Lucinda recounts how she went from being an only child to having a brother. At first, she wasn't sure about having a stranger in her house and life. However, she soon realized it was fun to have someone to do activities with like painting. She told her parents she wanted her brother, Jude, to stay. Lucinda concludes that many years later, she is glad to have a brother and wouldn't want life any other way.

I once was an only but happy child. I did
everything by myself.

7. I was wondering, ‘was he my
brother?’ He looked like me!

8. Any way I’ll tell
you what he did
that interfered
in my life. Every
time I tried to
get a photo
taken of just me,
he tried to get in
the shot.

9. Whenever I ate something, he ate
something and it was a bit odd.

10. I’ll tell you something else odd whenever I Whenever I had a bath, he had to have it with
dressed up as a princess he dressed up as me. I guess he was kind of cute baby.

11. A couple of days later we were painting together and that got me
thinking how much I actually like this little fella. It was fun to have
someone else to do stuff with so I wasn’t always on my own.

12. I told mum and dad that I think that this guy should
stick around because he’s fun and I love him. Then they
said two things: first of all they said that “this guy has a
name and his name is Jude.” And the second thing is
“that he is your brother and he has to stay” – But you
did know this though right!?

13. And of course I did know all of this but I was
just checking to make sure.
After that we were best buds and 1,000
years later I was glad that I had a brother
and I wouldn’t want life to be any other
way.
