2. Banquo Alternate Ending
Veronica walked into the kitchen, fresh, clean, and free from the dream of earlier. She wore
only a casual outfit of jeans and camisole top. No need to dress up if she had the evening off. She
brewed a pot of extremely strong coffee and ate a slice of dry toast as she waited. She never was
a huge breakfast eater. She saw an open box of cereal with loose cereal pieces on the counter.
She rolled her eyes as she cleaned up the mess and put the box away. The open box was one of
her biggest pet peeves. Looks like Brayden had breakfast, she thought. He was a good kid, but
messy. She supposed most kids were. She d have to have a talk with him about it. Her cat, a black
Bombay named Banquo, came purring past her legs, entwining in and out. Veronica bent and
picked him up, kissing his nose. It s unfair, isn t it, Banquo? Why are they so mean to mama? ...

3. Symbols In The Fall Of The House Of Usher
The house is alive. It possesses its own malign will. (Bailey) A house can hold a slew of
symbolic meanings. It may represent an ancient family line and it may also be a physical
structure. Usually, it s referred to as a habitable place, warm, safe and comforting. Home, sweet,
home. Yet, there are times in which, home, is not habitable, warm, safe or comforting. This is just
the case of Roderick Usher. Edgar Allen Poe writes Usher as the victim in, what would be
considered in modern times, a haunted house story. The Fall of the House of Ushercan theoretically
be consider the original haunted house story. What is a house is haunted, especially what is the
meaning of this in The Fall of the House of Usher?(Usher) Essentially, a haunted house is one
that scares, meaning the house itself scares. The Fall of the House of Usher, demonstrates the
importance of setting to gothic literature through establishing mood, location and situation,
exposing the reader and creating vivid mental pictures of the story s world. When a literary
piece establishes setting, mood, plays an important role in describing the situation in which a
reader is mentally placed. In gothic literature, like, Usher, mood is responsible for conveying the
feeling of dread. During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year,
when the clouds hung oppressively low in the heavens. (293, line 1 3) Poe s first line of Usher is
used to unsettle the reader by simply describing the day as dark

4. Anglerfish Vs Polar Bear
The anglerfish and polar bear adapt to very extreme enviorments. The polar bears have to adapt
to very cold weather. The anglerfish have to adapt to the very little food source they have in the
deep sea. They both have devoloped many features that can help them while they live in these
extreme enviroments. Anglerfish adapt to very extreme envirorments which they live in.
Anglerfish can expand their stomachs so that they can eat two times their size. This is really
good because in the deep sea food is very scarce. So the fact that they can eat lager paportions is
a very good adaption in their part. If they were not able to do that they would probally end up
dieing. The anglerfish developed a relationship with a certain type of bacteria that can glow. That
bacteria is in them but it stays in their esca. This is a good thing because that makes them be able
to light their esca so that they can draw prey in and eat them. Also when they light their esca you
can not see them at all you only see a light and that is why the prey does not think any thing is
wrong and goes up to the esca.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These aspcts help them with being able to kill and strike their prey. Another way they adapt is
that they can hunt their prey under water. They can also smell seals from over a mile away.
They can adapt to cold weather because of their very thick fur. They also have white fur which
helps them be able to camouflage into snowy surroundings. They also have black fur which
absorbs heat from the sun. They also have blubber which helps them stay warm when they go
swimmimg in the ocean. They also have fur on their feet which helps keep their feet warm. They

Febuary 26th at 6:00 pm, I entered Ruth Chris Steak House on Airport Blvd. with a friend of
mine who works there. We were greeted by the host and I explained the premise and the project
and we were seated quickly and in a prominent position so I would be able to observe customers.
After we sat down and ordered our food, I was surprised by how empty the restaurant was. My
friend told me that business doesn t pick up till around 7 or 8 on Sunday s. We ordered our food

Research is a crucial element in many informative texts, it provides numerical evidence that can
convince the reader of an argument, or in the case of Blindspot, make a change in their lives.
Countless research findings were mentioned in the text, but two were particularly moving. There
were the doll studies, conducted by Mamie and Kenneth Clark, and call back rate research, found
by Marianne Bertrand and Sendhil Mullainathan. Both experiments are relevant to today s society
and their results can be helpful to those on a college campus. In the doll studies, African American

