This study attempts to measure the financial performance of selected Bangladeshi commercial banks for the period 2010-2016 through using the DuPont model which is an important tool for measuring profitability and judging the financial performance of any financial entity. The modified DuPont model disaggregates ROE (which is an indication of the earning power of the firm) into five components: tax burden, interest burden, profit margin, total asset turnover, and equity multiplier ratios. Empirical results exhibit that Dhaka Bank has performed best in every aspect and secured the first position due to highest average ROE. On the other hand, AB Bank is the least performer among all the banks due to its lowest average ROE. Finally, this study suggests that a company can have high ROE if it has high operating margin, lower interest, lower income tax, efficient use of assets and high use of debt in its capital structure.
In this paper, we used financial statements as the main information to calculate the enterprise
value by discounted cash flow model. For the prediction of future cash flows in DCF model, a new method
based on the Markov chain is proposed to get the growth rates of future cash flows, instead of the fixed growth
rate method. The superior performance of it can be illustrated in empirical analysis. And the result shows that
we can improve the accuracy of the enterprise value evaluation with partial information by using the Markov

A du-pont analysis of automobile companiespriya1826dangi
Do-Pont is the method of measuring the performance which was started by DuPont Corporation in 1920’s. With this method, assets are measured at their gross book value rather than at net book value in order to produce a higher return on equity (ROE). It is also known as "DuPont identity".
DuPont analysis tells us that ROE is affected by three things:
- Operating efficiency, which is measured by profit margin
- Asset use efficiency, which is measured by total asset turnover
- Financial leverage, which is measured by the equity multiplier
The Du-Pont analysis also called the Du-Pont model is a financial ratio based on the return on equity ratio that is used to analyze a company's ability to increase its return on equity. In other words, this model breaks down the return on equity ratio to explain how companies can increase their return for investors.
The Du-Pont analysis looks at three main components of the ROE ratio.
• Profit Margin
• Total Asset Turnover
• Financial Leverage
Based on these three performances measures the model concludes that a company can raise its ROE by maintaining a high profit margin, increasing asset turnover, or leveraging assets more effectively
It is one of the strongest indicators for a financially successful company. ROE is a great tool for investors because it shows you what the return is on the portion of the company that belongs to equity. It is a simple calculation that quickly summarizes the ability of management to turn shareholder equity into profitable returns
There are two other indicators that would like to analyze in a company: profit margin and asset turnover. Ideally we would like to see a company with high numbers for both of these, but that’s not always possible. It is a must that the company has at least one of these performing better than the industry standard. If the asset turnover is low, then the profit margin better be high (a specialty producer with a competitive advantage). If the profit margin is low, then the asset turnover better be high (a low cost provider with large market share).
In this report there is comparison between Five automobile companies i.e. Tata motors, Mahindra and Mahindra ,Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, and Bajaj Auto through Do-Pont Model
The Du-Pont analysis is only the first step in analyzing the firm’s performance. The next step is to dig deeper into the differences between the firm’s performance and the benchmark against which it is being measured.
After analyzing these automobile companies I found that Hero MotoCorp maintaining highest ROE as per comparison of others automobile companies more effectively.
Additional analysis can include comparing additional financial ratios and common-size financial statements that facilitate comparisons between firms. Common-size financial statements express everything as a percentage of one financial statement parameter, such as sales on the income statement or total assets on the balance she

Effect of operating, financial and total leverage on expected stock return an...Shoaib Lalani
Regardless of the size and nature, largely all businesses are dependent on leverage. This research called for analyzing the impact of leverage on equity elements like the earnings to price ratio, Market value of equity and book to market ratio. Later on we also tested to identify the relationship between leverage and on expected stock returns. Financial data for different companies ranging in their own sectors was collected and then financial data from 2002 to 2012 was used to run pooled regression in order to find out any existing relationship
The results were pretty astonishing as it was proved that leverage had no impact on either of the equity elements. Nevertheless, a relationship could be identified between leverage and expected stock returns. Hence it will be safe to conclude that Pakistan’s economy is shortsighted and consumption oriented and that profits and earnings of companies in Pakistan are highly financed by their respective revenues. But nevertheless judgments about a particular sector couldn’t be made as this report has various business sectors of Pakistan.
Finance is the lifeblood and lifeline of any business entity either commercial or non-commercial. The
Survival, Stability and Sustainability of a firm is highly associated with its financial wellness. It can be observed through its ability to pay(re) short-term as well as long term liabilities, meeting the regular financial obligations, to increase the value of firm and ability to generate profit. Financial analysis, evaluation, and assessment help in determines the financial position and financial strength of a firm. Among the plenty of methods and tolls available for financial performance, ratio analysis is more useful and meaningful. These ratios make it possible to analyze the evolution of the financial situation of a firm (trend analysis), cross-sectional analysis and comparative analysis.

I. INTRODUCTION
Ratio analysis is such a significant technique for financial analysis. It indicates relation of two mathematical expressions and the relationship between two or more things. Financial ratio is a ratio of selected values on an enterprise's financial statement. There are many standard ratios used to evaluate the overall financial condition of a corporation or other organization. Financial ratios are used by managers within a firm, by current and potential stockholders of a firm, and by a firm‘s creditor. Financial analysts use financial ratios to compare the strengths and weaknesses in various companies. Essence of ratio analysis:Financial ratio analysis helps us to understand how profitable a business is, if it has enough money to pay debts and we can even tell whether its shareholders could be happy or not. Financial ratios allow for comparisons:
[1] between companies
[2] between industries
[3] between different time periods for one company
[4] between a single company and its industry average
To evaluate the performance of one firm, its current ratios will be compared with its past ratios. When financial ratios over a period of time are compared, it is called time series or trend analysis. It gives an indication of changes and reflects whether the firm‘s financial performance has improved or deteriorated or remained the same over that period of time. It is not the simply changes that has to be determined, but more importantly it must be recognized that why those ratios have changed. Because those changes might be result of changes in the accounting polices without material change in the firm‘s performances.Another method is to compare ratios of one firm with another firm in the same industry at the same point in time. This comparison is known as the cross sectional analysis. It might be more useful to select some competitors which have similar operations and compare their ratios with the firm‘s. This comparison shows the relative financial position and performance of the firm. Since it is so easy to find the financial statements of similar firms through publications or Medias this type of analysis can be performed so easily. To determine the financial condition and performance of a firm, its ratios may be compared with average ratios of the industry to which the firm belongs. This method is known as the industry analysis that helps to ascertain the financial standing and capability of the firm in the industry to which it belongs. Industry ratios are important standards in view of the fact that each industry has its own characteristics, which influence the financial and operating relationships. But there are certain practical difficulties for this method. First finding average ratios for the industries is such a headache and difficult. Second, industries include companies of weak and strong so the averages include them also. Sometimes spread may be so wide that the average may be little utility. Third, the average may be meaningless and the comparison not possible if the firms with in the same industry widely differ in their accounting policies and practices. However if it can be standardized and extremely strong and extremely weak firms be eliminated then the industry ratios will be very useful.
