The future of online education
This document discusses John Distler's teaching philosophy and experience with online education. It focuses on creating online learning communities, transitioning faculty to online teaching, and using problem-based learning for teaching advanced physical assessment. Workplace learning
While you have all resources for learning at your disposal, when studying for an academic degree, the resources needed to upgrade your knowledge are seldom available. This presentation tries to highlight the workplace learning in the present context and technology choices. Older, formal, pyramidal learning structures are giving way to more fluid, more agile and more collaborative approaches. The skills of the teacher or trainer are more about engagement and storytelling: the skills of the learner more about social capital to be effective in community, collaborative learning spaces and the ability to learn and learn again over time. It’s a more continuous process of change: less about learning in abstract classrooms and then going back to work. Learning is ongoing.
Scaffolding learning and maximising engagement out of class
Since 1956, Bloom’s taxonomy has been a foundational concept for learning and teaching. Yet most of us today associate Bloom’s taxonomy with the sometimes tedious task of writing learning outcomes.
In this presentation, Dr Lincoln Gomes and Anselm Paul demonstrate the usefulness of Bloom’s taxonomy. Together, they demonstrate how Bloom’s taxonomy can be used to design lessons that will engage your learners. They also show how Bloom’s taxonomy can be used to make sense of ‘flipped’ learning.

these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
