Frankenstein Isolation Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Frankenstein Isolation" can be a challenging endeavor. The
intricacies of Mary Shelley's classic novel demand a deep understanding of the text, its historical
context, and the psychological nuances embedded in the theme of isolation.
Firstly, one must delve into the layers of Victor Frankenstein's solitude as he grapples with the
consequences of his scientific pursuits. Analyzing the protagonist's emotional and intellectual
isolation involves a meticulous examination of Shelley's narrative choices and character
development. Understanding how Victor's isolation intersects with themes of ambition,
responsibility, and the human condition adds another layer of complexity to the task.
Additionally, exploring the isolation of the Creature in "Frankenstein" requires a nuanced
approach. The monster's alienation from society and the heartbreaking quest for companionship
provide rich material for analysis. Unraveling the psychological impact of societal rejection on
the Creature, and its implications for Shelley's commentary on humanity, requires a keen
interpretative lens.
Furthermore, to create a compelling essay, it's essential to situate the theme of isolation within
the broader literary and historical context. Discussing the Romantic era, Shelley's personal
experiences, and the societal anxieties of the time enriches the analysis, offering a more
comprehensive understanding of the novel's thematic depth.
In essence, composing a meaningful essay on "Frankenstein Isolation" demands a synthesis of
literary analysis, historical contextualization, and a profound appreciation for the complexities of
human emotions. Navigating through the intricacies of Shelley's narrative requires a thoughtful
and analytical approach to capture the essence of isolation as a central motif.

Public Defender Case Summary
We have read in the news recently that there are plenty of public defenders who are
facing budget cuts and are in a financial crisis. This can be seen by a chief public
defender in New Orleans who has had to resort to turning clients away. The public
defender s office in New Orleans is understaffed, currently employing 42
overworked lawyers, in relation to the 72 attorneys and 20 investigators it employed
in 2008. These go against the standard set by the ABA Standards for Criminal Justice
and the ABA Guidelines for the Appointment and Performance of Counsel in Death
Penalty Cases. The National Standards point to the caseload maximus prescribed by
the National Advisory Commission (NAC) on Criminal Justice Standards and Goals,

Supreme Court case law, and improvements in forensic sciences and criminal justice
technologies all of which increases the time needed to render effective
representation beyond what was established in 1973. For exactly this reason, several
experts argue that the NAC standards are far too high, and that the actual maximum,
for felony cases in particular, should be adjusted to well below 150 cases per attorney

Taking a Look at Kingdom Animalia
Animals share certain characteristics such as being heterotrophs, multicellular, no
presence of cell walls, and many more. Animals can further be divided through the
use of a phylogeny, which is an evolutionary tree. A phylogeny shows patterns of
relationships between several different types of species. When branching off to
dissimilar species, characteristics are taken accounted for whether they are derived,
ancestral, or shared traits. Traits include symmetry, tissues, segmentation, body
cavities, and patterns that deal with the development of embryos. The kingdom
Animalia breaks down to two subkingdoms, Parazoa and Eumetazoa. Parazoa include
organisms, such as sponges, who most members lack symmetry, but are multicellular
to help circulate water and reproduce. Eumetazoa separates from Parazoa by
symmetry and definite shape therefore, anything that branches off from Eumetazoa
consist of these characteristics. Eumetazoa, or true animals , further divides among
protostomes and deuterostomes (Telford, 2009). Protostomes and deuterostomes
differentiate by the embryonic development and how the zygote goes through mitotic
divisions, known as cleavage, and so on (Raven et al., 2014). Bilaterally symmetrical
animals have two dissimilar types of development. Therefore because some
protostomes are not bilaterally symmetrical, protostomes broke down to two different
classes, one class being Spiralian protostomes who undergo spiral cleavage in
embryonic development. Spiral
Essay on The Princess and the Pilot
Eve felt something soft, sharp, and icy cold touching against her cheek. When she
tried to move and realized she couldn t, she figured that she was either frozen solid
or buried deep beneath a thick layer of heavy snow. Her body was so numb from
the bitter cold that she couldn t tell whether anything was pressing down on it. She
tried to remember how long she d been out. Had she been knocked
unconscious...No. No, then she remembered. She d been sleeping, in the balloon.
But how had she ended up on the ground? But before she could come up with any
sort of an answer, she heard someone cry her name, and in an instant she was
scooped up from the snowy ground she had been laying upon. Eva, she heard a voice

The trees around them were larger than any Eve had ever seen before, with thick
branches and boughs that hung low to the ground, forming a small hideaway

sat her next to the trunk, knelt down before her, and took her hands. Are you
ready? she whispered calmly. It s a quiet game. I m going to leave you here, only
for a few moments...and if you stay absolutely silent and don t make a sound until I
get back, then you ll be the winner. Eve hesitated, starting to see what her mother
was really getting at. You ll be gone? Only for the shortest while. Her mother
hooked their pinkies together. I promise. Can you be brave and stay as quiet as
you can for that long? Will I win something if I do? Of course you will. It s a very

her mother s deep brown eyes, wishing she could be as brave as she was. O...O
Okay... she said. Her mother s smile grew ever warmer. You re a sweetheart, she

Georges Seurat s Young Woman Powdering Herself
At the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston I choose Georges Seurat s painting, Young
Woman Powdering Herself . Seurat s painting portrays Seurat s mistress who
Georges kept a secrete relationship with for about 3 years. Georges Seurat carries out
Young Woman Powdering Herself during the 19th century. Majority of Georges
Seurat s work is considered to have a French/ Impressionist style. The medium and
technique used for Young Woman
Powdering Herself is an oil on canvas. By using
oil paints on his work, Seurat is able to make the colors as well as the vivid colors on
his work standout, which ultimately reinforces the subject.
There were no evident clues in which showed why Georges Seurat painted Young

The two elements Seurat s uses in his work are light and pointillism. The use of
theses two elements help brings femininity and beauty to his painting. Georges is
known for bringing out light in how it appears in nature in his work. Through the of
the medium of pointillism, Seurat is able to create a bigger picture in his work.
Seurat use of the element light helps show hoe light bounce around. For instance, the
way the light travels through the open window and bounces off of the young woman
s skin shows the light that is being presented. Through this, Seurat reveals the light in
places where the light hits first.
Through Georges Seurat s use of numerous shades of color such as tint, value,
warms colors, and cool colors he is able to create a certain mood/feeling. His use of
tint in multiple areas helps bring depth to the painting. The use of value of the
colors is used to portray the lightness and darkness in the painting. The usage of
warm colors in the painting, which is primarily around the woman in the center
create a mood of warmth toward her. Lastly, the use of cool colors in the background
aid in allowing the viewer to focus more on the woman and the

Implementation of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) with IT
services has poised to bring massive revolutionary changes in the world. The world
would not be the same without the intervention of Information Technology in our
day to day work. There is no doubt that implementation of ICT has got lot of
advantages ,right from our banking needs to daily shopping ,from our travel needs
to social networking ,everything has been revolutionized by Information
Technology (William H. Dutton, Malcolm Peltu,1996). Today web has become
hot bed for providing reliable platform for various web applications such as
ecommerce, messaging and social networking. However as we know nothing can
be completely perfect, and there might be presence of snag defects in an entity
.Same is true in this case as well, implementation of ICT has definitely created a
wide array of advantages for the users but at the same time it has given birth to
large number of threats, which a user faces all the time while he is on the web.
This is more critical when it comes to financial transactions, which takes place on
the web. These threats are not limited to any particular individual, but are prevalent
in large organizations as well. In the next few sections we will discuss these threats
in detail and will also discuss their structure. Different Type of Threats and their

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Essay
The Boy in Striped Pajamas is a heartrending film based on Bruno s struggles with
friends, family, and a new home. Bruno, a young boy who is the son of a Nazi
soldier, faces multiple troublesome situations. Even through Bruno s struggles, the
film supports a major theme of friendship. In this movie, Bruno and Shmuel strike an
unlikely friendshipthat would ultimately be life changing. The movie makes it clear
that friendship can break all boundaries. The Boyin Striped Pajamas effectively uses
the elements of sound, costuming, lighting, and dialogue to support the theme of
friendship. The element of sound is used throughout the entirety of the filmto support
the essence of friendship. In the opening scenes of the movie, Bruno is seen playfully

Lighting is used multiple times throughout the film to support the theme of
friendship. The first example of lighting is present in the opening scenes of the
movie. As Bruno and his friends are playfully running through the streets of Berlin,
the sun is shining and the picture is bright. In contrast, Bruno s home when he finds
out that his family is moving is dark and gloomy. Once again, the director uses the
lighting to display Bruno s emotions. When Bruno is with his friends, the shining
light indicates his happiness. However, when Bruno discovers that he is leaving his
friends, the dark lighting displays Bruno s dismal feeling. Similarly, the same
concepts are used in the later stages of the film. As Bruno wanders into the backyard,
he finds the shed with a window, a possible route to the farm . As Bruno looks up at
the window, the light shining through the open window is vibrant. This bright light
represents Bruno s escape from this place without friends to the farm where
friendship surely awaits him. Finally, the director uses lighting in scenes with both
Bruno and Shmuel to show their friendship. In scenes where Bruno and Shmuel are
together, the lighting is bright, once again representing the friendship between the
two, along with Bruno s happiness in this friendship. However, in the closing scenes
of the movie, the lighting while Bruno and Shmuel are together becomes

Concertgoers complain about the convenience charges as well as parking and
facility fees that Ticketmaster tacks on, which can account for more than thirty
per cent of the cost of a ticket. Promoters worry that, as the top grossing touring
acts the Rolling Stones, the Eagles, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, U2,
Madonna get older, very few younger acts are popular enough to fill stadiums and
arenas on the two year long tours that superstar rock bands undertake. (Forty per
cent of the seats at all Live Nation concerts go unsold.) Most galling to the four
stakeholders involved in putting on a concert the artist, the promoter, the venue
operator, and the ticket seller is the loss of billions of dollars in revenue to the
secondary market : the Internet driven business of ticket reselling, in which ticket
brokers and scalpers profit, while the people who take the artistic and financial

Brainwashing Is Bad
Brainwashing is to make (someone) adopt radically different beliefs by using
systematic and often forcible pressure. People use brainwashing everywhere,
everyday. It is used by the government, politicians, News Sites, Commercials/Ads,
Churches, Cults, etc. A person who is brainwashed usually knows who their enemy
is, a person under mind control has no idea they are being controlled. There are many
different techniques and strategies used on a brainwashed victim. In advertisingfor
instance, they use repetition, repeating a phrase, word, sound, or idea to a potential
customer. Brainwashing is never morally acceptable, it is making someone do
something unwillfully.
Now that you understand the basics of brainwashing, let s begin the real topic. ...

