The Invention Of The Ford Motor Company

Automobiles and Technology in the Prosperous 1920s.
During the 1920s the nation prospered under wealth and happiness, something never attainable during
or before the wartime. A large increase in income for Americans meant that they were able to afford
more appliances like a toaster or a car. Prices dropped with industrial innovations like the moving
assembly line. With these new prices, people could buy more per dollar. Henry Ford s, The Ford
Motor Company is an example of a business that prospered in the 1920s. The innovation of Ford s
Model T allowed many Americans to explore the country and experience being on the road. Along
with these new products and appliances, businesses made a new form of payment, credit, which
allowed people to pay less up front to use the money they save for other things like food. The 1920s
were known as a time of prosperity and inventions and technology such as the automobile helped
improve American lives for the better.
Businesses prospered when their products were sold at reasonable margins and due to mass
consumerism, they made quick profits. Especially in the 1920s as the national average income rose,
more people bought more things. Corporate elites built a new more consumer oriented, business
philosophy (Scott). This philosophy included the option to buy on a plan called credit. Shoppers now
have credit in the form of installment payment plans (Scott). Having to

The Causes And Effects Of Air Pollution In China
In the past decade, the severe air pollution problem in fast developing countries, particularly in China,
has caused highly social and scientific attention. In 2014, 92 % of the world population are exposed
over to the WHO Air Quality Guidelines (AQG) PM2.5 concentration level of 10 μg/m3 (World
Health Organization, 2016). Ambient particulate matter (PM) pollution ranked as the third leading risk
factor in India and Nepal, and ranked as the fifth in China (GBD 2015 Risk Factors Collaborators,
2016). In 2012, about 3 million deaths globally were attributed solely to ambient air pollution, and
around 87% of it occurred in low and middle income countries (World Health Organization, 2016).
Whilst strong positive trend in PM concentrations are generally attributed to anthropogenic emissions
and natural biogenic emissions, it is also affected by the physical meteorology and climate (Guo et al.,
2014; Kirtman, B. et al., 2013; Wang et al., 2014; Zhang et al., 2016). Climate in China is largely
modulated by the East Asian Monsoon and climate teleconnections with the Niño Southern Oscillation
and the Arctic, therefore air quality in China is affected by the variations and change in these climate
systems (Cheng et al., 2016; H. Wang et al., 2015; Zhu et al., 2012; Zou et al., 2017).
In the last two decades, climate science has achieved great development, but climate information is
not currently effectively used by decision makers and stakeholders (Miles et al., 2006). A gap exists

operation, the plant was closed due to experiencing labour management conflict. Soon after the
shutdown, GM and Toyota vehicles cooperated to reopen the plant called New United Manufacturing,

industry. In order for NUMMI to succeed, different management methods were applied, especially
various strategies which motivated the employees. This essay will attempt to define motivation,
analyse its theories, discuss the motivation lessons from the practices of NUMMI case study and then
some recommendations will be given. DEFINITION Motivation is defined as a psychological force
that stimulates a person to act toward the desired objectives and maintain goal oriented behaviour to
achieve a specific goal (Helen 2013). In the workplace, motivation is one of the most significant
factors determining the effectiveness and efficiency. Motivation is positively related to employees
willingness in performing their job duties which can significantly affect the business growth. Thus, the
more motivated the workers are, the more successful the organisation will be (Stanley 2015).

Informative Essay On Rock And Roll
Question 1: Rock and Roll was originated in Cleveland during the early 1950s, and it s popularity rose
due to many changes in the United States. One of the reasons why Rock and roll became such a big hit
was because of the promoter, Alan Freed. He broadcasted R B records on his station in Cleveland. And
ever since he marketed Rock and Roll, there were more rock and roll concerts organized in Cleveland.
He was able to introduce thousands of white teens to African American music. Rock and Roll was the
combination of shuffle and straight feels since it is the combination of country music, and rhythm and
blues. Not only rock and roll has the power to influence people but also it helps to set the trend among

It became a huge hit among teenage girls when they saw this handsome white rock and roll artist

NPR podcast of Carl Perkins: Rockabilly Pioneer , the way Elvis Presley sang Blue Suede Shoes had a
full Rock and Roll vibe to it. It was fast, strong, and rarely had breaks in between. His toughness and
energy was far different from Perkin s original even though, it didn t replace the original song. Carl
Perkins also benefitted from this song because of his talent in songwriting. Rock and Roll was more
than just a genre of music. It was a cultural revolution through many decades and till this day. In the
1950s, because of the generation gap, adults were not able to accept this new style of music, and

