This document provides information about traditional games played by Lithuanian children. It describes games that involve large groups like "Limping Roll" where one player tries to tag others while hopping on one foot. Other games include "Baking a Pot" where children race around chairs to grab an open seat, and "Storks" where children run between twigs representing nests while avoiding a catcher. The document teaches the rules to these traditional group games as well as more modern games like a three-legged race using shared skies and a ring toss game to collect points represented by sticks in the ground.
Traditional games have been passed down from generation to generation. Some described include the pawn game where participants spin pawns on the ground, the sack race where players hold sacks and jump to a finish line, and the hoop game where older players can maneuver a hoop better than children. Other games include tug of war between teams pulling a rope, hitting a small object with a pole to launch it, a marbles game with holes to shoot into, and a bottle cap race along a track. These games help children's social and physical development.
The document describes several traditional games and activities played in different months. January's game is skittles, where players throw stones at stacked objects to knock them over and score points. February's game is a sack race where players run while their legs are in sacks.