Without this layer of gases the Earth would be too cold to be inhabited, perhaps 20 degrees cooler
than now. But, then amount of gases in this layer must remain constant. Even a slight increase
could have drastic results. Many people believe that a one degree increase in the temperature will
not cause much harm. The truth is with every degree of increase in temperature a 100 more
wildlife species are put in danger of extinction. Numerous experiments and studies prove that an
increased level of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, is causing climate change and causing
it fast.
2) Human Activities
A) Burning of fossil fuels This is the most prominent and deadly source of climate change.
Burning of fossil fuels can release greenhouse gases ranging from carbon dioxide to ammonia.
With massive industrialization currently going on, the amount of fossil fuels burned is
increasing. Transport and heating are also major energy sources. Almost 7 giga tonnes of Carbon
dioxide is emitted per year. In the U.K three fourths of energy produced comes from fossil fuels.
Mineral fuels like petroleum and coal are major sources of energy. In the last 150 years more than
45 Billion tonnes of carbon dioxide has been emitted .The most problematic factor is that in the last
decade; there has been no slowdown in carbon emissions.

8. Essay On Women In Athenian Religion
Since human civilization, women never had equality with men. Even in 2018, women are still
fighting for their rights. Women s freedom has always depended on the time period that a women
was raised, their culture, their religion and their society that they are apart of. A prime example that
illustrates this is comparing the women that lived in Athens during the classical age and women in
North America before they were given the right to vote.
There are many opinions about how athenian women were treated and respected during the classical
age. One thing that historians agree upon is that women had great power in religion. There were
many priestesses that contributed to the religion. It must be noted that religion was part of
athenians everyday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who didn t contribute to the religion played a large role as a wife and mother (O Neal 115).
They were not educated on how to read or write (O Neal). This may contribute to one of the
reasons why there were no female writers. Therefore, all information we have dated from the
classical age from Athens was of a man s view. It is agreed upon that the Athenian society was
patriarchal.Women were not allowed to take part in politics: In Athens,[...] women were legal
nonentities whom the greek excluded from any participation in the political or intellectual life
of the city. (O Neal 117). Regardless, women were acknowledged and appreciated when
appropriate. For instance, a great leader that represents women s influence in religion is Chrysis
who was a priestess of Athena Polias. She is known for making the Pythais festival beneficial for
athens and Delphi. (Connelly 1). She was then recognized for her greatness: The city also voted
to grant her, as well as all her descendants, an impressive series of rights and privileges: status as a
special representative of athens to Delphi, the right to consult the oracle, priority of trail,

9. Amarna Letters Essay
The Amarna Letters are a significant ancient source because of the insights they give into the
political, social, and economical conditions of the time. They help modern day historians establish
the history and chronology (both absolute and relative) of the Amarna period because of the range
of correspondences discovered. We know that the Amarna Letters are a collection of around 350
cuneiform tablets that include communications between Egyptand the big powers of the region
during the 18th Dynasty and the reign of Akhenten. From the tablets we read in class we saw
examples of the political conditions . From this it s clear that each ruler during the time held
himself equal with others. They address each other peacefully as brother. We... Show more content

For example, as talked about in the second paper for this course, we can use the Amarna Letters
to surmise what information may be contained in Linear A. From the Amarna Letters we see it
was important to early civilizations to keep record of negotiations whether they are of marriage,
of shipments, or of war and peace with other empires. One record among the Amarna Letters is
regarding a shipment of glass: To the king, my lord, my god... since the king, my lord, has
ordered some glass I send it to the king... (Amarna Letters EA 314). Another record among the
Amarna Letters is regarding the halt of trade: He has now stationed ships of Arwada in Ampi and
in Sigata so grain cannot be brought into Sumur. Nor are we able to enter Sumur...write to the
palace about this matter (Amarna Letters EA 98). One would assume that in order to create a
trading empire, it would be pertinent to know what was being imported and exported thus it s
possible that Linear A represents a shipping record or a trade agreement. It could also serve as a list
of trading routes and correspondence about problems with the routes or fighting that would impede
trading such as in the latter example from the Amarna Letters . Even though the Amarna Letters
were written much later than Linear A, they can still provide evidence for what type of information

When our entrees came out I was shocked. I didn t believe how much they give you every time.
Buca is very generous with their portions and does great job of making their famous pastas. The
chicken Parmigianino was absolutely fabulous. The chicken had a nice texture to it especially
when you cut it up. The chicken was just so tender and juicy and even crunchy due to the crunchy
outside. The marinara sauce on top of it was different from what they gave with the calamari and it

pasta went really well with the chicken. On the other hand the chicken alfredo was not what I
had anticipated. I love cheese, but the amount of cheese they had on this pasta was just
overwhelming. The thickness of the sauce was just way too much for my taste buds. The
chicken in the alfredo was just as tender and delicious as the Parmigianino, but the sauce of the
alfredo really disappointed me. The first few bites were incredible but it got very difficult to eat

