INTRODUCTION
• Frameless glass doors are made by creating a thick glass plate, typically between 1/2″ and
3/4″ thick, depending on the size, which is usually hung into a frameless glass frame (a series
of glass panels to the sides and above the doors). It is not unusual to see a large beam above
the doors supporting the top pivots.
Working of frameless door
• On a frameless shower enclosure when the door is open there is nothing around the edges,
no metal, only the hinges where the door meets the panel. This look allows for a more

COLLAPSIBLE
SHUTTER DOORS
INTRODUCTION
• Collapsible Shutter is different type of shutter which slide horizontally with
collapsible gate . It can be opened or closed by slight pull or push. This door is used
where the width of the door is large and space is insufficient to provide two-leafed hinged
shutters to open. This door is fabricated from thin mild steel sections.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
PROS
• It is easy to use and reliable and can be opened as desired.
• It is easy to handle.It is a highly visual deterrent to
potential intruders.
• These doors are custom made and cost effective. A single
door can be used for easy access without having to open
the whole door.
• They are light in weight as compared to solid doors and
can be controlled easily as it can be operated with chain or
lock.
CONS
• It collects more dust in guide channel and hence becomes difficult to
operate.
• If not operated properly, the hardware can get damaged, making the door
very difficult to use.
• There is a guide channel on the either side; therefore there are chances of
someone stumbling on the floor.
• It requires more lubrication. So it is not completely maintenance free.
• It needs regular painting as they get corroded earlier (If exposed to direct
sunlight or rain).
• The collapsible door does not provide privacy inside the room.
• These doors are not suitable for air-conditioned halls.
• These doors do not close automatically when not in use.
SLIDING DOOR
INTRODUCTION
• A sliding door is a type of door which opens horizontally by sliding, usually horizontal to a wall.
Sliding doors can be mounted either on top of a track below or be suspended from a track
above. Some types slide into a space in the parallel wall in the direction of travel, rather than the
door sliding along the outside of the parallel wall.There are several types of sliding doors, such
as pocket doors, sliding glass doors, center-opening doors, and bypass doors. Sliding doors are
commonly used as shower doors, glass doors, screen doors, wardrobe doors or in vans.
• A standard sliding glass door is 80-inches tall with a width varying from 60 inches to 72 inches
depending on the space. In most homes, doorframes are measured to a standard size to make
door replacements easy.

BI-FOLDING DOOR
• Bi-fold doors are made up of multiple door panels, which when opened, overlap
and fold onto each other. The point at which the door panels meet are fitted with
rollers, so when the door is opened it slides and folds in a concertina-like fashion.
SLIDING PATIO DOOR
• As the name suggests these large, generally glass sliding doors are designed to
separate internal spaces from outdoor patios. The intention is to create a
seamless blend between the indoors and outdoors, by turning what would be a
wall into a large window.
• Given these doors have to compete with the elements, they are much more
heavy-duty than others in this list, and are well-equipped in keeping the inside in,
and the outside out.
POCKET SLIDING DOOR
• Pocket sliding doors are those which slide away into a hidden cavity in the wall,
i.e. a ‘pocket’. This will require a wall which is wide enough to accommodate the
pocket, and also have enough space on one side of the door frame to fit the door
when fully opened. These pockets are generally installed when a new home is
being built, but it is possible to retrofit one if the requisite space exists.
STACKER SLIDING DOOR
• Stacker sliding doors are sliding doors which, as the name suggests, stack on top
of one another when opened. These doors utilise more panels than a standard
sliding door, but each is smaller and runs on its own track. As a result, when fully
opened the stack of panels is substantially thicker than that of a standard sliding
door.
BYPASS SLIDING (BARN)DOOR
• Often serving a similar purpose to cavity doors, bypass barn doors are often
employed to maximise space. Bypass bars doors are unique because instead of
sliding on a track that’s hidden in a door frame, the mechanism is exposed and
on display.

Minimal maintenance

comprises of fewer parts thus resulting in less breakage. This also means it mandates

Traditional windows consisting of springs and pulleys tend to wear out or fail over

Cleaning
• Sliding doors and windows can be challenging to clean on the outside.
Although cleaning them on the inside is relatively easier, sliding windows slide
back and forth thus making it difficult to clean from the outside especially
during winters.
• Unlike other types of windows that can be tilted inside for easy cleaning, it can
be tricky to clean the entirety of a sliding window or door especially if it’s
perched on a higher level. However, the job can be completed with a ladder so
it is not a serious problem.
• There are also certain corners which are difficult to reach and access
especially the channels which can lead to accumulation of dust, grime and dirt.
Fingerprints
• A lot of times, sliding doors and windows can become a fingerprint magnet as
individuals tend to slide it open by touching the glass itself. This can prove to
be quite an ordeal for the person who has to clean the windows because
fingerprint marks can build up very quickly over time
Revolving Door
INTRODUCTION
• A revolving door typically consists of three or four doors that hang on a central shaft and
rotate around a vertical axis within a cylindrical enclosure.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
PROS
• Revolving doors offer outstanding protection
against draughts, noise, dust and dirt, thus helping
to improve energy efficiency in buildings.
• Revolving doors are energy efficient as they, acting
as an airlock, prevent drafts, thus decreasing the
loss of heating or cooling for the building.
• Revolving doors can also be used as security
devices to restrict entry to a single person at a time
if the spacing between the doors is small enough
eg. Airport Security Checks
CONS
• Sometimes it is heavy to push or its components are
claustrophobically narrow.
• There's also anxiety about getting stuck in a component
with another person.

  • 21. SLIDING PATIO DOOR • As the name suggests these large, generally glass sliding doors are designed to separate internal spaces from outdoor patios. The intention is to create a seamless blend between the indoors and outdoors, by turning what would be a wall into a large window. • Given these doors have to compete with the elements, they are much more heavy-duty than others in this list, and are well-equipped in keeping the inside in, and the outside out.
  • 22. POCKET SLIDING DOOR • Pocket sliding doors are those which slide away into a hidden cavity in the wall, i.e. a ‘pocket’. This will require a wall which is wide enough to accommodate the pocket, and also have enough space on one side of the door frame to fit the door when fully opened. These pockets are generally installed when a new home is being built, but it is possible to retrofit one if the requisite space exists.

Although cleaning them on the inside is relatively easier, sliding windows slide back and forth thus making it difficult to clean from the outside especially during winters. • Unlike other types of windows that can be tilted inside for easy cleaning, it can be tricky to clean the entirety of a sliding window or door especially if it’s perched on a higher level. However, the job can be completed with a ladder so it is not a serious problem. • There are also certain corners which are difficult to reach and access especially the channels which can lead to accumulation of dust, grime and dirt. Fingerprints • A lot of times, sliding doors and windows can become a fingerprint magnet as individuals tend to slide it open by touching the glass itself. This can prove to be quite an ordeal for the person who has to clean the windows because fingerprint marks can build up very quickly over time

Airport Security Checks CONS • Sometimes it is heavy to push or its components are claustrophobically narrow. • There's also anxiety about getting stuck in a component with another person.
