Enterprise Data World Webinar: Mastering & Referencing Data for the EnterpriseDATAVERSITY
Developing and implementing a master record and reference data through a best practice approach and lessons learned for your organization’s data business needs. The ability to leverage the immense data available across an organization has become paramount for continued growth and success. Companies need accessible and reliable information to make more informed and effective business decisions across channels while continuing to provide quality service to their customers. Many companies recognize the need to develop a Master Data Program, as part of an overall Data Strategy initiative, to consistently manage the quality, data interoperability, accessibility, and availability of core data (e.g., customer, product). Determining where to start, finding business opportunities, defining what master data management means in your organization, and addressing the cultural and political realities are all critical to make your master data program successful and valuable. This seminar will present real world approaches used for successfully implementing a Master Data Domain and program from several organization cases including Walgreens.
The world around us is changing. Data is embedded in everything, and users from all lines of business want to leverage this data to influence decisions. The trick is to create a culture for pervasive analytics and empower the business to use data everywhere.
The core enabling technology to make this happen is Apache Hadoop. By leveraging Hadoop, organizations of all sizes and across all industries are making business models more predictable, and creating significant competitive advantages using big data.
Join Cloudera and Forrester to learn:

How to Integrate Data and Protect PrivacyDATAVERSITY
Integrating data from different sources can result in privacy violations. For example, if a government agency combines data about a person's income, education, health and employment data then there is the potential for this data to be misused. However, government agencies often need to integrate data from multiple sources to understand if changes to policy result in improved outcomes.
The Australian Federal Government has introduced an Integration Authority certification to ensure its agencies have controls in place to combine data from different sources in a way that protects privacy. This webinar describes a method for integrating data and protecting privacy.

Arthur C. Nielsen, the founder of ACNielsen said, “The price of light is less than the cost of darkness.” This is becoming even more important in the day and age of IoT devices and ubiquitous internet connectivity. The amount of data that is at the fingertips of our companies’ decision makers is colossal. Yet very few business leaders and their direct teams can analyze their data by themselves to uncover insights that will improve our products and services to delight their customers and grow their business.
With the rise of low-code/no-code tools, cloud infrastructure, and the convergence of AI and BI, the democratization of analytics can accelerate the time to answer a question while improving its relevancy.
In this presentation, we will cover the 12 critical capabilities to succeed in enabling self-service analytics and augmenting data literacy across the enterprise.
The Chief Data Officer's Agenda: What a CDO Needs to Know about Data QualityDATAVERSITY
Data is the ultimate cross-enterprise asset. Data and information flow throughout an organization and require both business and IT expertise to manage them effectively. The same data is available for multiple users, unlike physical products that once sold to a buyer cannot be resold to the next customer who walks through the door or places an online order. These properties create unique challenges for the CDO chartered to oversee the data management organization. The purpose of any data management work is to ensure high quality, trusted data and information, yet data quality is a profession within itself. Join us to learn what a CDO needs to know about data quality:
The relationship between data quality, governance, and other data management functions
Options for structuring within your organization
The difference between data quality programs and projects
What a CDO can do to help both data quality programs and projects succeed

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Parts of a puzzle. Elephant visualSix blind men touch an elephantTalk about the various solutions in analytics. No one solution is 100%.The best tools are good but unwieldy. The better tools give you aggregate data but not transactional.
One of the questions we were repeatedly being asked was which analytics solution is the best: Paid like Radian 6, Sysomos, or Simply Measured free like Hoot Suite or Facebook Insights… the thing is, they all offer value and are stronger in some aspects than others. But no one is 100%. We saw where the holes were. Instead of recreating another solution, we created a dashboard solution that is data agnostic, accepting any data stream and allowing the user to compare the analysis directly against each other. And we went one step further to show where correlations are statistically significant and where they are not.Instead of offering univariate or even bivariate views, we’re offering multivariate analysisEmpowers you to determine causality based on correlation that you can take action on.