During the Korean War, Korean soldiers brainwashed captured American POWs.
Some of these prisoners ended up confessing to committing germ warfare (which
they hadn t) and pledging their allegiance to communism. Once the soldiers were
freed, at least 21 would not return to America. Even though 21 people were
brainwashed, that number is out of 20,000 POWs. This shows that not all minds
can be brainwashed, if you have the mental fortitude you cannot be touched by
these methods of thought reform. Many scientists state that the Korean soldiers
used plain old torture which caused the American POWs to act the way they did.
In conclusion, brainwashing will not work on everyone, some people are more
susceptible than others. Now that you understand the inner workings of
brainwashing, I can explain how we as a society, are brainwashed to believe many
different things. We are brainwashed to believe we need a certain car. There are not
many differences between automobiles nowadays, besides maintenance and the cost
of the car itself. Car advertisements brainwash us into believing their model will
bring us joy, power, luxury (whatever they want us to believe). This makes us feel
the need to own their car and puts that thought in our mind. In reality the vehicle won
t bring us joy past the first couple weeks of the
The Genealogy of Jesus Christ
The New Testament includes four Gospels that encompass a variety of narrative
accounts relating to Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Matthew; is sequentially placed as
the first book within the New Testament. Furthermore, it is a canonical account of
the life of Jesus, and is recognized as one of the synoptic Gospels. These accounts
are divided into twenty eight chapters that appear in the form of a parable, proverb,
law, or miracle story found within modern day poetry, letters, or literary tracts.
Moreover, each narrative account possesses influential and intellectual material that
attracts readers to examine it further. However, out of the four Gospels, Matthew s is

The content and tenor of the Gospel relates to Jewish ideals and values, which lead to
the belief that Matthew s audience had a large Jewish population. His designations of
the person of Jesus are designed to appeal to a Jewish audience. His main goal was
to divert the Jews perception from Jesus being a false Messiah but rather their long
awaited Messiah. Also he tries to prove to them that the Jewish prophecies had been
fulfilled in Jesus; by refuting other Jewish leaders and their different views and
practices . Furthermore, great competition between Matthews audiences formed
because of Jesus, thus caused Matthew s plot to solely focus on conflict. This is
because Matthew is engaged in some sort of polemic against the Jewish authorities.
This is exemplified through the groups signified by the Pharisees, with Jesus
speaking about the incompetence of the Pharisees, their influence and their actions. It
is evident that Matthew s audiences were confused because Matthew brings forth a
different point of view from what they are accustomed too, through his attempt of
proving to them that Jesus is the Messiah.
In order for one to understand the opposing viewpoints within this era, Matthew s
readers need to have a thorough understanding of what the Jews perceived the
Messiah to be and the criterion the Messiah had to fulfill. The term Messiah was
derived from the Hebrew Mashiach, which means the anointed one, and refers to the
ancient practice of

Lacking data, managers often found themselves making business decisions about how
many products to make, how much material to order, or how many employees to hire

compile, analyse, and comprehend massive amounts of data daily, which helps them
make more successful business decisions. Examples include: Sales date, Quantity

useful context. Having the right information at the right moment in time can be
worth a fortune. Having the wrong information at the right moment; or the right
information at the wrong moment can be disastrous. The truth about information is
that its value is only as good as the people who use it. People using the same
information can make different decisions depending on how they interpret or analyse

Sacrifice In The Odyssey
Homer might just be the greatest narrative author to have ever put ink on paper,
but what is truly undeniable is how much depth is put into his characters,
especially his heroes. The heroes of the Iliad and Odyssey are larger than life and
they embody what it means to be a Greek Hero. We would expect these heroes to be
everything great about man and not suffer any of the same things that the other
mortals experience. But Homer s heroes cry and they don t just cry, they weep. They
weep for loved ones, cry for the brutality of fate, and the lament the loss of that most
important thing: honor. In book one of the Iliadwe find Achilleus in a desperate
situation:
He led forth from the hut Briseis of the fair cheeks and gave her to be taken away; .
. . But Achilleus weeping went and sat in sorrow apart from his companions beside
the beach of the gray sea looking out on the infinite water.
Many times stretching forth his hands he called on his mother:
Since, my mother, you bore me to be a man with a short life,
Therefore Zeus of the loud thunder on Olympos should grant me
Honor at least. But now he has given me not even a little.
Now the son of Atreus, powerful Agamemnon,
Has dishonored me, since he has taken away my prize and keeps it. 1
Achilleus, the greatest fighter in the Iliad, is weeping on the beach, certainly this is
not the hero we are meant to idealize. But if one pushes past the surface we see that

War In The Vietnam War
One does not have to spend much time in a history book to find a recurrent theme of
selfishly motivated commanders behind large scale conflicts throughout time. Of
course, the odd justifiable war exists, such as the American Revolution, in which the
thirteen colonies were waging a full scale war for their independence from their
oppressive mother country. In general, however, one can trace the reasons for military
enactment back to a power hungry leader such as Hitler, a jealous lover like
Menelaus of Sparta, a haughty invader akin to William the Conqueror, or some other
form of a selfish persona with no regard for the havoc warwreaks on those below
them. Those who hold the reins of armies have an incredible responsibility to make

How Did Jacob Riis Impact Society

How Does Exponential Growth Grow
Exponential Growth/Decay and how to use it
Exponential growth is growth whose rate becomes ever more rapid in proportion
to the growing total number or size. Exponential growth has three parts the initial
value, the rate of change, and the number of years(y=a(1+or 1 r)t) When Y is what
you get when you plug in your numbers, a is your initial value, and r is your rate of
change and if it is a change where the Y value gets smaller then it is exponential
decay and that is minus one t o the rate of change but if it is exponential growth then
you add one to the rate of change, then there is t which is your number of years
which should be an exponent to r.
My word problem was, The population of Luck, Wisconsin in 2015 was 527 and is
growing by an annual rate of 1.90%. The equation was Y=527(1.19) raised to the

choose what ever numbers you want in order for your t values and whatever that
number is you plug it into your equation to find your y value then you put that into
the table. My table looked like this.

True Love In Titanic
Far out in the chilling temperatures and climate of the Atlantic Ocean, where the
creations of mother nature bring out the best and worst of human nature, a ship of
prodigious size and feet sets the stage for a maxim that defines the actions of humans.
The 1997 film, Titanic, it is shown greatly on how true lovecan affect someone. A
girl named Rose who is depressed meets this spontaneous character named Jack.
Jack and Rose are from very different worlds and of opposite social classes. They
both are voyaging on the Titanicin which is where they meet and where Jack gives
her his all to save her in every way possible. In his film Titanic, James Cameronuses
the elements of a damsel in distress along with the hero throughout the film to
convey that we as humans can conquer fear with true love because love provides us
with comfort and the feel of safety when fear takes that away.
The damsel in distress, showed in the movie Titanic, was deeply depressed and
mentally trapped in her world. This was a world in which she didn t want to be
included in. She was trapped in an abusive soon to be marriage and her mother
spoke to her in the same way a director directs a movie but instead Rose was that
movie. Rose had lost her sanity. She decided that suicide was the answer. Jack
Dawson; the hero, swashbuckler pulled her from the outside of the ship to save her
and showed her he truly cared about her. Her fiancГ© and mother had been dragging
her through a life she despised of. She
Dust Bowl Video Analysis
There were many factors that contributed to the creation of the historic black
blizzards also known as the era of the Dust Bowl. Some of the main factors were
insufficient farming practices, heavy plowing, and drought. For instance, according
to the YouTube video, the video discussed how farmers at the time were using
methods that deprived the soil of its nutrients. The video goes on to explain how
farmers were heavily plowing the fields which caused the elimination of natural
grasses of the prairie that held the soil in place. Furthermore, the video explains how
the drought contributed to the dust bowlbecause crops were not being watered, which
allowed the topsoil of the crops to turn into dust.(Video). Even though new machinery

The Dust Bowl was inevitable mainly due to the fact that the natural lack of water
kept farmers from reviving the land. Which lead the land to become a large desert. To
add on farmers were using farming methods that greatly impacted the soils health and
resilience. Furthermore, their farming ways not only killed the nutrients but
eliminated native grass that held the soil together. Farmers damaged the ecology and
agriculture of the lands. It was enviable that human destroy this land for the their own
greedy purposes. In essence, humanity and nature were the causes of the Dust Bowl.
The Dust Bowl brought a countless amount of misfortunes to the natives and farmers
of Oklahoma. The Dust Bowl had affected the mental health of the public and farmers

Henderson, Henderson enlightens the Secretary of Agriculture, Henry Wallace on
how Oklahoma was once a state that was thriving. Henderson explains how little
towns have sprung up with new houses, trees, schools, etc. During
Sure Thing Essay
Sure Thing In David Ives short one act comedy play Sure Thing he examines a
number of variations in which a conversation between a guy and girl could take
place. Theme, setting, plot, characters all of these things are essential to the
understanding and captivation of the audience. With every exchange of
conversation there is the ability to regain a fresh start by getting a second chance
to make a good impression. The setting of this play is simple, a coffee shop. The
setting is perfect for what Ives is trying to portray. Most people have had a
conversation in a coffee shop with a stranger that they walk away from and wish they
had said something different. Coffee shops are small, quite and conversation inviting.