In the business world companies are always trying to maximize their earning potential by
strategically investing in short term financing. In terms of finance short term may mean months or
even a couple of years. The type of finance method that is used is contingent on the specific
needs of the corporation. These methods include trade credit, bank credit, financing through
commercial paper, foreign borrowing, and the use of collateral, accounts receivable financing,
inventory financing and hedging to reduce borrowing risk. Trade credit is the practice of
purchasing goods now and paying for them later. Trade credit is widely used and is the least
expensive and most convenient form of short term financing (McHugh, McHugh Nickels, 1999, p.
573). When a company purchases goods on credit an invoice is received outlining the terms of
repayment. An invoice contains terms such as 2/10, net 30. The total bill is due in 30 days, but
the supplier has extended a discount if the amount is paid in full within 10 days. Finance managers
use the information on the invoice to perform an analysis to find out if the discount is worth paying
the invoice in advance or if there is opportunity for more earning potential if invested elsewhere.

cultural definition of literacy has always managed to change its shape based on the socioeconomic

the ability to create/shape its own perception of literacyand therefor place a value on the importance

16. Majoritarian And Effective American Voting System
Voting systems are the set of procedures that determine who will run our local, state, and federal
governments. These procedures include how the ballot is structured, how the vote is casted, how
the votes are counted, and how the winners are selected. Although there are a variety of ways a
voting system can be structured to enable citizen authorization of authority there are two dominant
votingsystems in Western democracies: plurality system and proportional representation. Douglas J.
Amy in (2000) and G. Bingham Powell in (2000) present a list of criteria that can be used to
determine which voting system is preferential. In this paper I will consider Accountability, High
Quality Campaigns, and Stable and Effective Governmentas the criteria for evaluating voting
systems, and evaluate the degree to which majoritarian and proportional representation systems
fulfill these criteria. In the majoritarian vision of citizen control, concentrated power is necessary.

In a majoritarian system, voters are able to easily identify which representative they should be
holding accountable when unacceptable actions are being taken. This is possible because the
majoritarian system uses single member districts in which members of the legislature are elected
one at a time in small districts (Amy 29). It also important to note that candidates are elected
based on who receives the most votes. This means that it is easy for constituents to not only
identify which representative was elected to serve them but to hold them accountable as well. The
same can be said about political parties, because of the two party system it is very likely that one
party will win the majority of the seats in the legislature, which means that voters will know who to

Disposal of an asset occurs when the asset is sold, traded, or discarded. Furthermore, the company
must update depreciation to the date of sale and must calculate a gain or loss on the disposal.
When the selling price of the asset exceeds its book value it means gain occurs. However, when the
selling priceof the assets is less than its book value it shows loss (Porter, G.A. Norton C.L.).
An asset may be disposed of in several different ways. One prevalent method is to sell the asset for
cash. Sale of an asset involves two consequential considerations. First, depreciation must be

The most appealing idea of Christianity to Augustine was that it allowed for a logical view of
God, as well having a certain amount of mystery. In Confessions, Augustine continually
discusses the importance of his education in the liberal art as an important aspect of his
understanding of Christianity. Using logic, Augustine understood the Christian ideas of sin, evil,
and God s relationship to humanity and all creation. He believes it is a man s natural state to
want to be near God spiritually, yet in their weak state of flesh, they often move away from the
one thing they yearn for most, which is God. Augustine says of this, В…to praise you [God] is
the desire of man, a little piece of your creation. You stir man to take pleasure in praising you,
because you have made us for yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you .
Since the idea of logic in religion was appealing for Augustine, it opened the door for the use of
pagan philosophical ideals to enter Christian doctrine. Augustine was especially interested in the
Platonist and Neo Platonists views on God. Throughout Confessions, Augustine uses many of these
philosophical views to show that Christian ideals are indeed logical. He found

In the winter league, the Cangrejeros was a team made up of many future stars like Willie Mays.
That season Roberto Clemente hit an amazing .344 that season. That team demolished almost every
team they played. They won the Caribbean world series and had many nicknames like Death Row.
They are still considered the best Caribbean team ever created.
In his first season in Canada, he did not play very much. This is true because the Dodgers wanted
to keep him a secret from other teams. They did this by benching him when every he was good.
They had trouble with this because he was a great player, and got benched almost every game.
This did not work because Clemente got benched so many times he wanted to quit. Fortunately for
him, the owner of the Dodgers Branch Rickey resigned and then became the owner of the
Pittsburgh Pirates. He then knowing how good Clemente was, gave him an offer. Clemente then
signed the offer and became a Pittsburgh Pirate. Clemente was in Puerto Rico at the time and
admitted to not knowing where Pittsburgh was. Clemente almost never had been to the U.S. and
did not know how many racial barriers he had to conquer in order to become successful. The press
was making fun of him and hated him just because he was Spanish and African American. Some