Summary Of The Beet Queen By Louise Erdrich
The Beet Queen by Louise Erdrich is a story based on the time that the dust bowl was happening in
the year of 1932 which was the year where 14 dust storms were recorded. In the first chapter called
The Branch we have an introduction of the characters. In the first chapter Erdrich uses a
compassionate tone as well as being very descriptive all through the chapter. These two things made
the reader be able to picture everything in their head as they read the passage causing them to have a
better image of what was going on in that chapter. Erdrich uses a compassionate tone all throughout
this chapter. Knowing that the story is based in the time of the great depression and the dust bowl we

When describing Karl and his younger sister Mary she put in a lot of effort, adding in words one hasn
t read as a way to describe someone. The boy was a tall fourteen, hunched with his sudden growth and
very pale. His mouth was sweetly curved, his skin fine and girlish. His sister was only eleven years
old, but already she was so short and ordinary that it was obvious she would be this way all her life.
Her name was square and practical as the rest of her. Mary. (13 19). With his type of description the
reader can clearly picture both of the kids knowing how different they are from one another. Erdrich
uses the word sweetly to describe the curve that karl s lips had, something that is unusual to find in a
description of a person. In the opposite direction Mary is described as being an ordinary girl. His
cheeks went pink, he stretched his arms out like a sleepwalker, and in one long transfixed motion he
floated to the tree and buried his face in the white petals. (46 49). In this sentence, which describes the
way Karl was hypnotized by the tree, Erdrich describes Karl behaving like a sleepwalker something
we could clearly picture in our heads. We can see how Karl fell in love with the tree by the way that
scene was described, in many cartoon one has seen these things happen to a character when they fall

The two unknown people start up this chapter, one talking about how he would isolate Ender at the
school so he wouldn t lose him. Right away, Ender feels separated from the rest of the boys at the
Battle School, since he doesn t feel like speaking to the other boys as they laugh and joke around. He
imagined himself starring in an interview as the spokesman for the rest of the boys. He wanted to say
how much he missed Valentine, not knowing about the censorship. Ener played with the gravity

Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna
Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna was born in Jalapa, Veracruz Mexico, on February 21, 1794. He
belongs to a criollo middle class family. His parents were from Spain. He was a Mexican politician
and military leader who was President of Mexico eleven times from 1833 to 1855. He was president
officially six times, and unofficially five more. He was also a disastrous president of Mexico because
he lost Texas and much more of the current American west in the United States. However, by far he
was an important figure of his generation in the Mexican history. Many people love him during his
first years of president, and he was remembered for two major conflicts, the Battle of the Alamo in
1836 during the Texas Revolution, and as a restored Mexican leader during the Mexican American
War in 1847 (tshaonline.org).
The prestige of Santa Anna in 1829 helped him to gain the presidency in 1833. In 1829 he fought
against Spain s attempt to conquer Mexico, and after his victory everyone looked at him as a good
leader. His victory from Spain makes him immediately turn over power. At that time the vice president
was Valentín Gómez Farías, and allowed him to make some reforms, including many that aimed at the
Catholic Church and the army. Because the people of Mexico do not accept his reforms, Santa Anna
stepped in and removed Gómez Farías from power, and consequently he gained the presidency in
1833 as a Federalist and opponent of Roman Catholic Church. He was in power from 1833 to 1836

Retraction Controversy Of Rizal
Rizal s Retraction Controversy
As of today, there is still an ongoing dispute regarding the controversy of Rizal s retraction before his
execution on the 30th of December, 1896. Other people insist that Rizal did retract while some says
that he did not. There are different evidences that appeared to defend each side. There were four well
known reasons behind Rizal s retraction. First, He wanted to marry Josephine Bracken and to make
her his wife legally. Second, He wanted to protect his family. Third, He wanted to reforms from the
Spanish Government. Lastly, He wanted to heal the sickness of the Catholic Church. All theories came

In Father Balaguer s statement, he said that Rizal retracted because he wanted to marry Josephine
Bracken, who was a Catholic, but when he was asked to show a certificate, he was not able to present
anything. It was impossible for the marriage to be the reason of retraction because there was no
marriage certificate found. There was no certificate that legalizes the marriage between Josephine
Bracken and Jose Rizal.
Rizal was not buried with a good standing. Rizal s body was buried ten months after his death. He was
also buried without a coffin in a cemetery for Anti Catholic Church. He should have been buried
properly if ever he was converted back to the Catholicism.
In my opinion, Rizal did not retract before his execution. After reading some of the articles, I was
convinced that he did not retract. If he retracted before his execution, then why was he not buried
properly? He was buried in the place for those who are against the Catholic Church. He did not even
get a proper burial. If he died as a catholic, they should have given him the burial that deserves. Why
would he marry Josephine Bracken if he was to die? It was said earlier that the retraction was made
for Rizal to be able to marry the love of his life, which is Josephine Bracken, then why was there no
marriage certificate presented. Besides, why would he even bother to marry Josephine Bracken if he

Psychoanalysis Perspective Kate Chopin
Psychoanalysis is a form of therapy which aims to cure mental disorders by investigating the

of personality and motivation of what makes people do what they do. It is also a type of therapy.