`` Please Fire Me `` By Deborah Garrison Essay
Women have long been fighting for their right to be seen as equal to men. Even to
this day, women continue to fight for their rights, things such as the right to non
gender discriminatory wages. While there may be some arguments over the state of
gender equality in the modern world, it is undeniable that there have been great
strides made toward recognizing the females worth in the workforce and as a human
being. Despite these strides, however, things are still not yet ideal for women and
many of the issues females face today are the very same issues that have been
plaguing them for decades. While it is unfortunate the oppression of women has been
so long lived, the length of that exposure has thankfully enabled many talented
writers to both lament over the fact and emphasize the need for genderequality.
Deborah Garrison s 1998 poem, Please Fire Me, opens by describing animals
engaged in causing some sort of commotion. From the opening lines describing
alpha males (Garrison 761, lines 1 4), the reader can identify that the scenario that
is being described is controlled by the male presence. Garrison then describes
nearby hens which are described as having quivering claws (762, line 7), showing
fear and intimidation as they discuss the alpha males activity. The third stanza in the
poem is the first to give the reader the information about what is actually being
described. Another alpha male joins the pack, but is then described as a man s man
who can hold
Lee Brandy Station Analysis
Lee s simple agrarian life, however, was short lived. When his home state seceded in
April 1861, the Virginian once again took up the sword this time as a captain in the
9th Virginia Cavalry, attached to what would ultimately become his father s
command, the Army of Northern Virginia. In his year of service with the regiment,
Lee took an active part in the Seven Days Battles, and the Second Manassas and
Maryland Campaigns, ascending to the colonelcy of the regiment along the way.
When the Army of Northern Virginiareorganized its mounted arm in November 1862,
Rooney Lee was given charge of a brigade and promoted to brigadier general.
Limited cavalry operations at the end of 1862 and in the spring of 1863 gave Lee
little chance to test his mettle as a brigadier. However, on the morning of June 9,
1863, Lee, then camped near Brandy Station, Virginia, heard firing in the direction
of the Rappahannock River at Beverly s Ford. Riding to the sound of the guns, the
general organized a defensive position, taking advantage of the terrain and a low
stone wall. For five hours Lee s cavaliers fought off repeated assaults by Union
cavalry under General John Buford, effectively stalling the Federal advance and
exacting a fearsome toll in casualties. Lee, however, did not escape unscathed. As
the battle of Brandy Station drew to a close, the brigadier was badly wounded in the

The Musical Theatre And Film
Music Theatre
1.What is the background of this art form? (where does it originate from? What
important political, cultural and/or environmental things were occurring in this part
of the world that would affected the creation of this art form?)
Musical Theatre is a form of theater combing music, songs, and spoken dialog,
which can be traced back to the theatre of ancient Greece. The music and dance were
included in stage comedies and tragedies during the 5th century BCE. However, the
music is disappeared in these eras for a long time, so that they had no real influence
on the development of modern musical theatre and film. There is no serious effect of
a musical theatre over the society and political. However, it The Pacific Standard said
that Musicals have the Power to Change Minds. Although Broadway musicals are
often thought of as lightweight entertainment, many of the greatest shows
incorporate serious themes and challenge audience members assumptions. American
Psychological Association published research provides evidence that will warm the
hearts of cockeyed optimists. Audience members reports of emotional engagement
and insight were significantly related to hunting attitude change. Participants who had
complex emotional reactions to score higher on multiple engagement measure.
Although previous research has found a link between strength of audience emotional
involvement and personal efficacy, present results suggest an important additional
role for complexity
Key Elements For Fedex Corporations Success From...
The FedEx Corporation has been the world s leading express shipping and
distribution company almost three decades. In its time frame, it has expanded into
five companies that is spread across 211 counties. The purpose of this paper is to
introduce some of the key elements to FedEx corporations success from strategy,
innovation, planning, and ethics. This paper will also examine and compare the four
types of innovation theories in relation to innovation, planning, strategy, and business
ethics. Innovation Theories Innovation is defined as a method to doing or creating
something different or new. Before starting the innovation process, it is imperative
that the plans create opportunities to add growth to the company. When innovation...

Value innovation can be achieved by implementing a focus on innovation and
creation of new market possibilities (Value Innovation, 2015). Kim and Mauborgne
explains how innovative companies beat their competitors by creating products or
services for which there aren t any present. With value innovation it doesn t mean
that a company develops or creates new goods or services. The goal of value
innovation is to create new demands in efforts to change the market as well as
make competitors irrelevant. Value innovation can improve existing services as well
as lower the cost for the company and their customers. The Blue Ocean Strategy is a
strategy that companies use as an opportunity for quick profitable growth. It focuses
on those markets within the same industry that have not been in existence; therefore,
competition is not an issue. The Blue Ocean Strategy is different from the
traditional strategy in that the traditional strategy focuses on value and cost as a
trade; however, for Blue Ocean Strategy, companies pursue the expansion of a
current product and low cost at the same time (Kim W. and Mauborgne, R., 2004).
The key elements of the Blue Ocean Strategy are: value proposition, profit
proposition, and people proposition; however, if one of these propositions is not
addressed properly, then it causes an imbalance in an effort to execute the strategy.

Should There Be Stricter Gun Control Laws In The United...
Guns or No Guns
INTRODUCTION:
The role guns play in our society has long been debated on whether or not citizens
have the right to own guns. There are those who believe that guns have no role in the
hands of private citizens. Whereas there are those who believe that guns are the very
foundation that protects our rights and liberties expressed in the Constitution. The
debate is over whether or not there should be stricter laws preventing people to own
guns. Though gun control and gun rights advocates share similar views on
background checks and requirements, each have different views on the safety of guns
and the Second Amendment meaning.
Safety: CONTRAST
Both sides of gun control advocates believe that the safety of American citizens is the
most important thing within the argument of the ban of guns, but they both have
different views on how it should be handled.
No Guns:
Some people believe that the United States is safer when citizens are not allowed
access to guns. The amount of organized crime would go down because all of their
power is derived from their use of firearms and that is a significant amount of their
profit. Gun control laws protect children and families; Moms Demand Action, a
grassroots group founded in response to the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary
School, believes guns in America are creating a public health crisis that is attacking
children, citing statistics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second amendment clearly gives Americans the right to bear arms which led to
the founding of our country ( The Constitution of the United States, Amendment 2).
Gun advocates believe the new legislation will separate them from their rights
because putting laws on their firearms will be against Amendment II. The right to
bear arms for self defense is protected in all states as well as the U.S. Constitution.

Chipotle Core Competencies
Chipotle Mexican Grill is a fast food restaurant that opened its doors in 1993. They
specialize in serving a focused menu of several Mexican foods which are made
with only high quality ingredients and are priced reasonably. They also serve their
dishes fast and in a restaurant, unlike most fast food restaurants, as it is
aesthetically pleasing and has good interior design. Core Competencies One of
Chipotle s significant core competencies is to offer premium quality food at a low
cost. In 2003 to 2004 Chipotle decided to obtain locally grown produce and meat
from farms with high animal welfare standards. Farmers who followed the guidelines
set forth by the Department of Agriculture s were Chipotle s priority suppliers to
fulfill their Food with Integrity campaign. Providing a close business relationship
with these farmers has enabled both Chipotle and the farmers to have a competitive
advantage over their competition. Chipotle has found their customers appreciate a
restaurant with strong food ethics. Chipotle is currently leading the way for fast
casual dining especially since the trend in North America is for better healthier
ingredients. Chipotle also has a focused but limited menu. This affords their
customers the opportunity to make an easy decision and obtain their food quickly.
Chipotle has the means to focus on quality of all of their menu items. Competitors
can find it difficult to imitate the menu because of all of their items they serve; there