21. Treatment For Non Compressible Hemorrhages
Current Problems
Hemorrhages, or internal bleeding, account for a large portion of deaths in the world. Hemorrhages
are an extremely life threatening injury that require immediate medical attention. These injuries are
extremely sensitive to the time of injury and the time it takes for surgery to begin. Hemorrhages fall
into two main categories: non compressible and compressible. Compressible hemorrhages can be
treated with external compression, tourniquets, and dressings. Non compressible hemorrhages can
not be treated with these techniques, because the injury is usually deep inside the abdominal part of
the body and either not visible, or not within reach. This makes non compressible hemorrhages
much more challenging to treat.
Current Treatments
Treatment for non compressible hemorrhages depends on the location of the hemorrhage; if the
wound is relatively shallow in the abdominal area and it is possible to reach the site of bleeding,
then gauze and fluid resuscitation may be used. Unfortunately, these techniques are not very
effective over time. If the injury is internal, like an injury to the spleen, liver or retroperitoneal
vasculature, then the only current treatment is emergency surgery. However, most non compressible
hemorrhage injuries occur when medical treatment is not immediately available; transport time to
reach a hospital could take hours, compromising the survival rate of the injured patient.
An ideal treatment for a non compressible hemorrhage would be to

22. Internal Medicine Rotation
Shortly into my Internal Medicine rotation, I was discouraged. Though my residents and attendings
continuously taught me, and the patients were grateful for our care, my discouragement stemmed
from a personal goal: to influence medical management. My goal was to diagnose a DVT before an
attending or suggest drug combinations before my resident. With this goal in mind, my day ended
with me feeling exhausted, full of new information, and dissatisfied. However, when I noticed that
my patients were often confused about their care and were uncertain which of the white coat
wearers would answer their questions, my goal changed. I was going to help patients understand
their illnesses and treatment options. Soon, the team used my recommended antibiotic combination

diagnose patients fascinated me. Wading through years of medical history while integrating current
symptoms to develop differential diagnoses is a difficult task, but one I enjoy. As a student, I found
myself adept at synthesizing complicated patient diagnoses quickly on day one as well as managing
multiple comorbidities throughout their hospital admission. Over my Internal Medicine rotations,
I improved my clinical thought process, which enabled me to better care for my future patients.
Although Internal Medicine has taught me the importance of clinical decision making by
physicians, my academic interests lie with how patients themselves make decisions that affect their

Hermaphrodites and Society
Individuals are given the gift of life when they are born into this world. Many agree that
everyone is blessed and should not take their lives for granted. To be truly alive, individuals
must be overjoyed and pursue happiness. However, others would describe their lives as a joke. To
be precise, many would be ashamed of who they are. A very strong example of an ashamed soul
would be Calliope, the main protagonist of Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. In the story, Eugenides
tells the tale of Callie, who is supposedly a monster because she is a hermaphrodite. Being a
hermaphrodite indicates that someone has the sex organs associated with both genders. By

towards Callie. All throughout the passage, the tone of the story is serious. Callie acknowledges
that her mother was crying in the next room, and the doctors were working on Callie s disease in
secret. The statements convey that Callie s parents are also disappointed and ashamed of what
their daughter has become. Callie understands that her mother sheds tears thinking what she has
done to deserve a defected daughter. Callie s parents are so ashamed and overwhelmed that they
took Callie to New York to try and heal in secret instead of in the open. Callie s parents do not
want others to see what has happened to her out of concern for their daughter s social life as a
normal individual. The thoughts and emotions expressed give readers pity towards Callie and her
condition. Callie muses that she longed to be held, caressed, which was impossible. Callie wishes
to be comforted and surrounded by others that loved and understood her. Unfortunately, Callie
views herself so much like a monster rather than an individual that she is too far long to be
comforted by anyone. Readers infer that Callie is

