Kate Welch
A passionate and inspiring social entrepreneur with a track record in employment and enterprise activities in regeneration areas, a catalyst for partnership working, and community involvement. Kate is recognised at regional national and international level as a leader of social and economic support services with a reputation for innovative work in supporting social enterprises and developing the sector. It was in recognition of this contribution that Kate was awarded an OBE in the 2008 New Year Honours for services to Social Enterprise in North East England and a Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion in April 2016. Ms Jessi Fu started an international coffee business with her graduate school classmates, drawing on her experience of working for an airline. From a small office with five or six partners, the business has grown an operation comprising three physical stores and seven schools. During his tenure, he had been committed to various air pollution reduction measures, and promoted various tightened standards, total control, pollution reduction in the port area, and increased subsidies for replacement of old and high-pollution vehicles, etc. In terms of water quality management, Cai strengthened inspection and control to reduce environmental water pollution, revitalized polluted land, and promoted green remediation technologies. For environmental sanitation, Cai reinforced waste reduction and resource recycling and promoted environmental education and other multi-pronged measures. Counselor Cai is an expert in environmental protection. In the past, he led the Environmental Protection Bureau staff to improve the environmental quality of Kaohsiung City, which was proven to be one of the best performing bureaus in Taiwan in the field of environmental protection. Cai will continue to contribute his environmental expertise, assist in the municipal administration, and provide professional advice in the future as an important aide to the mayor, in order to improve the environmental quality in Kaohsiung and create a green and fresh harbor city.
Ching Fu Chen
Professor Ching-Fu Chen, PhD.is the Department Chair of Department of Transportation and Communication Management Science, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. He served as the director-general of Transport bureau, Kaohsiung City Government (KCG), Taiwan from 2013.2 to 2018.7. During his term at KCG, he successfully carried out the privatization project of the city-own Bus Administration of Kaohsiung city in 2013 and subsequently a series of bus reform strategies. In close collaboration with ICLEI, he is currently leading the project ‘2017 Ecomobility World Festival’ which will take place at Kaohsiung in October, 2017.
Dr. Chen has been in academia for two decades as a professor of transport management at Nan-Hua University and National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. His research concerns urban mobility, transport economic analysis, and tourism management. He received outstanding research award from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Taiwan and has published a number publications in main-stream academic journals such as Transportation Research Part A, Transportation Research Part F, Accident Analysis and Prevention, Journal of Travel Research and Tourism Management, etc.
Victorino Aquitania
As Regional Director of ICLEI Southeast Asia Secretariat, he has more than 28 years professional experience working with local governments on sustainable urban development, climate adaptation and mitigation, Local Agenda 21, waste management, as well as sustainable urban transport policies. During his career he has been involved in more than 30 international projects, including several research activities. Dr. Wang Hao holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Cologne, Germany and is currently the Director of the Research Institute of Social Enterprise of Feng Chia University. After the 921 Earthquake, he submitted an article to the Der Spiegel Weekly in Germany, which kicked off his advocacy for social innovation and corporate responsibility in the next 20 years. Wang served as an EMBA supervisor, Consultant at the Credit Union League and the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, Director of B Corporation, and a team leader at a Youth Development Administration’s international group and a social enterprise delegation to Germany. Wang participated in and hosted the APEC Renewable Energy Innovation Project Competition. He believes that interdisciplinary learning to be the key to social innovation. Wang mentioned the happiest experience in his life as hiking the Peruvian plateau to interview Inca herders, for purpose of conducting a series of social enterprise MOOCs sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
Corey Lian
Mr. Lian, Tingkai is an active serial entrepreneur. From medical and pharmaceutical to fashion industries, Lian has always held a macro perspective on social and business issues. Recognizing that everyone must act to defend the environment and fight climate change, Lian founded "DOMI " to provide easy and effective energy saving solutions, and promote social justice in combating the impact of climate change. DOMI was the first business in Taiwan being awarded the international certification of B Corporation. In 2015, 2016 and 2018, DOMI was listed as one of the best companies in the world by the international headquarters of B Corporation, and has consecutively won the "Best Company in the World” award. Recognizing the urgent needs to turn around the business mentality of Taiwanese enterprises, Lian co-founded the Asia Pacific B Corp Association (APBCA) and started the B Lab Taiwan.Before Lian returned to Taiwan, he majored in biotechnology at the University of Alberta, Canada, took the Chiropractic Program at the Life University in Atlanta, USA, and studied fashion management at Domus Academy in Milan, Italy. He was invited to teach as a part-time assistant professor at the Public Policy Research Center in Feng Chia University and Fu Jen Catholic University. He also teaches social innovation and UN-SDGS courses at National Taiwan University.
Gerry Higgins
Gerry is Managing Director of Social Enterprise World Forum and Director or International Enterprise at Community Enterprise in Scotland (CEIS). These dual roles were created in January 2019 as Social Enterprise World Forum required more capacity to support its ambitious programme to build a global social enterprise movement and after 13 years as CEO of CEIS, Gerry wanted to focus on the international dimensions of social enterprise in Scotland. Gerry is also a Director at Social Value Lab, CEIS Ayrshire, DSL Business Finance, Social Enterprise UK and Societi. Joe is the co-organizer of Citypreneurs, an SDGs startup competition hosted by UN agencies and city governments. He currently serves as the Senior Partnerships and Innovation Officer at the World Federation of UN Associations, and teaches on problem solving, impact business models, creative thinking and sustainable development for startups, corporations and universities. He is an adjunct professor at Yonsei University, and serves on the innovation advisory board for various public and private companies.

Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power.