Racism In Dave Chappelle
There are many racists in America. Racism is a battle constantly being fought.
While racism can be very obvious, it could be very subtle, so subtle to the point that
one could be racist without knowing. Racism is often overlooked as it is masked by
ignorant attitudes. This prejudice is an issue from the bottom to the top. From crude
remarks on bumper stickers to laws that are designed to indirectly attack minorities,
racismis everywhere. Dave Chappelle, a notorious comedian, recognizes these
societal issues and uses his platform to attack these inexcusable, inexplicable, and
unacceptable racists. While Dave Chappelle is a very funny man, there is truth
behind all good jokes.
Dave Chappelle was the king of comedy. He had his own show on Comedy Central,
did many stand ups and guest starred in many SNL skits. His works were filled
heavily with racial satire with the intent to attack and expose racism throughout
America in a non threatening way. Dave Chappelle s masterful delivery and extreme
horatian satirical techniques allow for top shelf entertainment with an underlying,
thought provoking message.
A common target of Dave Chappelle is white privilege. White privilege is an
societal advantage that a white person has despite being in the the same social,
political, or economic circumstances as a non white person. A good example of
white privilege, is the relations between minorities and the police. According to The
New Progressive, despite white people making up 44% of the
The Physics Of The Atomic Theory
In chemistry, it has been stated that atoms are the basic building blocks of ordinary
matter that contain protons, neutrons, electrons, and can join to form molecules.
(Gagnon) Atoms are really tiny and are considered the source of nuclear energy in
all kinds of matter. The atomic theory became a very important piece in chemistry
because it explained the atomic structure and how it worked. Important scientists that
helped contribute to this theory were people like John Dalton and J.J. Thompson
which helped establish a foundation to the theory, as well as create experiments that
helped provide evidence of their findings. John Dalton was an important scientist
that established the atomic theory. His theory was as follows: 1.All matter is made
of atoms. Atoms are invisible and indestructible. 2. All atoms of given elements are
identical in mass and properties. 3. Compounds are formed by a combination of 2 or
more different kinds of atoms. 4. A chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms. 5.
Atoms cannot be created or destroyed. (Leon) Dalton brought up this information
while using his gas experiments and it helped him determine the properties of atoms.
Although Democritus had somewhat already had a theory on matter, Dalton explored
and expanded the theory into what it is today. Dalton was inspired and borrowed the
term atomos or atoms from Democritus to label his particles. (Leon) Dalton also
created the first chart of atomic weights and introduced his belief that atoms
Plea Bargaining Argumentative Analysis
No one likes to be incarcerated in a six by eight foot room for twenty three hours of
the day. Rather than having the defendant plead guilty, many cases around the U.S.
have plea bargaining as a form of negotiation between the defendant, prosecutor, and
defense counsel on behalf of the interests involved (Schmalleger 2016). It has
quickened the judicial system by having cases no longer lead to trial and helps the
prosecutor and the defendant agree to a guilty plea if the prosecutor is unsure of a
win. Plea bargaining helps the courts run smoothly when they have a large amount of
work. Considering the type of defendant, plea bargaining often times comes with
conditions where the defendant helps investigators or other law enforcement agencies
Lacrosse Rules By Chris Hayhurst
The book Lacrosse Rules, Tips, Strategy, and Safety by Chris Hayhurst is a
nonfiction book all about the sport, lacrosse. This book talks about both girls
lacrosse and boys lacrosse. It talks about both the similarities and the differences
between boys and girls lacrosse. But I believe they could have added in additional
chapter focusing on girls lacrosse. When I say girls lacrosse I am talking about the
rules. In boys lacrosse no matter what age you are you are allowed to check another
player s stick. If you don t know what checking is it s when one player hits the other
player who has the balls stick to try and knock it out and gain possession of the ball.
But in girls lacrosse we are not always allowed to do that. Compared to boys lacrosse
Kite Persuasive Speech
Aesop was a slave and storyteller who lived in ancient Greece. Through their
morals, his fables taught many important lessons that are still used in society today.
One such fable was that of the Hawk, the Kite, and the Pigeons . One day, a cote of
pigeons became frightened after seeing a kite flying nearby. Unable to defend
themselves, the pigeons called upon the Hawk to defend them. After the Hawk
obliged, he was admitted into the cote. The pigeons discovered that in one day, the
Hawk slaughtered more pigeons and wrought more destruction than the Kite could in
a year. The moral of this fable is it is better to avoid a remedy that is worse than the
disease. When discussing whether or not the U.S. Government should enforce

To make vaccines mandatory would also necessitate some form of financial aid for
people below the poverty line that cannot afford them. To do so would increase
economic instability within the United States due to the financial costs outweighing
the financial benefits. Many supporters of mandatory vaccines would argue that the
federal government would save money over the long run by reducing the amount of
financial aid granted to citizens who are already sick and do not have health
insurance. In response to this, the following contention may be established: many
diseases that American citizens receive vaccinations for have already been declared
eradicated within the United States. In a TED Talk presented in November of 2014,
Dr. Romina Libster, a medical researcher who specializes in pathology, spoke on the
necessity of vaccines in all people in order to establish and maintain global herd
immunity. While Doctor Libster makes many excellent points on the effects that
vaccinating every person in the world would entail, she also overlooks the fact that
the United States is an exception to her model of herd immunity. The argument of
mandatory vaccines aiding in the retention of herd immunity is nullified due to the
fact that the United States has already reached and maintained herd immunity from
Remedies Under Breach Of Contract
1.3 Remedies available under breach of contract
1.3.1 Breach of a Contract
A breach of contract is where a party to a contract fails to perform, precisely and
faithfully, his obligations under the contract. This can take numerous forms for
example, the failure to supply goods or perform a service as agreed. Breach of
contract may be either actual or anticipatory.
пѓ Actual breach occurs where one party refuses to form his side of the bargain on
the due date or performs incompletely. For example: Poussard v Spiers and Bettini v
Gye.
пѓ Anticipatory breach occurs where one party announces, in advance of the due
date for performance, that he intends not to perform his side of the bargain. The
innocent party might sue for damages immediately the breach is announced. Hochster
v De La Tour is an example. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1.3.2 Remedy
A legal remedy is a court order that seeks to uphold a person s rights or to
reparation a breach of the law. When one party breaches a contract, the other party
might ask a court to deliver a remedy for the breach. The court might order the
breaching party to pay money to the non breaching party.Without a remedial
response; a right would be of little value. Thus the law has established a series of
remedial responses where a breach of contract befalls. The innocent party might keep
a right of action by claiming one or more of the following remedies:
пѓ suit for rescission
пѓ suit for damages
пѓ suit for quantum meruit
пѓ suit for specific

1.According to Dr. Hoppin, what does it take to do a good review of an original
scientific article (6 points)?
Dr. Hoppin discussed four main responsibilities in guiding reviewer in the
reviewing process of scientific paper. When reviewing a scientific article, the role
of reviewers is to shear their experience, knowledge, time and provide constructive
criticisms and suggestions. The reviewer has to be motivated by providing
suggestions for improving the article to be more educational, informative and useful
for clinical practice. Also, a good review of a scientific paper requires from the
reviewer to be scientific expertise which include awareness and a mastery of the
scientific literature. This process needs from the reviewer to has experience and
personal background. If the scientific article outside the reviewer expertise; he/she
should refuse to review the scientific paper. Moreover, according to Dr. Hoppin, the
reviewer needs to have helpful attitude. He/she should seek to be respectful,
positive, patient and objective when offering comments and suggestion to authors to
improve the scientific article. The reviewer role is to consult and advice not to
judge. In addition, before reviewing an article, the reviewer needs to schedule
enough time and attention to review the paper before the deadline. The reviewer s
level of experience, length of article and complexity of paper can affect the amount
of time required to complete specific task. {{370}}

Galileo s View of the New World Essay
Galileo s letter to the Grand Duchess Christina caused much controversy when it was
written in 1613. It caused such controversy because it was an indirect attack on the
Catholic Church with a viewpoint that was not of the status quo . This essay will
thoroughly analyse this document. It will analyse the context behind what was
happening in 17th century with regards to science and religion. Secondly it will
critically explain and analyse the grounds behind why this document actually holds
significance. This will make the argument that Galileo wanted to make the distinction
between science and religion. In order to understand and analyse this source, the letter
needs to be in its 17th century context. During this period, the Catholic... Show more

He argues that Galileo liked to create controversy . This could set a precedent that
Galileo wanted to cause uproar by going so far to the extreme that the nobles and
the Church would take a serious look into his findings, when he may have
exaggerated certain points. One of Galileo s main issues was the purpose of scripture
with regards to interpretation. Galileo makes the argument that Scripture cannot be
wrong but it is up to the interpretation of it. For example, he stated, Though the
scripture cannot err, nevertheless some of its interpreters and expositors can
sometimes err in various ways . Furthermore he states that if we were to take the
literal meaning of what the scripture states we would be personifying God by giving
him human characteristics of a body and emotions. In essence the literal
interpretation would give God the right to make mistakes, which of course would not
be accepted by anyone in the church. Galileo did have a basis for his argument on the
relation of the interpretation of scripture with regards to science. Copernicus, in his
letter to Pope Paul III, stated that there are many differing interpretations within the
scientists focused on astronomy. One of the main points he makes is that astronomers
cannot agree on how to accurately measure the tropical year . Copernicus
A Major Measure Of Biological Fitness
A major measure of biological fitness in a population is the fecundity, or reproductive
success rate, of female organisms (Berger et al, 2008). For insects in particular many
factors influence the number of eggs produced during the lifetime of a female. One
key factor in insect reproduction is the ambient environmental temperature. Insects
are ectothermic and therefore rely on their environment to provide the heat needed to
carry out normal reproductive functions. Ambient heat dependence for insects has
been thought to have a greater effect on fertility success than other contributing
factors such as increased female body size. Studies by Berger and others have shown
that the European speckled wood butterfly, Pararge aegeria, can only reproduce in the
temperature range of 8В°C and 14 В°C even when controlling for larger female body
sizes. The findings of the study suggest that temperature can limit insectreproduction
in two specific ways. First, the development of the egg may be inhibited by
temperature ranges that are outside the preferred range of the insect. Second, the
female s range of time she is able to lay eggs is reduced when the temperature of the
immediate environment is not conducive to the survival of her offspring (Berger et
al, 2008). Thus, temperature is a paramount factor when considering the success rate
of many insect species.
Other studies have shown the importance of temperature on reproductive success of
certain insects and the implications that