30. Irony In A Midsummer Night s Dream
The mood within the second stanza is the complete opposite of the first stanza, where Coleridge
is no longer in the peaceful mind of sleep, rather that of a terrifying dream and thoughts in which
it wakes him up. The syntax is abrupt and short, portraying the terror and fear Coleridge is
feeling because of this new dream. The lineage also is short and packed with strong verbs, such
as burning and trampling , as well as depicting visuals of Coleridge s nightmares. Coleridge uses a
combination of alternate and couplet rhyme schemes in the second stanza, which can be
interpreted to his new current fear of sleep. Currently, sleep for Coleridge is a vast pit of his past
wrongdoings and he no longer wants to revisit them. Coleridge begins with not really praying in
comfort and silently, but aloud and in anguish and agony , almost pleading to someone to make the
nightmareand its aftermath stop. Within the third line, Coleridge delves into the nightmarish visual
of, Up starting from the fiendish crowd / of shapes and thoughts that tortured me (16 17). He is
bombarded with feelings and thoughts that won t go away, which is like slow torture to him
because sleep is forever lost to him on this night. Coleridge then begins to recollect his past with,

31. The United States History During The World History
It s very interesting to me when studying America history in the United States. When I lived in
Viet Nam, I studied American history in the World History Program in high school. However, this
program only focused on the history of America in the 20th century such as the Second Industrial
Revolution, the Great Depression, and the Cold War. We studied very in detail about the Cold War
because this event related to Viet Nam war. The Cold War was no large scale fighting directly
between the United Statesand Soviet Union. They are different in economy and politics which are
communist and capitalist.
When taking History 1301 course, I am really interested when I have an opportunity to exam
American history from pre Columbian to Civil War. I knew that the 13 colonies created a war to
gain freedom from the Great Britain. However, I do not know the reasons why they had to left
England to come to the New World, the United States. Now after reviewing Unit 1, I know they
had to leave their own country to come to the United Sates for god, gold, and government. For
example, The Pilgrims, who established Plymouth colony, fled to Holland in 1607to come to the
New World to look for a freedom in religion in the New World. Moreover, the origin of the first
people who came to the Americas is from Asia is a new idea to me. Based on the evidence of
archeologists found in 1927, they concluded that the first known natives from North Asia came to
the America through a frozen patch of land known as

There are two images. Imagine you are walking down the sidewalk next to your home, and you

while determining if it is a life threatening injury. Depending on what you find, you might call for
an ambulance, or if it is not threatening, you might just walk the boy back to his home and help him

classroom Resources folder. Include a description of what about the focus of the article you chose
captured your interest and why.
I chose Smoking behavior and motivational flexibility in light and heavy smokers, (Darlow
Lobel 2012) because I have never understood why people chose to smoke. You know that
smoking is bad for your health when you start smoking and you know it is hard to quit so why
do people even start smoking in the first place? This article captured my interest because I work
with a lot of people that smoke and have been smoking for years and I always wondered what
their motivation was to smoke. I have also always wondered if there were certain triggers that
caused them to, crave, a cigarette. I think learning why people smoke and what dictates when they
do it would be informational.

41. Political Parties During The Civil War
Political parties play an important role on how the government makes decisions. In American
history there are usually two major political parties at one time. These parties can be split up into
two groups of beliefs for a party, Conservative and Liberal. The first form of political parties was
formed during the refining of the constitution from the Articles of Confederation. These two parties
are the Federalists and the anti federalists. The next political partyis the Democratic republicans
who appeared during the later time of the time of the Federalists and Anti Federalists. The final
appearance of different political parties happened during the Antebellum period before the Civil
War. Political parties are a major part of American history because depending on the views and the
party holding congress and the presidency it can affect what changes and how much is done during
that time.
The first major political party is the Federalists party. The Federalist party was one of the first
major political parties. The Federalists party consist of many of the people who supported the
stronger central government such as James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay. The major
conflicting party of this time is the Anti Federalist. The Major conflict of this time is was the U.S
Constitution. The Federalist had the Major advantage of being well funded and have the most
information being sent out to the public. As it is said on U.S.history.org, The Federalists had more

42. Essay on Eyewitness Identification and Reliable Testimony
Eyewitness identification and testimony play a huge role in the criminal justice system today, but
skepticism of eyewitnesses has been growing. Forensic evidence has been used to undermine the
reliability of eyewitness testimony, and the leading cause of false convictions in the United States
is due to misidentifications by eyewitnesses. The role of eyewitness testimony in producing false
confessions and the factors that contribute to the unreliability of these eyewitness testimonies are
sending innocent people to prison, and changes are being made in order to reform these faulty
identification procedures. Human memory is flexible and prone to suggestion. Human memory,

