This webinar discusses the findings of a recently commissioned Forrester Consulting Total Economic ImpactTM (TEI) study of WANdisco's SVN MultiSite. Forrester's TEI methodology measures costs and cost reduction and weighs the enabling value of a technology in increasing the effectiveness of overall business processes. The subject of the study was a Fortune 500 company with annual revenues of over $5 billion, with SVN MultiSite in production in the US, UK, and India. Forrester concluded that SVN MultiSite generated a return on investment (ROI) of 357% with a payback period of less than 2 months.
Many large organizations recognize the value of open source solutions such as Subversion, but require the security provided by a commercial software vendor's support contract. With core developers from the project on staff and solutions that support the world's largest Subversion implementations, WANdisco is uniquely qualified to deliver the enterprise-class support services that these organizations expect to eliminate the risks of implementing an open source solution such as Subversion from both a business continuity as well as a legal perspective. We offer indemnification coverage that protects our customers from intellectual property claims that can arise from the use of open source software.
WANdisco offers four levels of Subversion support: Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus. See the table below and read why you should choose WANdisco for your Subversion support.

Forrester Research on Globally Distributed Development Using SubversionWANdisco Plc
On December 3, 2009, Jeffrey Hammond, Senior Analyst at Forrester Research presented the findings of a WANdisco customer using Subversion MultiSite. Mr. Hammond and members of Forrester Research's consulting team will explain the reasons behind Subversion's rapid ascent to the leadership position in the SCM space, and discuss the findings of the TEI study.
The subject of the study was a Global Fortune 500 company in the semiconductor industry using Subversion MultiSite at locations in the United States and Asia.
Forrester found significant benefits and cost savings in a broad range of areas due to Subversion MultiSite's ability to provide remote users with real-time access to Subversion repositories and eliminate downtime.
A trick question in the cloud era, where we have both options available at our feet. What should we use? What are the tradeoffs? Why I should use and not the other one? If you join this session you might find answers to these questions.
Windows 10 Migration Tips, Tricks, and StrategiesIvanti
Windows 10 presents IT with a vast array of new challenges, and delivering a seamless migration is daunting. Additionally, Microsoft’s new release cadence, with frequent large updates, will force IT into a constant state of migration and endless rounds of critical decisions, overtaxing IT resources and IT teams’ ability to keep up. In this webinar, Ivanti consultants will share their best practices (and tricks) to reduce Windows 10 complexity, ease migration challenges, and migrate users with minimal interruption.

Businesses are rapidly expanding beyond their traditional data center boundaries into the cloud, with hybrid cloud architectures becoming the new norm. As business-critical workloads and data get increasingly run on diverse platforms across multiple data centers, private and public clouds, it is imperative for IT business continuity solutions to keep pace with the transformation and to continue meeting business Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Veritas Resiliency Platform makes it simple for organizations to innovate without compromising on critical business SLAs. Organizations can confidently adopt hybrid cloud architectures and predictably meet critical SLAs in spite of growing IT complexity. With a unified approach to IT Service Continuity, Resiliency Platform enables IT operations to deliver predictable service levels to the business while ensuring location independence, platform choice, and operational simplicity.
System Center Operations Manager is a big deal.
On April 24th, Erik Gilreath discussed SCOM and uncovered: why SCOM is so rarely installed, why that's a mistake, easy steps to install, what you should be doing with it, and what it can do that other people's products can't.
Application Virtualization in Citrix XenAppdigitallibrary
Citrix's XenApp application virtualization prouct uses Isolation 2.0 technology, which means applications are not installed on the OS--each app is securely stored in its own container. Applications are also isolated from one another at runtime. And it eliminates tedioius regression testing. This results in an improved user experience, as users can use apps anywhere, even when no network connection is available. And it elminates compatibility issues between applications.
Using SCCM 2012 r2 to Patch Linux, UNIX and MacsLumension
Today, everything has to be patched. From desktop and laptop to server and every operating system in between. With compliance, what we have to pay attention to is what’s actually out there on our network – not just what you wish were there.
Servers (Windows, UNIX and Linux)Even Windows-centric environments have at least a few UNIX or Linux servers that need to be secure and patched. Linux and UNIX servers often fulfill critical functions with few and short maintenance windows. These can be a real pain point for admins who specialize in Windows or are managed by an entirely different admin.
Desktops (Windows and Macs)Maybe you are responsible for desktops instead of servers. Again it’s not just a Windows story any more. More and more people are opting for Macs instead of Windows. Watch the vulnerability lists and you’ll see that Macs need patching too.
The kicker though is the 80/20 rule. If at least 80% of the computers on your network are Windows and the remaining 20% are everything else – it’s a safe bet, given the maturity and ease of WSUS, that 20% of your patching effort goes to Windows but 80% of your effort is consumed with patching all the different flavors of UNIX, Linux and your Mac computers. We need one system to manage all our patches and one pane of glass to prove compliance from data center to desktop.
Believe it or not System Center 2012 R2 provides the infrastructure to do just that – it just needs a little help. Last time we showed you how you can patch 3rd party apps on Windows through System Center Update Manager. This time we’ll show you how you can patch non-Windows systems using the new System Center clients for UNIX, Linux and Mac.