Character Analysis Of Captain Nemo
Character Analysis Captain Nemo is remembered as one of the greatest anti heroes in
all of science fiction. The commander of the Nautilus is brilliantly mysterious, and a
sinister character who still shows signs of sorrow. He seems to be at war with
humanity, yet gives back to the poor. The name Nemo means no one in latin, which
only increases the uncertainty surrounding the captain. Captain Nemofirst describes
himself by saying I am not what you call a civilised man! I [am] done with society
entirely, for reasons which I alone have the right of appreciating. I do not... obey
its laws, and I desire you never to allude to them before me again! (Verne, 57). The
outright anger displayed by Nemo alludes to his hatred of society, and sheds light
on the reasoning of his self imposed exile. Nemo s efforts to separate himself and
his men from society is shown in the burial process for his dead crew members.
Instead of burying his men on land, Nemo buries them in a massive underwater
burial, to keep them safe from sharks and men (Verne, 150). Out of respect toward
the bodies and in an almost , Nemo believes it is just as important to keep the dead
bodies out of the reach of humans as it is to prevent them from being eaten by sharks.
Although Nemo goes through great effort to isolate himself from civilization, signs
of compassion towards humanity in his character through his actions displayed at
Vigo Bay. At the site of a great naval battle, Captain
Children Are The Future Of The World
In today s society, children encounter many different troubles, and they struggle
with things than most people actually don t notice, but who does a person refer to
when they suspect something is troubling a child? Whose responsibility is it to
help the child whenever there is a problem in need of addressing, and how would
they go about solving the problem? Sometimes it can be a challenging task to
figure out what can be troubling a child. Because children in modern society are
exposed to and involved with so much more than past generations, it makes it
difficult for adults to connect and understand what the children go through because
they don t experience the same things that the child does on a daily basis. The
youth today are the future of the world, which makes it a major priority for them to
be provided with basic needs for living and also for them to be mentally and
physically healthy, as well as keeping them happy during the time of their life where
they should have very little responsibility and live carefree. Many children have a
hard time when dealing with things troubling them and a harder time talking to
someone about those things that are causing troubles with them. School Social Work
deals with children and their families throughout the course of adolescent education.
Children in today s society experience many troubles that can go unnoticed a
majority of the time. Fortunately, when a child is showing strong signs of a problem,
there are school social
A Comparison Of The Revenant And To Build A Fire
The movie The Revenant and the short story To Build a Fire, tell two different
stories, one holds a plot of revenge fueled by one mans love of his son. The other is
a simpler story of survival, or more appropriately a story of attempting to survive.
Looking at these stories from as simple a point of view as just plot, the reader or
viewer, would miss the undeniable similarities that these two stories share. These
stories share three main similarities which are, the main characters fight for survival,
the setting in which the story takes place, and the use of symbolism included in the
story.
In both stories the main characters face an unbelievable challenge of trying to survive
an incredible struggle. For Hugh Glass the main character of The Revenant he faces
this challenge multiple times within the movie. The unnamed man in To Build a
fire faces it once which is the main conflict in the story. Hugh first survives an
attack by the Ree by helping his crew of fur traders escape to the boat. The next
morning, he goes on a hunt and barely survives a bear attack. From then on out his
entire journey is a struggle to survive, as soon after, he is left for dead by the two
men who are left to look after him. The unnamed man s struggle while not as
monumental is still every bit as much a fight for survival. He falls through a thin
patch of ice into the water and must fight to build a fire to survive. Both men show a
large amount of resilience, in their fight to survive. The unnamed man

geographic coordinates are 33 00 N, 65 00 E. Afghanistan s neighboring countries
include India, Pakistan, Iran and, China (about.com). Afghanistan has 647,500 square
kilometers of area and since it is surrounded by land, it has no water area. Afghanistan
is a relatively small country. For example, it is roughly the size of Texas.
Afghanistan has cold winters and hot summers. The warm season begins in May and

One paradigm of this is that a higher birth rate represents a lower level of literacy.
The highest point in Afghanistan is Nowshak, which is 7,485m above ground level.
The lowest level at 258m is Amu Darya. Afghanistan s location provides it with a
multitude of natural resources. The natural resources include gas, petroleum, coal,
copper, barites, sulfur, iron, salt, ore, zinc, and talc.
CULTURE
Afghan society is very complex, and Afghanistan has a very complex culture. Part of
the reason it has remained unknown is because of this complexity (Mohsen
Makhmalbaf)
The official languages of Afghanistan are Dari and Pashto but as shown by the image
several languages are spoken.
The main religion is Islam and it is practiced by a majority of the population. Although
there are small Sikh, Hindu, and Jewish communities over 99% of the population is
Muslim. Muslims are either Shia or Sunni, however a majority in Afghanistan are
Sunni Muslim.
Islam is an Abrahamic religion put together through the Islamic holy book that is
known as the Qur an. The God that the followers believe in is known as Allah. An
adherent of Allah is known as a Muslim (The Free Dictionary). Muslims believe that
the purpose of life is to worship God.

The Individual And Cultural Identity
The Individual and Cultural Identity as Viewed through the art work of Matika
Wilbur and Rebecca Belmore Fringe. Cultural and individual identity is one of the
themes that have been highly focused by artists. Regarding cultural identity is as a
positive value is very important for the coexistence of people. Cultural identity helps
us to understand that an integration of ethnicity race and culture can create a
multicultural society that is beneficial to everybody. When people come to accept
themselves and the diversity of others, this liberates the society from issues like
prejudice, inequality and discrimination. Our values are embodied in our cultural
practices and this is what creates the individual and societal sense of cultural... Show

Some of the photos from the project have been exhibited at Tacoma Art Museum as
well as some documented dialogues with the volunteers (Blalock p 85). The pictures
are meant to show the richness in culture and diversity of the Native Americans that
Americans have not seen. In the project, every subject is asked questions about
their family as well as future and this brings in the issue of identity. Many people in
the photos wear their traditional clothes and also take photos in places that have
some connection to their history or origin. This shows cultural identity. Taking part
in this project gave Native Americans the opportunity to showcase what it means to
be a Native American. In the wake of loss of identity through assimilation, this
project aims at making the idea of identity to move from generation to generation
and preserve identity of Native Americans for future generations. Project 562 has
been very effective in updating the Americans views on the Native Americans (Smith
p 221). This project is also helping people who have dual cultural identities realize
who they are enabling people to retain their cultural identity while embracing
modernity. Matika Wilbur came up with her project in order to change the
stereotypes that have been projected by the media about Native Americans and show
the beauty in the lives of these people while helping to change the public opinion
about such people.
The Intern Analysis
Nancy Meyers is a director, writer, and producer, with lots of famous movies such
as Something s Gotta Give (2003), The Holiday (2006), It s Complicated (2009) to
her credit. Her movies are usually romance comedy like. Of course with her movie
The Intern, one would not help but feel it would follow same romance comedy
style just like its predecessors. Ah ha! You are absolutely wrong as it doesn t only
portray its usual features, but it has been created to correct certain societal
misconceptions on baby boomers and successful women. It talks about a powerful
and successful woman who finds it quite difficult handling her professional life and
family at the same time, it also tries to correct certain societal misconceptions on
baby boomers. One of its main characters Ben Whittaker (who is played by Robert
DeNiro) a 70 year old baby boomer, plays an exceptional rule in this movie to
demonstrate the need to remain humble and kind to society despite its discrimination.
As the movie progresses, Ben uses his previous work experiences, ideas and past life
experiences to guide Jules.
Like a demographics whitepaper come to life, The Intern throws two of
contemporary America s biggest social forces against one another: rapidly retiring
boomers, in the form of 70 year old intern Robert De Niro who plays the role of Ben,
and tech savvy, in the form of his harried, early 30s boss Anne Hathaway (Jules). Ben
is retired, he s widow, he s been trying to fill his days with a myriad of
Moral Code And Standards For Improving Individual
Behavior
I grew up without a mother and father and did not have moral principles instilled in
me to help develop my moral code and standards for maximizing my utility in life.
For example, some children are taught to show respect to parents, teachers, and elders.
Respecting parents, teachers, elders, and other people within society can help to
enhance relationships. The better the relationship, the better coexistence between
people. Good moral principles allows a person to make the right decisions and
improve their interactions with other people. These principles can help in improving
individual behavior, inspiring respect, and enriching relationships of others.
With that being said, life is important and guiding values and principles help ... Show

This appears to make perfect sense for most, but the Marines stress the 75%
solution to help rapidly make decisions. In other words, you are to do your best to
gather as much information as you can until you have approximately seventy five
percent of the data and facts. Then, use your knowledge, skill, and perception to
fill in the remaining twenty five percent. The Marines view is that it is always
better to make a decision and execute aggressively with partial information, than it
is to wait and make a perfect decision that may be too late and lead to undesirable
results. You are taught to rapidly estimate a situation and make a solid decision
based on that estimation. There is no room for reluctance to make a decision. If
there is reluctance, then you revise it. The rapid decision making process has taught
me to not be afraid to make a decision and learn from my mistakes and to respect the
leader who corrects mistakes immediately and owns up to it.
The second principle that I acquired from the Marines was the spirit of determination
and commitment. In the Marines, you will endure and sacrifice for your fellow Marine
. It certainly was not fun to work your butt off to only pay for someone else s
mistake. It is easy to complain, but instead, you go help the weaker Marine in your
unit and teach them how to become faster and grow stronger. Marines that complain
are thinking about themselves and their own welfare. As a Marine, you are
Cons Of Genetic Engineering
Food, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and insect control are among a few of the different
avenues of Genetic Engineering (GE). One sad truth associated with genetic
engineering is the lack of adequate testing to assure the health and well being of
society and the environment. The companies that hold the GE patents and our
government seem to more concerned with profits, than that of human life and the
effects on the environment. In this day and age, illnesses and other forms of aliments
of our society are multiplying at alarming rates. Drug manufactures, in such a hurry to
get their latest drugs to market, little, if any, testing is being done to assure that the
drugs themselves are safe for human consumption. The risks of GE unknowns, far...