Research that has been performed on this factor shows that the chance of mistaken identification is
1.56 times greater in cases that involve different races than in cases involving same race
identification (Vallas, 2011). This factor of own race bias does not vary significantly among age
groups. Other factors that affect eyewitness identification are violence, stress, and the focus on a
weapon. Violence, stress, and the presence of a weapon at the time of a crime all may have
detrimental effects on the ability of a witness to make an accurate identification (Vallas, 2011).
Stress distorts an eyewitness s observations, and while it is understandable to focus on the
weapon when faced with a situation in which the eyewitness is in danger, the focus on the
weapon is not as important as the description of the perpetrator. Since it is not within the power
of researchers studying the effects of violence and stress on witnesses to replicate the exact
stress and violence of an actual crime, it has been difficult to determine the actual effect that
these two factors have on witnesses (Vallas, 2011). However, many experiments conclude that an
increase in the level of violence used in the crime results in a decrease in both the accuracy of the
identification as well as the witness s recall abilities (Vallas, 2011). Weapon focus is described as

45. Best MAMA Performances From Mnet Asian Music Award 2014
Best MAMA Performances of 2017
Now that fan wars have finally die down, let s take a look at some of the best performances from
Mnet Asian Music Award (MAMA) 2017. Unlike previous years, MAMA this year took place at
three different countries: Vietnam, Japan, and Hong Kong. I s happy that they decide to have the
award show at different locations because that gave a chance for more artists to perform and have
longer stages. I love every single performance from MAMA 2017 and all the hard work that the
artists put in. It was not perfect because some of the stupid mistakes from Mnet. Yeah, I m talking

MAMA Hong Kong: The Force Of The Planet EXO
EXO performed The Eve , one the best non title track of the year by the way, and I got goosebump
while watching the live stage. The dance at the chorus has to be one of the sexiest choreographies
of the year. They didn t have to do much, but the slow hip thrust and their attitude/facial
expressions gave the song that smooth, sexy feel. I was dead after Kai s solo dance, and I am
sure others were, too. Gosh, Kai is such a talented dancer and he slayed that performance! Of
course, they also performed their two popular title track, Kokopop and Power. I like it when artists
do something with their performance at year end award shows with remixes of their songs. EXO s
performance was definitely one of the best performances of the night along with BTS.
MAMA Hong Kong: Scene Of Love Soyou, Chanyeol, Ailee
I stayed up for MAMA Hong Kong just to watch the collaboration between Soyou and Chanyeol
and I wasn t disappointed! I love Soyou s voice to death and her performance of I Miss You is so
calm and mesmerizing. Soyou s voice really suit Stay With Me and I think she is one of the best
singers Chanyeol has sung the song with. Chanyeol seemed to be sick because he could be barely
heard. This was not his first time performing the song anyway, so he either was sick or

This paper will discuss the life of Maria Mitchell and how she became the first woman
astronomer in the United States. It will tell of where she grew up. How she climbed the ranks to
achieve her goals and how she came into discovering her true passion of astronomy. By describing
the events that made this courageous woman, we can see clearly how she set an example for her
gender in the Nineteenth century.
Women have always been at the forefronts of science, even though they have not always taken the
credit for it. One of the defining marks of humanity is our ability to affect and predict our

She had memorized the sky and was sure of her observation. (Gromley p.55) This was the great
discovery that her constant vigilance brought into the open, as she saw a comet of unknown origin.
It occurred to her that this might be a comet. Maria recorded the presumed comet s coordinates.
The next night the star moved again. This time she was sure it was a comet. Her father wrote to
Professor William Bond at the Harvard University observatory about Maria s discovery.
Professor Bond submitted Maria s name to the king of Denmark who had offered a gold medal
to a person who discovers a comet seen only through a telescope. Another person, Father
Francesco de Vico of Rome discovered the same comet two days later (Mitchell p.105) than Maria
Mitchell and the decision was made to award him the prize before news of Maria s earlier
discovery arrived in Europe. After some negotiations Maria Mitchell was awarded the medal for
this discovery a year later. The comet was named Miss Mitchell s Comet.
She continued working as a librarian, but now she was also receiving letters of congratulations
from scientists and tourists were coming to take a look at the woman astronomer. In 1848 the
American Academy of Arts and Sciences voted her the first woman member. The Association for