Reservation System
The drafters of the Indian constitution visualized that a major chunk of population, because of living
in remote areas, might remain devoid of benefits that would be available to other citizens of free India.
To neutralize this handicap they introduced reservations in education and

remote locations. And they believed that in due course of time the backward classes would be propped
up to a level that equals the others.
Some strange reawakening prompted the Janta Party government under Bharat Ratna Morarji
Desai to enlarge the span of reservations. Mandal commission was established in India in 1979 with a
mandate to identify the socially or educationally backward, based on additional parameters. The
commission brought in 11 socio economic and educational indicators to determine backwardness and
introduced the term Other Backward Classes (OBC) , as a yet another class distinction in the country.

Southern Colonies Characteristics
Southern Colonies Attributes Report
This paper is about the different characteristics of the Southern colonies for use in the plausible war.
Based upon the areas of geography and climate, resources, and political and social life, the southern
colonies will prove to be an asset to England in a possible war with France.
The geography of the southern colonies consists of deep wide rivers, the Atlantic coastal plain, and
good harbors. These will all be positive attributes due to the rivers and harbors can be used for
transportation and the Atlantic coastal plain is easy to travel on. The climate however, can be
challenging at some points. The summers are very hot and humid which could be difficult to function
in. But the winters are very mild and would be much better. Overall the geography and climate seem
fall in the middle. The geography is an asset but the climate may be an obstacle.

good because since cotton and tobacco are both cash crops we can ... Show more content on

Analysis Of Bruce Bairnsfather s One Of Those Balkan Muddles
Bruce Bairnsfather s cartoon, One of Those Balkan Muddles, depicts a dejected soldier who is
profoundly confused about his nationality and identity. The man does not seem to possess a clear
ethnicity or home country, thus neither does he possess a true citizenship. He is not specifically tied to
any one people, geographical area, or culture. This caricature reflects a comedized reality for many
people living within the borders of the Austro Hungarian Empire during and prior to World War One.
The Empire was a confusing, heterogeneous mixture of several ethnicities forced into a single
citizenship and state. As a real life example, the imperial census of the Austro Hungarian Empire in
1910 caused problems when it asked subjects to state their identity. The official criterion was the
language spoken, yet controversy raged when other officials argued for history, geography,
anthropology and ethnography as the key criteria. Divisively, Emperor Franz Joseph, at the head of a
dynasty which was supposed to be supra national, put himself down firmly as German on the census
form . Bairnsfather s cartoon soldier is the personification of Empire s lack of clear collective identity,
and thus lack of true citizenship. This issue will eventually lead to the dissolution of the Empire into
several constituent states.
The epoch that the cartoon was drawn in was defined by the emergence of a central force in
geopolitics: The nation state. The force of nationalism, neither benevolent

There are moments in life that hold you to a higher standard. Amid the practiced perfection with

internal medicine began in its consistent need for adaptability. Just as the change in one note can alter
the tone of a musical piece, similarly, one pertinent piece of information can shift the diagnosis
entirely and it is through the interpretation of these subtle clues that my interest in the diagnostic

In The Darjeeling Limited the director shows the audience the culture shock the characters are going
through by changing the volume of the music. When the film starts a prologue can be heard that

The song has an Indian tune and playing it tells the audience that they should expect an Indian setting

A Bond as Powerful as Certainty A person s doubts can cloud their judgment on certain tasks at hand.
On the other hand, a person s certainty can blind someone from the truth. The argument ofDoubt
versus Certainty is relevant today in the sense that it is the main argument for and against religion. The
theory of doubt can also be used in literary works for a number of reasons. In John Patrick Shanley s

Sister Aloysius does not have any evidence yet she is certain that Father Flynn is guilty. Shanley is
illustrating that one does not need evidence to be confident about a given claim. In this way, Shanley
illustrates through the concept of doubt that a person can be right about a given suspicion without any
proof.
The significance behind certainty versus doubt in Doubt has to do with the characterization of both
Sister James and Sister Aloysius. The characters stance on certainty versus doubt divides the
characters personalities. Sister Aloysius has a confident and strong willed character throughout the
story while Sister James is shown to have a very insecure personality and is usually shown to be
unclear about situations. This characterization is shown when Sister James and Sister Aloysius talk
about William London s bloody nose. Sister Aloysius is convinced that William London s bloody nose
was self induced while Sister James believes that William is innocent. Sister Aloysius suspicion about
William is proven to be right when William is heading home, He has a bloody handkerchief to his

is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or

one. Through education and life experiences, my perception of health has evolved and will continue to

