While only 10% of the universe is visible from Earth, Hubble can observe much farther due to its location in space. It was launched in 1990 and named after astronomer Edwin Hubble. Early images from Hubble were disappointing due to a lens error, but a repair mission in 1993 corrected this. Hubble has had several upgrade and repair missions and continues to make new discoveries after over 25 years of operation.