47. Taking a Look at Customer Satisfaction
Customer satisfaction.
According to previous studies, it shows that customer satisfaction is important to company
because customer satisfaction will lead to customer loyalty which will result to company
profitability (Hallowell, 1996). Customers evaluation of the product and service received will
depend on the performance of the company. High evaluation will come as a result of high
performance and if performance will be equal or above customer expectation, a customer will be
satisfied. But Any discrepancy leads to disconfirmation, i.e. positive disconfirmation increases or
maintains satisfaction and negative disconfirmation creates dissatisfaction (Tor Bodil, 1998).
Satisfaction comes when customer has a belief on the services delivered to they are superior and
of higher quality, that they will not be able to get those services from any mobile operators
services than the same company they are using now.. Because Satisfaction, it will triggers
purchase. And repeated purchase and loyal customer will repurchase from the same mobile
operators services (Gerpott, Rams Schindler, 2000). The satisfaction will come when perceived
value exceeds his expectations. Perceived value is the benefits customers got from the services
offered by service provider and is compared with the price a customer paid to get the products or
services from the company. If the perceived value is below customers expectations, customer is not
being satisfied with the service delivery and his

48. Why Is Softball Harder Than Baseball
Have you ever wondered if softball is harder than baseball, or even the other way around? Both
softball and baseball are challenging sports. They have the same basics, and some of the same
rules. They have plenty of things in common, but one is definitely harder than the other. Softball is
harder than baseballbecause of the size of the bats and balls, the reaction time, and the difference
in pitching. First, you must know the comparison of a softball, a baseball, and both of their bats.
A softball is 12 inches in diameter, and a baseball is 5 inches. Also, a softball is heavier than a
baseball, so therefore it takes a lot more effort to throw and hit. Though, a softball is bigger, it is
also bright yellow, being the same color as the sun. When you re playing softball in midday,
while the sun is beating down hard on your skin, and your eyes, it may be a little harder to see.
The diameter of a softball bat is usually around 2 Вј inches, but a baseball bat is around 2 Вѕ inches
(The). The softball bat may be just a tiny bit smaller than a baseball bat, but when you re playing,
it makes a lot of difference.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the softball field is much smaller than a baseball field, you have a lot less reaction time
than you think. The pitching mound is closer to the home plate in a softball field. Therefore,
when a pitch is thrown to the home plate, you have to see the ball and make sure that you have
enough time to swing your bat. Also, while the pitching mound very close to home plate, the
pitcher also has to figure out a way to get the batter out. They could throw curveballs, screwballs,
or rise balls. This gives the batter much less of an advantage at the home plate. With the pitcher
throwing these kinds of balls, the batter still has very little reaction

50. The Rape Of Sexual Assault
Currently in society it seems like fewer people comprehend the simple meaning of the word no.
Records of sexual assault are going through the roof, because of the fact people do not understand
that no means no. The main victims of sexual assault are women and statics show one in four
women have experienced unwanted sexual content. People come up with numerous excuses of why
to blame the woman for the experiences they face, which is wrong and make women question
themselves. Women who are sexual assaulted are judged by themselves and by our society, which
leads to many psychological problems. Sexual assaultcan happen to any type of woman and causes
many psychological, emotional, and physical problems for their futures. Instead of blaming the
victim for being targeted, because of what they wore or said, we should lay blame on the person
who could not control their urges to and forcefully violated a person and caused them emotional
harm.
Many women who are sexual assaulted do not even report the crime, because they are facing
psychological, emotional, and physical problems. Women need to understand that sexual assault is
defined as any form of unwanted sexual touching or penetration without consent , which, means if
a person says no and someone still proceeds to do so than it is assault and they can file it (Blodget
2015). Society sets many sexiest standards, in which women are blamed for everything that
happens to them and are taught boys will be boys. Men are not held

51. Dancer in the Dark Film Review Essay
If I was to reduce my description of Dancer in the dark to one word, it would be daring. Its
immediate effect on me was stronger than that of maybe any other film I ve ever seen. It shook
me, stirred my emotions, made me think and reflect, it disturbed me in the most positive sense of
the word and it still does. Its radical make, boldness and consistency exceeds all expectations and
probably everything that s come before. This is the perfect example of a director s vision
uncompromisingly realized.
To be fair, I have to say that Dancer in the darkis one of those films that people either deeply

Selma, however, harbours a dark secret. She is afflicted with a hereditary blinding disease that
eats away at her sight as she grows older. She works horrendous hours of every day and night to
save up to pay for an operation that will give her son the chance of a life free of blindness. Selma
is saved from the crushing sadness of her existence by music. Music she hears on the factory
floor, the passing train, echoed footfalls, the air shaft in the wall. Every time she hears or feels a
beat she imagines herself breaking into a spontaneous song and dance routine like she had seen
so many times in her childhood. Any rhythmic sound source is likely to elevate her to the world
of musicals. Sounds of her surroundings are the bass line to an extravagant musical fantasy
world, this not only allows her to break away from the horrors of the situations she finds herself
in, but also allows Von Trier to briefly break away from the confines of his Dogma. As the movie
progresses we get to witness her life crumbling and falling apart around her.
There are many aspects about Dancer in the Dark that make it stand out so distinctly. Relating to the
songs, the first phrase that came to my mind after seeing the film was: a musical for people who
dislike musicals. The whole mood and depressing atmosphere formed a contrast to what we think
of when we hear musical. In addition, the songs were not embedded realistically in the film (that s