Exome sequencing is one example of NGS that is useful when the identity of the specific genes
involved in the disease has not yet been identified. The technique, which entails sequencing only the
1% of the genome that is exons and thus codes for proteins, is less costly than whole genome
sequencing and is increasingly being used for the diagnosis of rare inherited disorders. A 2013 study
on MHS using exome sequencing was able to identify over 100 RYR1 and CACNA1S variants in an
asymptomatic population, reclassify several previously classified pathogenic variants as likely non
pathogenic due to high prevalence, as well as alert several individuals with a high likelihood of MHS
based on known pathogenic mutations7. The major use of large scale exome sequencing efforts in
MHS is that they will allow researchers to identify the pathogenicity of variants identified in RYR1
and CACNA1S genes. In addition, the technique can be used in combination with functional studies to
identify new mutations in families for whom traditional methods have not identified a mutation. A
limitation of this technology, however, is that many variants of unknown significance (VUS) are
frequently identified, making interpretation and large scale clinical application of the results

The High Priority For School Districts
Response to Changes
Elementary Level Changes occurred in other areas rather than just writing. In elementary schools,
teaching phonics has become extremely important. Phonics is important for students in learning
vocabulary and how to read. Additionally, elementary reading requirements have become more
vigorous. Elementary curriculums are changing drastically to help students prepare for the new
Common Core requirements. Many teachers are going through tons of hours of training and doing a
lot of extra work to learn new reading curriculums. The new elementary trainings are costing school
districts heaps of money and costing teachers voluminous hours of time, making many teachers
disgruntled and frustrated with the change. However, these changes are important for teaching the
Common Core, which is why spending money on improving curriculums and educating teachers has
become a high priority for school districts.
Secondary Level In secondary education, the Common Core is expecting reading, writing, speaking,
and listening to be taught in a variety of subject areas, not just ELA. Students should be reading an
assortment of texts and writing and speaking about the texts in social studies, science, and technical
subjects as well. Having class discussions and using writing to share ideas are simple ways to teach
about nonfiction and informational texts in any subject area. By exposing students to a variety of
nonfiction pieces in different subjects, it is broadening their

Nuremberg Trial In Criminal Justice
The history of international trials is largely limited to the Nuremberg Tribunals and the International
Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. However, these limited historical precedents, with an
imperfect body of jurisprudence from which to draw, afford one objective: the search for justice. This
justice, however, is victim to the political will that drives trials (Goldstone, quoted in Historical
Evolution From Nuremberg to the International Criminal Court ). Thus, although justice is usually the
preeminent focus for a post conflict society, it is also the most difficult to attain (Hayner, 8). From a

Angels And Insects Essay
A great Neo Victorian concern was to deconstruct the ideals and myths of the Victorian society and
belief, as they were foolishly enslaved by their own jaundice. The Victorians have made a sidewall to
inner and sometimes outer world, becoming mediocre in thinking and acting.
The aim of this essay consists in illustrating various aspects that were taken over from Victorians and
ingeniously rearranged by A.S. Byatt in her first short novel from Angels and Insects aspects regarding
the multitude of perspectives when it comes to analyzing the characters.
On the one hand, it was quite unusual for a man who lived in the Victorian era to be so sensitive to
female s feelings, to offer her his unconditionally love and compassion, and to be so open minded that
he is seen as a poor fish by narrow minded people. The model of gentleman is, thus, brought back to

the pursuit for high quality, low cost and rapid delivery of products. The theory of 5S is simple and

Differentiating Between Market Structures
A market structure in economics describes the state of a market with respect to its competition. There
exist several different market structures like perfect competition, oligopoly, and monopolies among
others. These markets all produce different types of goods or services, like public and private goods as
well as common and collective goods. Firms operating in these different market structures utilize the
labor market in very different ways because of very diverse uses of labor in each market structure, so
it is important for a firm to use the labor market equilibrium principles to their advantage ... Show

Different companies operate under different business models and one can see that under some market
forms, firms have no control over price, in others they have the power to adjust price in a way that
adds to its profits. There are different market structures with perfect competition at one end and pure
monopoly at the other. In between are different forms called monopolistic competition and oligopoly
that share some of the characteristics of both perfect competition and a monopoly competitive
structure (Colander, 2013, Chapter 13). Perfect competition exists when products are homogeneous,
and there are many firms too small to have any influence on the market price. These types of
businesses can easily enter and exit the industry. A situation where even one producer can affect the
price of a good by increasing or withholding output is called imperfect competition. Monopolistic
competition exists when many producers of slightly differentiated products are able to sell them at
well above their marginal cost. The core of the argument for competition is that as long as competition
exists in markets no one producer or group of producers can afford to abuse power by charging too
much or by selling bogus goods for fear that consumers might turn away from them to buy from other
producers. In line with that argument one of the government s tasks is to keep competition alive and
functioning. A

