The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.

3. He made Josh work in his farm till late hours.
Josh could not leave the farm without his master’s
permission.
Josh was sixteen year old.
He used to work in Mr. Leckler’s
farm.
Mr. Leckler did not pay any
money for the work Josh did for
him. He gave him food, shelter
and some used clothes.
4. Mr. Leckler’s wife, used to run a school for the children,
whose parents were working in the farm.
She believed that every child should have an access to
some basic education.
She used to feel sad about the way her husband
treated Josh.
She wanted to secretly educate him. But before this,
she wanted to know what Josh wanted…
5. Josh agreed…
One day she called him
and said, “Josh I don’t like
the way you are treated. I
want you to stand up for
yourself as a free man. I
feel it can only happen
when you study. I want to
teach you, but only if you
agree.”
6. After talking to Josh, Mrs. Leckler decided to start teach
him on weekends…
For her and for Josh, those few hours were a ray of
hope…
7. Six months later Josh started writing small
sentences and did simple calculations. He was very
happy with this new found life.
But he never forgot that his master stood like a wall
between him and his freedom.
She started teaching Josh.
It was difficult for him to
understand what she
taught.
Weeks passed by…
8. Before Christmas, Mrs. Leckler came to know that some
boys of the town were going to neighbouring city in the
weekend.
She asked Josh to go with them forever and make a
beautiful life for himself…
Josh thought about it and said ‘YES’…
9. For Josh it was time to embrace freedom
and say good bye to Mrs. Leckler - his
mentor; whom he could never forget…
Friday arrived…
10. Next day morning, Mr. Leckler did not find Josh there.
He realized that Josh had run away.
It made him very angry…
11. He rushed to the station and asked the station master if
he had seen a boy get on any train.
"Yes. Last night” the station master said.
"But why did you let him go when he did not have his
signature on the pass?” cried Mr. Leckler in anger.
“No. You are mistaken." said the stationmaster. “The
lad did have a pass signed Josh "