52. Essay on BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico
An oil spill of 4.9 million barrels, which happened in 2010, created not only turmoil for the
environment, but caused the economy to take a great hit from the loss of an important raw
material. Transocean were the owners of the oil rig drilling on behalf of BP, who were the ones at
fault for the spill. This event caused a stir in both the government and non governmental
organizations, because of the extensive damage that it caused. Federal investigations were put
under way to determine the factors that caused the spill and once the investigation was concluded
several environmental groups began to target the company to portray them as negligent. BP became

The first step begins with geologists and geophysicist exploring areas around which they might
consider drilling in order to examine rocks, the formations they make to the earth, and they type
and shape of the subsurface of the rock. They also use aircrafts that are able to measure the
gravitational pull, and acoustic surveys to receive pictures of the layering of the earth through
the use of sound waves. Once all assessments have been completed and experts have been
consulted, the risks have been assessed, the environmental studies have been carried out and the
data has been compiled into workable maps of the exploration site, it s time to send in the
drilling crew (BP, 2013, para. 1). The decision to drill is not a hasty one and once it is decided,
drilling in the ocean is a more difficult task when attempting to maintain an oilrig in place with
the currents and waves. As many precautions as possible is taken before the drilling actually
begins and when it does, BP is concerned with using the best type of technology in order to
maintain a safe environment. Because of the gravity of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and the
enormity of the situation, the government was obliged to step in and investigate. According to
Ososfky, the spill takes place at the intersection of legal regimes governing offshore activities and
those governing oil spills and other disasters.

53. How Music Can Help Us Find Our Identity Essay
Ones identity is something greatly important to a person. An identity makes us who we are,
combining our nationality, ethnicity, race, class, religion, and gender, a complex mixture that
involves many factors. This is whom we are, what we are made of. One tool to show identity or
more than just show, the means by which identity is created, is music. We constantly hear musical
metaphors such as find your voice or march to the rhythm of your own drum simple putting music
can help us find our identity. Music can construct, represent and portray ones identity, showing
others and our self who we are and what makes our identity.
Coming from a western society, musical identity can often become very clouded. Music is usually
produced for a global audience in western culture and intended to top the charts, meaning it can be
difficult to find one identity in this music. Saying this doesn t mean that music wont play a role in
ones identity in western culture, on contrary music makes its way into many parts of who we are.
From personal experience music has influenced who I spend time with, as a community is created
with people who share musical preferences with myself. Another example comes from the
University of Glasgow, they preformed a number of studies on music and identity, finding that the
music you relate to from your teenage years is music that stays with you throughout your life,
making it a part of your identity. Residing in a western culture, we are familiar with the

55. Pros And Cons Of Ad Hoc Plea Bargain
Ad hoc plea bargains typically involves some sort of an unauthorized form of punishment by the
courts, and the criminal justice system. It s said that these forms of bargaining are unreasonable
and also unethical and unusual. Law professor and former judge Joseph Colquitt identifies
examples of ad hoc plea bargaining and identifies the forms they come in. First, of the court may
impose an extraordinary condition of probation following a plea. Second, the defendant may offer
or be required to perform some act as a quid pro for a dismissal or more lenient sentence. Third, the
court may impose an unauthorized form of punishment as a substitute for a statutory established
method of punishment. Forth, the state may offer some unauthorized benefit... Show more content

Based on the charged presented to someone a plea bargain, no matter how unusual may sound
appealing. For example, if an individual was stop for speeding one night and was later found to
be driving under the influence they could be charged with an OUI. Lets say this is not this
persons first OUI and due to this being a recurring offence they will be facing jail time and a
loss of license. After the individual was arrested their vehicle was searched and a large amount
of money was found in a bank sleeve. In this instance the prosecutor offers, no jail time, and
suspension of the license for 30 days opposed to year in exchange for the cash found in the
vehicle. This would be an example of ad hoc plea bargaining. It s unethical perhaps for the
prosecutor to suggest the defendant surrender his money to the state to receive a lighter sentence,
however if the defendant does not with to do jail time and not having a license for an extender
period of time could be devastating to them. Ad hoc plea bargaining can also be exchanged in the
other direction, from the defendant to the