Examples Of Masculinity In Hip Hop
Secondly, gender is the key elements of cultural formation of hip hop. When focusing on this aspect,
there are obvious influences from African American hip hop to Asian hip hop. The fashion of the
black people, so called street fashion presents the connotative bad image of black people, such as drag
and violence. Therefore, it can be presumed that these fashion establishes the symbol of bad authority
or manliness to Asian rapper. Therefore, in the most of the music video of Asian hip hop, the rappers
wear caps, oversize t shirt, and gold accessories, like African American rappers do.
On the other hand, the different way to describe their manhood can be seen in the music videos. The
concept of masculinity in the original hip hop which

Nathaniel Bacon s Rebellion Of The American Revolution
Nathaniel Bacon is one of the few rebellious people whose name has been taught from school to
school in America. Why is that? , you may ask, why him? Why is his rebellion significant in American
history? . Bacon s rebellion used to be seen as the start of the American Revolution, but now, modern
historians have uncovered the truth of the Virginian Rebellion of 1676. Historians have found out that
the real issue that caused Nathaniel Bacon s rebellion was his stubbornness and selfishness. People
may specifically point fingers to a number of reasons for Bacon s rebellion, they may include the
following: economic problems, commercial competition from Maryland and Carolina, a restricted
English market, and the rising prices from English ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The situation became a crisis when, the colonists decided to fight back and made the grave mistake of
attacking the wrong Indians, which caused many more Native American attacks to take place. To
prevent future attacks, Governor Berkeley ordered an investigation into the issue. He set up what was
to be a disaster of a meeting between the Indians and himself, which resulted in the murders of several
tribal chiefs. Berkeley tried to be rational with Nathaniel Bacon and the other rebels. However, Bacon
ignored the governor and continued his terrible actions against the Native Americans. Then Berkeley
approached Bacon and told him how disappointed he was in him, which caused the Virginians to
wonder who was right. The governor, Berkeley, attempted to find a compromise. His goal was to
maintain the friendship and loyalty that he had with the Indians. To make sure that they had loyalty
between themselves Berkeley called the Long Assembly in March 1676. Despite being thought to be
corrupt, the assembly declared war on all bad Indians and set up a strong defensive zone around
Virginia. The Long Assembly was accused to being corrupt because they traded with the Indians. Most
of the traders were friends of the governor Berkeley The Indian wars, which came from this made
people pay high taxes to pay the army and to get revenge on the colonists for being a cause of the

Arguments Against Wind Energy
For many, the mention of wind energy conjures images of giant white turbines, their blades slowly
rotating, stretching off into the distance with no end in sight. This is how it has been portrayed in
pictures, but this is not how wind energy truly looks. Photographs in books and magazines imply that
wind energy would require these never ending fields. On the contrary, smaller fields where a limited
amount of turbines create all the power needed and more for a city that is nearby, or smaller individual
turbines creating enough energy for a home or neighborhood without being obtrusive, is how wind
energy truly looks. Wind energy harnesses the power of the wind and converts it to other forms of
energy, one of the main known forms being electricity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument behind this logic being that nuclear power can be produced all the time and does not
rely on variabilities of the wind. They would also assert that wind turbines produce at a level of only
twenty percent of their assessed potential (Canadian Nuclear Association, 2015). However these
arguments are taking a short sighted view in order to advance their claims. There are numerous studies
underway to increase the storage capacity and find new ways of storing energy derived from wind
technology. New technologies are being developed, and some already have been deployed, that
address storage capacity. These include wind turbines that include their own built in storage (Trabish,
H. K., 2013) and increasing the charge that storage materials are able to hold (Narayanan, Yamada,
Karakaya, Podila, Rao Bandaru, 2015), to name a couple. Additionally, the production estimates are
much greater than these arguments would claim, as will be addressed further. Add to this that wind
energy does not pose the same environmental threats in the form of catastrophic failures, as have been
seen in other parts of the world, or face the hazards of mining operations and long term storage and
disposal of radioactive waste (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) and it is clear that the
perceived benefits of nuclear energy are not easily proven to be greater than those of wind

People Who Influence Learning The Most Essay
The People in a Child s Life who Influence Learning the Most The human brain is most vulnerable to
change throughout the early years of a person s life due to its development. The people that enter a
child s life can alter their attitude and their effort later on. Most importantly, the skills that they are
taught can stick with them until the day they die. Most people in a child s life affect them in some
miniscule way and although children never realize it, some people are more crucial to their success
than others. Children engage in relationships with their parents, their peers and friends, their teachers,
and they take part in their community. Different factors within these relationships can affect how they
learn and perform as students. Students encounter many influential people through their childhood that
affect their learning abilities and characteristics, but parents are statistically proven to have the most
impact on learning by assisting their children with their schoolwork and holding them to a standard
that other people abandon. Parents Clearly, parents spend the most time around their children, which
means they can have the biggest, beneficial impact or a bad impact. Parents have the option of being
very helpful throughout their child s school years or they can neglect them and let them figure life out
on their own. Parents are the child s first teachers. Supportive parents help their children with
homework every night, putting in as much effort as possible.