Any severe environmental stress such as drought and global warming can trigger
unpredictable changes to engineered crops. It is this combination of
unpredictability and ignorance that led Dr. Barry Commoner, one of our nation s
most eminent biologists, to conclude: The genetically engineered crops now being
grown represent a massive uncontrolled experiment whose outcome is inherently
unpredictable. The results could be catastrophic. (Commoner) Allergies are often
overlooked, especially when weighed against the potential benefits of a new drug.
Yet they affect a large number of people (about 2.5% of American adults and 6 8%
of children, or 8 million in the U.S.), and the incidence of allergies has been rising
in recent years for unknown reasons. Reactions are not limited to watery eyes; some
experience intense itching and welts, others life threatening anaphylactic shock,
which kills an estimated 150 Americans each year. If a plant grown drug with
allergenic properties were to contaminate the food supply, unsuspecting individuals
prone to allergies would be unable to take any action to avoid consuming the
contaminated food, with potentially fatal consequences. People susceptible to food
allergies, without proper labeling have no knowledge of what they are actually
consuming; therefore, they could possibly be endangering their lives by eating foods
that they are highly allergic to. The Federal Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (1966),

Relative Dating Analysis
An enormous amount of planning and research go into the excavation of an
archaeological site. Before any kind of digging can take place, an initial survey of
the area of interest must be completed. Once it has been confirmed that there are
indeed fossil beds present, months of careful strategizing follow before ground is
finally broken. After the real digging begins, the painstaking process of unearthing
and meticulously cataloging artifacts that are found ensues. All of this must take
place before the laborious process of analyzing and then dating these newfound
artifacts can happen. From this point, archaeologists are able to begin the fascinating,
and often times difficult journey to discover an artifact s age. Although this process
can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As time passes, the radioactive isotopes in geological substances begin to break
down and form new isotopes (Lewis, et al., 2013). Using the modern knowledge of
the rate of decay, scientists are able to ascertain the period of time that an artifact
has been decaying, and then calculate an estimate for its age. The potassium argon
method is a great example of accurate dating. The decay of potassium in geologic
substances creates argon gas over time, creating certain proportions of argon gas to
potassium (Lewis, et al., 2013). When scientists reheat these rocks, they can measure
the amount of argon gas that is released and form an accurate guess as to when the
rock was formed (Lewis, et al.,
October Crisis Essay
Significance of the October Crisis
From the overthrowing of the Russian Tsar to the exile of the Nationalists, the world
has been in a state where radical movements have been the main focus of citizens,
even in democratic societies. The October Crisis was one of these extraordinary
events that had occurred. It was a period of international and national revolutionary
movements that used violent acts against constitutional measures. The 1970 October
Crisis was a pivotal moment that had an undeniable and lasting impact on Canadians
as it revealed the wisdom of Trudeau s decision to enact the War Measures Act,
demonstrated that the FLQ (a left winged terrorist organization) was not a good
representative of the French Canadians, and it ... Show more content on

For some time, many Quebecois had faith in the FLQ, believing the group would
speed the process of separation from Canada; however the FLQ s loyalty to these
beliefs is questionable. Ultimately, it was perceived that the FLQ s only goal was to
give Quebec its justice; they wanted to see them united in a free society. On the
other hand, during the October Crisis, they had not been able to prove that. When
the FLQ kidnapped British diplomat James Cross, it publicized 7 demands, of
which only one concerned French Canadians, pertaining to fairer working
conditions which was later dropped (Tetley, 2007). The rest concerned the FLQ
themselves: publication of the Manifesto (a public declaration of policy and aims),
the name of an informer, $500,000 in gold, the release of 23 jailed terrorists, and to
transport them to either Algeria or Cuba (Knowlton, 1990). A goal of Quebec s at
the time, the protection of the French language, was a cause that preoccupied much
of the nation, but was not a particular concern for the FLQ. In fact, the 1970
Manifesto was written in and proclaimed in informal French and Fringlish
(Knowlton, 1990). The FLQ s dedication to their cause is doubtful. FLQ believed that
they weren t going to get caught, hence their slogan Independence or death (Brown,
2011). However, when justice prevailed, the members chose exile rather than
martyrdom. This made it clear that the FLQ s dedication

Frankenstein Isolation Essay.pdf

  • 1. Frankenstein Isolation Essay Crafting an essay on the theme of "Frankenstein Isolation" can be a challenging endeavor. The intricacies of Mary Shelley's classic novel demand a deep understanding of the text, its historical context, and the psychological nuances embedded in the theme of isolation. Firstly, one must delve into the layers of Victor Frankenstein's solitude as he grapples with the consequences of his scientific pursuits. Analyzing the protagonist's emotional and intellectual isolation involves a meticulous examination of Shelley's narrative choices and character development. Understanding how Victor's isolation intersects with themes of ambition, responsibility, and the human condition adds another layer of complexity to the task. Additionally, exploring the isolation of the Creature in "Frankenstein" requires a nuanced approach. The monster's alienation from society and the heartbreaking quest for companionship provide rich material for analysis. Unraveling the psychological impact of societal rejection on the Creature, and its implications for Shelley's commentary on humanity, requires a keen interpretative lens. Furthermore, to create a compelling essay, it's essential to situate the theme of isolation within the broader literary and historical context. Discussing the Romantic era, Shelley's personal experiences, and the societal anxieties of the time enriches the analysis, offering a more comprehensive understanding of the novel's thematic depth. In essence, composing a meaningful essay on "Frankenstein Isolation" demands a synthesis of literary analysis, historical contextualization, and a profound appreciation for the complexities of human emotions. Navigating through the intricacies of Shelley's narrative requires a thoughtful and analytical approach to capture the essence of isolation as a central motif. • 2. Public Defender Case Summary We have read in the news recently that there are plenty of public defenders who are facing budget cuts and are in a financial crisis. This can be seen by a chief public defender in New Orleans who has had to resort to turning clients away. The public defender s office in New Orleans is understaffed, currently employing 42 overworked lawyers, in relation to the 72 attorneys and 20 investigators it employed in 2008. These go against the standard set by the ABA Standards for Criminal Justice and the ABA Guidelines for the Appointment and Performance of Counsel in Death Penalty Cases. • 3. Taking a Look at Kingdom Animalia Animals share certain characteristics such as being heterotrophs, multicellular, no presence of cell walls, and many more. Animals can further be divided through the use of a phylogeny, which is an evolutionary tree. A phylogeny shows patterns of relationships between several different types of species. When branching off to dissimilar species, characteristics are taken accounted for whether they are derived, ancestral, or shared traits. Traits include symmetry, tissues, segmentation, body cavities, and patterns that deal with the development of embryos. The kingdom Animalia breaks down to two subkingdoms, Parazoa and Eumetazoa. Parazoa include organisms, such as sponges, who most members lack symmetry, but are multicellular to help circulate water and reproduce. Eumetazoa separates from Parazoa by symmetry and definite shape therefore, anything that branches off from Eumetazoa consist of these characteristics. Eumetazoa, or true animals , further divides among protostomes and deuterostomes (Telford, 2009). Protostomes and deuterostomes differentiate by the embryonic development and how the zygote goes through mitotic divisions, known as cleavage, and so on (Raven et al., 2014). Bilaterally symmetrical animals have two dissimilar types of development. Therefore because some protostomes are not bilaterally symmetrical, protostomes broke down to two different classes, one class being Spiralian protostomes who undergo spiral cleavage in embryonic development. Spiral

