at all. As
a matter of fact, countries may be isolated from each other, which may obstruct the possibility of
2. manifesting the essence of interdependence. Additionally, being part of the globalization process
may allow economic, political, or cultural opportunities that can eventually bring advantages and
disadvantages to us.
As we live in a contemporary world, globalization has been visible throughout the years. Given that
this phenomenon continually exists, it has been pivotal in founding progressive civilization. It plays a
crucial part in establishing global networks and trends among us through importing and exporting
commodities, as well as fortifying political and social relationships with other countries. But, we must
anticipate that globalism and globalization have consistent uncertainties as time passes. Let us also
not agitate that globalism and globalization may lead to homogeneity. Instead, let us discern it as a
way of bolstering global camaraderie regardless of being diverse.