Tacitus Equality
An example of a major source, which chiefly opposes the alternate interpretations provided by
numerous other sources, is evident through the portrayals delivered by Tacitus in the Annals which
contain a prospect of first century Rome, from Tiberius to Domitian. However in general, Tacitus
offers a vivid representation of the Roman Empire, and doesn t overlook the deadly exploitation and
inhumaneness of the time, especially in regards to Augustus. This same view is further supported as
Tacitus states that the Protection of the laws were continually deranged by violence, intrigue and
corruption and that he, along with all of the Roman people, were Stript of equality... as they ...all
looked up to the commands of a sovereign without the least

Stories Behind Three Names Essay
Thirty Stories Behind Three Names
My name has been around for twenty years. Yeah sure, each part of my name has been around for who
knows how long, but when you put them all together it becomes an original and only been around for
the twenty years that I have been here. Each part has its own story about how I got the name that I did.
My mom, my dad, and my grandma all had something to do with it. All the parts of my name, and
how I got them has helped shape me into who I am and perked am interest in how others got their
names.
In 1997, my name was unique and not very popular. Now, if you put me in a classroom with twenty
people, there is at least one other person with my name. The Social Security Administration ranked
Madison as the second ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stereotypes of my first name are fairly interesting. Sometimes I m a boy, but usually Madison is
negatively stereotyped. Madison is snooty and intimidating. The name of the rich, mean, rude girl,
who is always the antagonist of the movie is named Madison pretty often. If I have an interview or am
getting recognized for something, I stick to Madison because it is a more professional name than my
nickname Maddie. Maddie is a more southern and inviting name. When I was a server at Cracker
Barrel I got twice as many tips because Maddie was on my apron instead of Madison. Maddie isn t an
intimidating name. It s actually friendly. Maddie was a nickname given to me by my grandpa when I
was little. He said that I was too much of a tom boy on the farm to be called such a girly name like
Madison. The name stuck. Everyone calls me Maddie instead of Madison including myself. My mom
is the only person other than an occasional teacher who actually calls me Madison. Mom says, I would
have named you Maddie if that s what I wanted to call you. I hear my mom say this phrase at least
once a month. I like both of the names I was given. I can choose who I want to be or what first
impression I want to give just by choosing what name I introduce myself