Nintex Workflow for Sharepoint - Return on Investment Whitepaper by Forrester...David J Rosenthal
Nintex commissioned Forrester Research to conduct aTotal
Economic Impact™ (TEI) study and examine the potential
return on investment (ROI) that enterprises may realize by
deploying Nintex’s workflow platform. The purpose of this
study is to provide readers with a framework to evaluate the
potential financial impact of using the Nintex workflow platform
within their organizations.
To better understand the benefits, costs, and risksassociated
with the implementation of the Nintex workflow platform, which we will refer to as the Platform, Forrester interviewed several
customers with multiple years of experience using Nintex Workflow and Nintex Forms. These customers recognize the value
inherent in automating processes. Their colleagues and customers are working both in offices and on mobile devices and
are spread across many countries. Content necessaryto collaborate and make business decisions is stored in many
applications across these devices. They have some well-defined processes, but the steps leading up to these processes or
to connect closely related processes are loosely defined and manual. With Nintex Workflow, customers can automate their
processes and create workflows that connect their people, processes, and content. With Nintex Forms, Nintex provides an
easy way to collect data from colleagues and customers within the workflow. Using Nintex Mobile, customers can extend
these workflows to users who are on the go. With Nintex Connectors, customers can easily integrate cloud services and lineof-business applications into their workflows.
Prior to using the Platform, these customers were mostly relying on custom code to automate processes. However, it was
difficult and time-consuming to build workflows, and many processes remained manual (e.g. paper-based,email, excel files)
while a backlog of requests for automation grew. This left customers frustrated with process inefficiencies and the inability to
automate faster. With the Platform, customers are able to automate processes in pace with demand, connect the right
people and data in each process, and easily make changes to workflows as processes change. This results in increased
productivity for end users and IT, reduced costs associated with automation, better collaboration, and higher quality of work.

From 50 to 500 product engineers – data-driven approach to building impactful...DevClub_lv
Erik Kaju from Wise will give a talk “From 50 to 500 product engineers – data-driven approach to building impactful and efficient product teams”.
Product engineering is data-driven. It is best to avoid personal opinions and back actions with data. Sharing data transparently and making it broadly accessible within the whole company helps to scale and build faster. Data-driven practices are useful beyond just product development. Over the years, we have been systematic and methodological in how we scale the company and track its health.
This is a story of Wise growing from a regular-sized with 50 engineers to one with 500. While our headcount has grown tenfold, the speed of our releasing and ability to deliver complex projects has risen significantly. It is crucial for the scale-up to not slow down. And that is only possible with effective and unhampered teams. Join Erik for fresh insights that will inspire you to grow your teams, track their health and experiment with team metrics.
(Language – English)
Erik is Director of Engineering at Wise.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