I m going to leave you here, only for a few moments...and if you stay absolutely silent and don t make a sound until I get back, then you ll be the winner. Eve hesitated, starting to see what her mother was really getting at. You ll be gone? Only for the shortest while. Her mother hooked their pinkies together. I promise. Can you be brave and stay as quiet as you can for that long? Will I win something if I do? Of course you will. It s a very special present, and it will be all yours. Eve had already been promised two of those within the last few hours, and now a third was being added. She stared into her mother s deep brown eyes, wishing she could be as brave as she was. O...O Okay... she said. Her mother s smile grew ever warmer. You re a sweetheart, she said, planting a kiss on her daughter s forehead and gently stroking her hair. I promise...I ll be back soon. She climbed to her feet and moved back toward the outskirts of their tiny shelter; just before departing, she turned back. Remember...be as silent as possible. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lighting is used multiple times throughout the film to support the theme of friendship. The first example of lighting is present in the opening scenes of the movie. As Bruno and his friends are playfully running through the streets of Berlin, the sun is shining and the picture is bright. In contrast, Bruno s home when he finds out that his family is moving is dark and gloomy. Once again, the director uses the lighting to display Bruno s emotions. When Bruno is with his friends, the shining light indicates his happiness. However, when Bruno discovers that he is leaving his friends, the dark lighting displays Bruno s dismal feeling. Similarly, the same concepts are used in the later stages of the film. As Bruno wanders into the backyard, he finds the shed with a window, a possible route to the farm . As Bruno looks up at the window, the light shining through the open window is vibrant. This bright light represents Bruno s escape from this place without friends to the farm where friendship surely awaits him. Finally, the director uses lighting in scenes with both Bruno and Shmuel to show their friendship. In scenes where Bruno and Shmuel are together, the lighting is bright, once again representing the friendship between the two, along with Bruno s happiness in this friendship. However, in the closing scenes of the movie, the lighting while Bruno and Shmuel are together becomes

(Forty per cent of the seats at all Live Nation concerts go unsold.) It is used by the government, politicians, News Sites, Commercials/Ads, Churches, Cults, etc. A person who is brainwashed usually knows who their enemy is, a person under mind control has no idea they are being controlled. There are many different techniques and strategies used on a brainwashed victim. In advertisingfor instance, they use repetition, repeating a phrase, word, sound, or idea to a potential customer. The content and tenor of the Gospel relates to Jewish ideals and values, which lead to the belief that Matthew s audience had a large Jewish population. His designations of the person of Jesus are designed to appeal to a Jewish audience. His main goal was to divert the Jews perception from Jesus being a false Messiah but rather their long awaited Messiah. Also he tries to prove to them that the Jewish prophecies had been fulfilled in Jesus; by refuting other Jewish leaders and their different views and practices . Furthermore, great competition between Matthews audiences formed because of Jesus, thus caused Matthew s plot to solely focus on conflict. This is because Matthew is engaged in some sort of polemic against the Jewish authorities. This is exemplified through the groups signified by the Pharisees, with Jesus speaking about the incompetence of the Pharisees, their influence and their actions. It is evident that Matthew s audiences were confused because Matthew brings forth a different point of view from what they are accustomed too, through his attempt of proving to them that Jesus is the Messiah. In order for one to understand the opposing viewpoints within this era, Matthew s readers need to have a thorough understanding of what the Jews perceived the Messiah to be and the criterion the Messiah had to fulfill. The term Messiah was derived from the Hebrew Mashiach, which means the anointed one, and refers to the ancient practice of

We would expect these heroes to be everything great about man and not suffer any of the same things that the other mortals experience. But Homer s heroes cry and they don t just cry, they weep. • 23. `` Please Fire Me `` By Deborah Garrison Essay Women have long been fighting for their right to be seen as equal to men. Even to this day, women continue to fight for their rights, things such as the right to non gender discriminatory wages. While there may be some arguments over the state of gender equality in the modern world, it is undeniable that there have been great strides made toward recognizing the females worth in the workforce and as a human being. Despite these strides, however, things are still not yet ideal for women and many of the issues females face today are the very same issues that have been plaguing them for decades. While it is unfortunate the oppression of women has been so long lived, the length of that exposure has thankfully enabled many talented writers to both lament over the fact and emphasize the need for genderequality. Deborah Garrison s 1998 poem, Please Fire Me, opens by describing animals engaged in causing some sort of commotion. From the opening lines describing alpha males (Garrison 761, lines 1 4), the reader can identify that the scenario that is being described is controlled by the male presence. Garrison then describes nearby hens which are described as having quivering claws (762, line 7), showing fear and intimidation as they discuss the alpha males activity. The third stanza in the poem is the first to give the reader the information about what is actually being described. Another alpha male joins the pack, but is then described as a man s man who can hold

When his home state seceded in April 1861, the Virginian once again took up the sword this time as a captain in the 9th Virginia Cavalry, attached to what would ultimately become his father s command, the Army of Northern Virginia. In his year of service with the regiment, Lee took an active part in the Seven Days Battles, and the Second Manassas and Maryland Campaigns, ascending to the colonelcy of the regiment along the way. When the Army of Northern Virginiareorganized its mounted arm in November 1862, Rooney Lee was given charge of a brigade and promoted to brigadier general. Limited cavalry operations at the end of 1862 and in the spring of 1863 gave Lee little chance to test his mettle as a brigadier. However, on the morning of June 9, 1863, Lee, then camped near Brandy Station, Virginia, heard firing in the direction of the Rappahannock River at Beverly s Ford. Riding to the sound of the guns, the general organized a defensive position, taking advantage of the terrain and a low stone wall. For five hours Lee s cavaliers fought off repeated assaults by Union cavalry under General John Buford, effectively stalling the Federal advance and exacting a fearsome toll in casualties. With value innovation it doesn t mean that a company develops or creates new goods or services. The goal of value innovation is to create new demands in efforts to change the market as well as make competitors irrelevant. Value innovation can improve existing services as well as lower the cost for the company and their customers. The Blue Ocean Strategy is a strategy that companies use as an opportunity for quick profitable growth. It focuses on those markets within the same industry that have not been in existence; therefore, competition is not an issue. The key elements of the Blue Ocean Strategy are: value proposition, profit proposition, and people proposition; however, if one of these propositions is not addressed properly, then it causes an imbalance in an effort to execute the strategy. The Physics Of The Atomic Theory In chemistry, it has been stated that atoms are the basic building blocks of ordinary matter that contain protons, neutrons, electrons, and can join to form molecules. (Gagnon) Atoms are really tiny and are considered the source of nuclear energy in all kinds of matter. The atomic theory became a very important piece in chemistry because it explained the atomic structure and how it worked. Important scientists that helped contribute to this theory were people like John Dalton and J.J. Thompson which helped establish a foundation to the theory, as well as create experiments that helped provide evidence of their findings. John Dalton was an important scientist that established the atomic theory. His theory was as follows: 1.All matter is made of atoms. Atoms are invisible and indestructible. 2. All atoms of given elements are identical in mass and properties. 3. Compounds are formed by a combination of 2 or more different kinds of atoms. 4. A chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms. 5. Atoms cannot be created or destroyed. (Leon) Dalton brought up this information while using his gas experiments and it helped him determine the properties of atoms. Although Democritus had somewhat already had a theory on matter, Dalton explored and expanded the theory into what it is today. Dalton was inspired and borrowed the term atomos or atoms from Democritus to label his particles. (Leon) Dalton also created the first chart of atomic weights and introduced his belief that atoms

This could set a precedent that Galileo wanted to cause uproar by going so far to the extreme that the nobles and the Church would take a serious look into his findings, when he may have exaggerated certain points. One of Galileo s main issues was the purpose of scripture with regards to interpretation. Galileo makes the argument that Scripture cannot be wrong but it is up to the interpretation of it. For example, he stated, Though the scripture cannot err, nevertheless some of its interpreters and expositors can sometimes err in various ways . Furthermore he states that if we were to take the literal meaning of what the scripture states we would be personifying God by giving him human characteristics of a body and emotions. In essence the literal interpretation would give God the right to make mistakes, which of course would not be accepted by anyone in the church. Galileo did have a basis for his argument on the relation of the interpretation of scripture with regards to science. One of the main points he makes is that astronomers cannot agree on how to accurately measure the tropical year . Copernicus
  • 37. A Major Measure Of Biological Fitness A major measure of biological fitness in a population is the fecundity, or reproductive success rate, of female organisms (Berger et al, 2008). For insects in particular many factors influence the number of eggs produced during the lifetime of a female. One key factor in insect reproduction is the ambient environmental temperature. Insects are ectothermic and therefore rely on their environment to provide the heat needed to carry out normal reproductive functions. Ambient heat dependence for insects has been thought to have a greater effect on fertility success than other contributing factors such as increased female body size. Studies by Berger and others have shown that the European speckled wood butterfly, Pararge aegeria, can only reproduce in the temperature range of 8В°C and 14 В°C even when controlling for larger female body sizes. The findings of the study suggest that temperature can limit insectreproduction in two specific ways. First, the development of the egg may be inhibited by temperature ranges that are outside the preferred range of the insect. Second, the female s range of time she is able to lay eggs is reduced when the temperature of the immediate environment is not conducive to the survival of her offspring (Berger et al, 2008). Thus, temperature is a paramount factor when considering the success rate of many insect species. Other studies have shown the importance of temperature on reproductive success of certain insects and the implications that