  • 2. The Invention Of The Ford Motor Company Divyang Bhatt Ms. Lydia Franzek Inquiry Skills C 34 15 February 2016 Automobiles and Technology in the Prosperous 1920s. During the 1920s the nation prospered under wealth and happiness, something never attainable during or before the wartime. A large increase in income for Americans meant that they were able to afford more appliances like a toaster or a car. Prices dropped with industrial innovations like the moving assembly line. With these new prices, people could buy more per dollar. Henry Ford s, The Ford Motor Company is an example of a business that prospered in the 1920s. The innovation of Ford s Model T allowed many Americans to explore the country and experience being on the road. Along with these new products and appliances, businesses made a new form of payment, credit, which allowed people to pay less up front to use the money they save for other things like food. The 1920s were known as a time of prosperity and inventions and technology such as the automobile helped improve American lives for the better. Businesses prospered when their products were sold at reasonable margins and due to mass consumerism, they made quick profits. Especially in the 1920s as the national average income rose, more people bought more things. Corporate elites built a new more consumer oriented, business philosophy (Scott). This philosophy included the option to buy on a plan called credit. Shoppers now have credit in the form of installment payment plans (Scott). Having to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Causes And Effects Of Air Pollution In China In the past decade, the severe air pollution problem in fast developing countries, particularly in China, has caused highly social and scientific attention. In 2014, 92 % of the world population are exposed over to the WHO Air Quality Guidelines (AQG) PM2.5 concentration level of 10 μg/m3 (World Health Organization, 2016). Ambient particulate matter (PM) pollution ranked as the third leading risk factor in India and Nepal, and ranked as the fifth in China (GBD 2015 Risk Factors Collaborators, 2016). In 2012, about 3 million deaths globally were attributed solely to ambient air pollution, and around 87% of it occurred in low and middle income countries (World Health Organization, 2016). Whilst strong positive trend in PM concentrations are generally attributed to anthropogenic emissions and natural biogenic emissions, it is also affected by the physical meteorology and climate (Guo et al., 2014; Kirtman, B. et al., 2013; Wang et al., 2014; Zhang et al., 2016). Climate in China is largely modulated by the East Asian Monsoon and climate teleconnections with the Niño Southern Oscillation and the Arctic, therefore air quality in China is affected by the variations and change in these climate systems (Cheng et al., 2016; H. Wang et al., 2015; Zhu et al., 2012; Zou et al., 2017). In the last two decades, climate science has achieved great development, but climate information is not currently effectively used by decision makers and stakeholders (Miles et al., 2006). His sister was only eleven years old, but already she was so short and ordinary that it was obvious she would be this way all her life. Her name was square and practical as the rest of her. Mary. (13 19). With his type of description the reader can clearly picture both of the kids knowing how different they are from one another. Erdrich uses the word sweetly to describe the curve that karl s lips had, something that is unusual to find in a description of a person. In the opposite direction Mary is described as being an ordinary girl. His cheeks went pink, he stretched his arms out like a sleepwalker, and in one long transfixed motion he floated to the tree and buried his face in the white petals. (46 49). • 14. Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna was born in Jalapa, Veracruz Mexico, on February 21, 1794. He belongs to a criollo middle class family. His parents were from Spain. He was a Mexican politician and military leader who was President of Mexico eleven times from 1833 to 1855. He was president officially six times, and unofficially five more. He was also a disastrous president of Mexico because he lost Texas and much more of the current American west in the United States. However, by far he was an important figure of his generation in the Mexican history. Many people love him during his first years of president, and he was remembered for two major conflicts, the Battle of the Alamo in 1836 during the Texas Revolution, and as a restored Mexican leader during the Mexican American War in 1847 (tshaonline.org). The prestige of Santa Anna in 1829 helped him to gain the presidency in 1833. In 1829 he fought against Spain s attempt to conquer Mexico, and after his victory everyone looked at him as a good leader. His victory from Spain makes him immediately turn over power. At that time the vice president was Valentín Gómez Farías, and allowed him to make some reforms, including many that aimed at the Catholic Church and the army. Because the people of Mexico do not accept his reforms, Santa Anna stepped in and removed Gómez Farías from power, and consequently he gained the presidency in 1833 as a Federalist and opponent of Roman Catholic Church. Analysis Of Bruce Bairnsfather s One Of Those Balkan Muddles Bruce Bairnsfather s cartoon, One of Those Balkan Muddles, depicts a dejected soldier who is profoundly confused about his nationality and identity. The man does not seem to possess a clear ethnicity or home country, thus neither does he possess a true citizenship. He is not specifically tied to any one people, geographical area, or culture. This caricature reflects a comedized reality for many people living within the borders of the Austro Hungarian Empire during and prior to World War One. The Empire was a confusing, heterogeneous mixture of several ethnicities forced into a single citizenship and state. As a real life example, the imperial census of the Austro Hungarian Empire in 1910 caused problems when it asked subjects to state their identity. The official criterion was the language spoken, yet controversy raged when other officials argued for history, geography, anthropology and ethnography as the key criteria. Divisively, Emperor Franz Joseph, at the head of a dynasty which was supposed to be supra national, put himself down firmly as German on the census form . Bairnsfather s cartoon soldier is the personification of Empire s lack of clear collective identity, and thus lack of true citizenship. This issue will eventually lead to the dissolution of the Empire into several constituent states. In elementary schools, teaching phonics has become extremely important. Phonics is important for students in learning vocabulary and how to read. Additionally, elementary reading requirements have become more vigorous. Elementary curriculums are changing drastically to help students prepare for the new Common Core requirements. Many teachers are going through tons of hours of training and doing a lot of extra work to learn new reading curriculums. The new elementary trainings are costing school districts heaps of money and costing teachers voluminous hours of time, making many teachers disgruntled and frustrated with the change. However, these changes are important for teaching the Common Core, which is why spending money on improving curriculums and educating teachers has become a high priority for school districts. Secondary Level In secondary education, the Common Core is expecting reading, writing, speaking, and listening to be taught in a variety of subject areas, not just ELA. Students should be reading an assortment of texts and writing and speaking about the texts in social studies, science, and technical subjects as well. However, these limited historical