Fossils fuels
What is fuel?????
A material that is burned to give
energy.
We use energy to heat homes ,run cars and
airplanes which comes from fuel.
What are fossils fuels?
- a fuel that forms from the remains of
decayed plants and animals
-it can be used to produce electricity.
-Coal , natural gas and oil are fossils fuels.
Coal
coal is formed when plants of the
swamps die and buried for many
years.
Oil
-oil is found in rocks deep below the
earth surface
-people use pumps to bring oil to the
surface.
Oil formation
What is the different between
coal and oil?
-coal is formed from decayed
parts of plants but oil is formed
from decayed parts of animals
So,,,,,, fossils fuels can finish after
time its not easily replaced or
reused and this is mean that its
nonrenewable source of energy.
Resources of energy
Renewable resources of energy
- a resource of energy that can
be replaced or used again and
again.
Example:
1- solar energy
it’s the energy from the sun that is used to
produce electricity
examples: some cars can move by the solar
energy.
2-wind energy
-the energy of the wind is used to
produce electricity (wind turbines)
3-moving water energy.
-the energy of the moving water(water
falls) is used to turn the turbines and
produce electricity.
Can we produce energy from lakes?
No, because we need the strong
moving water from up to down to
produce energy.
Non renewable sources of energy
A resources of energy that
cannot be replaced or reused
such as fossils fuels because it
takes millions of years to form
and once they are used up , they
are gone forever.