The commander of the Nautilus is brilliantly mysterious, and a sinister character who still shows signs of sorrow. He seems to be at war with humanity, yet gives back to the poor. The name Nemo means no one in latin, which only increases the uncertainty surrounding the captain. Captain Nemofirst describes himself by saying I am not what you call a civilised man! I [am] done with society entirely, for reasons which I alone have the right of appreciating. I do not... obey its laws, and I desire you never to allude to them before me again! (Verne, 57). The outright anger displayed by Nemo alludes to his hatred of society, and sheds light on the reasoning of his self imposed exile. Nemo s efforts to separate himself and his men from society is shown in the burial process for his dead crew members. Looking at these stories from as simple a point of view as just plot, the reader or viewer, would miss the undeniable similarities that these two stories share. These stories share three main similarities which are, the main characters fight for survival, the setting in which the story takes place, and the use of symbolism included in the story. In both stories the main characters face an unbelievable challenge of trying to survive an incredible struggle. The natural resources include gas, petroleum, coal, copper, barites, sulfur, iron, salt, ore, zinc, and talc. CULTURE Afghan society is very complex, and Afghanistan has a very complex culture. Part of the reason it has remained unknown is because of this complexity (Mohsen Makhmalbaf) The official languages of Afghanistan are Dari and Pashto but as shown by the image several languages are spoken. The main religion is Islam and it is practiced by a majority of the population. Although there are small Sikh, Hindu, and Jewish communities over 99% of the population is Muslim. • 46. The Individual And Cultural Identity The Individual and Cultural Identity as Viewed through the art work of Matika Wilbur and Rebecca Belmore Fringe. Cultural and individual identity is one of the themes that have been highly focused by artists. Regarding cultural identity is as a positive value is very important for the coexistence of people. Cultural identity helps us to understand that an integration of ethnicity race and culture can create a multicultural society that is beneficial to everybody. When people come to accept themselves and the diversity of others, this liberates the society from issues like prejudice, inequality and discrimination. Our values are embodied in our cultural practices and this is what creates the individual and societal sense of cultural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the photos from the project have been exhibited at Tacoma Art Museum as well as some documented dialogues with the volunteers (Blalock p 85). The pictures are meant to show the richness in culture and diversity of the Native Americans that Americans have not seen. In the project, every subject is asked questions about their family as well as future and this brings in the issue of identity. Many people in the photos wear their traditional clothes and also take photos in places that have some connection to their history or origin. This shows cultural identity. Taking part in this project gave Native Americans the opportunity to showcase what it means to be a Native American. In the wake of loss of identity through assimilation, this project aims at making the idea of identity to move from generation to generation and preserve identity of Native Americans for future generations. Project 562 has been very effective in updating the Americans views on the Native Americans (Smith p 221). This project is also helping people who have dual cultural identities realize who they are enabling people to retain their cultural identity while embracing modernity. Matika Wilbur came up with her project in order to change the stereotypes that have been projected by the media about Native Americans and show the beauty in the lives of these people while helping to change the public opinion about such people.
  • 47. The Intern Analysis Nancy Meyers is a director, writer, and producer, with lots of famous movies such as Something s Gotta Give (2003), The Holiday (2006), It s Complicated (2009) to her credit. Her movies are usually romance comedy like. Of course with her movie The Intern, one would not help but feel it would follow same romance comedy style just like its predecessors. Ah ha! You are absolutely wrong as it doesn t only portray its usual features, but it has been created to correct certain societal misconceptions on baby boomers and successful women. It talks about a powerful and successful woman who finds it quite difficult handling her professional life and family at the same time, it also tries to correct certain societal misconceptions on baby boomers. One of its main characters Ben Whittaker (who is played by Robert DeNiro) a 70 year old baby boomer, plays an exceptional rule in this movie to demonstrate the need to remain humble and kind to society despite its discrimination. As the movie progresses, Ben uses his previous work experiences, ideas and past life experiences to guide Jules. Like a demographics whitepaper come to life, The Intern throws two of contemporary America s biggest social forces against one another: rapidly retiring boomers, in the form of 70 year old intern Robert De Niro who plays the role of Ben, and tech savvy, in the form of his harried, early 30s boss Anne Hathaway (Jules). Ben is retired, he s widow, he s been trying to fill his days with a myriad of
  • 48. Moral Code And Standards For Improving Individual Behavior I grew up without a mother and father and did not have moral principles instilled in me to help develop my moral code and standards for maximizing my utility in life. For example, some children are taught to show respect to parents, teachers, and elders. Respecting parents, teachers, elders, and other people within society can help to enhance relationships. The better the relationship, the better coexistence between people. Good moral principles allows a person to make the right decisions and improve their interactions with other people. These principles can help in improving individual behavior, inspiring respect, and enriching relationships of others. With that being said, life is important and guiding values and principles help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This appears to make perfect sense for most, but the Marines stress the 75% solution to help rapidly make decisions. In other words, you are to do your best to gather as much information as you can until you have approximately seventy five percent of the data and facts. Then, use your knowledge, skill, and perception to fill in the remaining twenty five percent. The Marines view is that it is always better to make a decision and execute aggressively with partial information, than it is to wait and make a perfect decision that may be too late and lead to undesirable results. You are taught to rapidly estimate a situation and make a solid decision based on that estimation. There is no room for reluctance to make a decision. If there is reluctance, then you revise it. The rapid decision making process has taught me to not be afraid to make a decision and learn from my mistakes and to respect the leader who corrects mistakes immediately and owns up to it. The second principle that I acquired from the Marines was the spirit of determination and commitment. In the Marines, you will endure and sacrifice for your fellow Marine . It certainly was not fun to work your butt off to only pay for someone else s mistake. It is easy to complain, but instead, you go help the weaker Marine in your unit and teach them how to become faster and grow stronger. Marines that complain are thinking about themselves and their own welfare. As a Marine, you are
  • 49. Cons Of Genetic Engineering Food, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and insect control are among a few of the different avenues of Genetic Engineering (GE). One sad truth associated with genetic engineering is the lack of adequate testing to assure the health and well being of society and the environment. The companies that hold the GE patents and our government seem to more concerned with profits, than that of human life and the effects on the environment. In this day and age, illnesses and other forms of aliments of our society are multiplying at alarming rates. Drug manufactures, in such a hurry to get their latest drugs to market, little, if any, testing is being done to assure that the drugs themselves are safe for human consumption. The risks of GE unknowns, far... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any severe environmental stress such as drought and global warming can trigger unpredictable changes to engineered crops. It is this combination of unpredictability and ignorance that led Dr. Barry Commoner, one of our nation s most eminent biologists, to conclude: The genetically engineered crops now being grown represent a massive uncontrolled experiment whose outcome is inherently unpredictable. The results could be catastrophic. (Commoner) Allergies are often overlooked, especially when weighed against the potential benefits of a new drug. Yet they affect a large number of people (about 2.5% of American adults and 6 8% of children, or 8 million in the U.S.), and the incidence of allergies has been rising in recent years for unknown reasons. Reactions are not limited to watery eyes; some experience intense itching and welts, others life threatening anaphylactic shock, which kills an estimated 150 Americans each year. If a plant grown drug with allergenic properties were to contaminate the food supply, unsuspecting individuals prone to allergies would be unable to take any action to avoid consuming the contaminated food, with potentially fatal consequences. People susceptible to food allergies, without proper labeling have no knowledge of what they are actually consuming; therefore, they could possibly be endangering their lives by eating foods that they are highly allergic to. The Federal Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (1966), for

Before any kind of digging can take place, an initial survey of the area of interest must be completed. Once it has been confirmed that there are indeed fossil beds present, months of careful strategizing follow before ground is finally broken. After the real digging begins, the painstaking process of unearthing and meticulously cataloging artifacts that are found ensues. All of this must take place before the laborious process of analyzing and then dating these newfound artifacts can happen. From this point, archaeologists are able to begin the fascinating, and often times difficult journey to discover an artifact s age. Although this process can... Using the modern knowledge of the rate of decay, scientists are able to ascertain the period of time that an artifact has been decaying, and then calculate an estimate for its age. The potassium argon method is a great example of accurate dating. The decay of potassium in geologic substances creates argon gas over time, creating certain proportions of argon gas to potassium (Lewis, et al., 2013). When scientists reheat these rocks, they can measure the amount of argon gas that is released and form an accurate guess as to when the rock was formed (Lewis, et al.,
  • 51. October Crisis Essay Significance of the October Crisis From the overthrowing of the Russian Tsar to the exile of the Nationalists, the world has been in a state where radical movements have been the main focus of citizens, even in democratic societies. The October Crisis was one of these extraordinary events that had occurred. It was a period of international and national revolutionary movements that used violent acts against constitutional measures. The 1970 October Crisis was a pivotal moment that had an undeniable and lasting impact on Canadians as it revealed the wisdom of Trudeau s decision to enact the War Measures Act, demonstrated that the FLQ (a left winged terrorist organization) was not a good representative of the French Canadians, and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For some time, many Quebecois had faith in the FLQ, believing the group would speed the process of separation from Canada; however the FLQ s loyalty to these beliefs is questionable. Ultimately, it was perceived that the FLQ s only goal was to give Quebec its justice; they wanted to see them united in a free society. On the other hand, during the October Crisis, they had not been able to prove that. When the FLQ kidnapped British diplomat James Cross, it publicized 7 demands, of which only one concerned French Canadians, pertaining to fairer working conditions which was later dropped (Tetley, 2007). The rest concerned the FLQ themselves: publication of the Manifesto (a public declaration of policy and aims), the name of an informer, $500,000 in gold, the release of 23 jailed terrorists, and to transport them to either Algeria or Cuba (Knowlton, 1990). A goal of Quebec s at the time, the protection of the French language, was a cause that preoccupied much of the nation, but was not a particular concern for the FLQ. In fact, the 1970 Manifesto was written in and proclaimed in informal French and Fringlish (Knowlton, 1990). The FLQ s dedication to their cause is doubtful. FLQ believed that they weren t going to get caught, hence their slogan Independence or death (Brown, 2011). However, when justice prevailed, the members chose exile rather than martyrdom. This made it clear that the FLQ s dedication