precedents, with an imperfect body of jurisprudence from which to draw, afford one objective: the search for justice. This justice, however, is victim to the political will that drives trials (Goldstone, quoted in Historical Evolution From Nuremberg to the International Criminal Court ). Thus, although justice is usually the preeminent focus for a post conflict society, it is also the most difficult to attain (Hayner, 8). The Victorians have made a sidewall to inner and sometimes outer world, becoming mediocre in thinking and acting. The aim of this essay consists in illustrating various aspects that were taken over from Victorians and ingeniously rearranged by A.S. Differentiating Between Market Structures Differentiating Between Market Structures Don Peterson ECO/365 February 2, 2015 Elena Zee Differentiating Between Market Structures A market structure in economics describes the state of a market with respect to its competition. There exist several different market structures like perfect competition, oligopoly, and monopolies among others. These markets all produce different types of goods or services, like public and private goods as well as common and collective goods. Firms operating in these different market structures utilize the labor market in very different ways because of very diverse uses of labor in each market structure, so it is important for a firm to use the labor market equilibrium principles to their advantage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Different companies operate under different business models and one can see that under some market forms, firms have no control over price, in others they have the power to adjust price in a way that adds to its profits. There are different market structures with perfect competition at one end and pure monopoly at the other. In between are different forms called monopolistic competition and oligopoly that share some of the characteristics of both perfect competition and a monopoly competitive structure (Colander, 2013, Chapter 13). Perfect competition exists when products are homogeneous, and there are many firms too small to have any influence on the market price. These types of businesses can easily enter and exit the industry. A situation where even one producer can affect the price of a good by increasing or withholding output is called imperfect competition. Monopolistic competition exists when many producers of slightly differentiated products are able to sell them at well above their marginal cost. The core of the argument for competition is that as long as competition exists in markets no one producer or group of producers can afford to abuse power by charging too much or by selling bogus goods for fear that consumers might turn away from them to buy from other producers. In line with that argument one of the government s tasks is to keep competition alive and functioning. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bacon s rebellion used to be seen as the start of the American Revolution, but now, modern historians have uncovered the truth of the Virginian Rebellion of 1676. Historians have found out that the real issue that caused Nathaniel Bacon s rebellion was his stubbornness and selfishness. The situation became a crisis when, the colonists decided to fight back and made the grave mistake of attacking the wrong Indians, which caused many more Native American attacks to take place. To prevent future attacks, Governor Berkeley ordered an investigation into the issue. He set up what was to be a disaster of a meeting between the Indians and himself, which resulted in the murders of several tribal chiefs. Berkeley tried to be rational with Nathaniel Bacon and the other rebels. However, Bacon ignored the governor and continued his terrible actions against the Native Americans. Then Berkeley approached Bacon and told him how disappointed he was in him, which caused the Virginians to wonder who was right. The governor, Berkeley, attempted to find a compromise. His goal was to maintain the friendship and loyalty that he had with the Indians. To make sure that they had loyalty between themselves Berkeley called the Long Assembly in March 1676. • 47. Arguments Against Wind Energy For many, the mention of wind energy conjures images of giant white turbines, their blades slowly rotating, stretching off into the distance with no end in sight. This is how it has been portrayed in pictures, but this is not how wind energy truly looks. Photographs in books and magazines imply that wind energy would require these never ending fields. On the contrary, smaller fields where a limited amount of turbines create all the power needed and more for a city that is nearby, or smaller individual turbines creating enough energy for a home or neighborhood without being obtrusive, is how wind energy truly looks. Wind energy harnesses the power of the wind and converts it to other forms of energy, one of the main known forms being electricity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The argument behind this logic being that nuclear power can be produced all the time and does not rely on variabilities of the wind. They would also assert that wind turbines produce at a level of only twenty percent of their assessed potential (Canadian Nuclear Association, 2015). However these arguments are taking a short sighted view in order to advance their claims. There are numerous studies underway to increase the storage capacity and find new ways of storing energy derived from wind technology. New technologies are being developed, and some already have been deployed, that address storage capacity. These include wind turbines that include their own built in storage (Trabish, H. K., 2013) and increasing the charge that storage materials are able to hold (Narayanan, Yamada, Karakaya, Podila, Rao Bandaru, 2015), to name a couple. Additionally, the production estimates are much greater than these arguments would claim, as will be addressed further. Add to this that wind energy does not pose the same environmental threats in the form of catastrophic failures, as have been seen in other parts of the world, or face the hazards of mining operations and long term storage and disposal of radioactive waste (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) and it is clear that the perceived benefits of nuclear energy are not easily proven to be greater than those of wind ... People Who Influence Learning The Most Essay The People in a Child s Life who Influence Learning the Most The human brain is most vulnerable to change throughout the early years of a person s life due to its development. The people that enter a child s life can alter their attitude and their effort later on. Most importantly, the skills that they are taught can stick with them until the day they die. Most people in a child s life affect them in some miniscule way and although children never realize it, some people are more crucial to their success than others. Children engage in relationships with their parents, their peers and friends, their teachers, and they take part in their community. Different factors within these relationships can affect how they learn and perform as students. Students encounter many influential people through their childhood that affect their learning abilities and characteristics, but parents are statistically proven to have the most impact on learning by assisting their children with their schoolwork and holding them to a standard that other people abandon. Parents Clearly, parents spend the most time around their children, which means they can have the biggest, beneficial impact or a bad impact. Parents have the option of being very helpful throughout their child s school years or they can neglect them and let them figure life out on their own. Parents are the child s first teachers.
