This document outlines a proposal for a documentary about social networking and cyber bullying, with a focus on teenagers. It will take an informal approach with interviews of students, teachers, and the general public. Research methods include a questionnaire, vox pops, and professional interviews to understand social networking habits and opinions on the positives and negatives. Resources needed are a camera, microphone, computer for editing, and a recording studio.

FORMAL PROPOSAL.

2. • The topic in which we have decided to focus on includes social networking
however we are primarily focusing upon cyber bullying.
• The target audience in which we have chosen is teenagers. This is because
as we are of the same age as our target audience we feel we’ll be able to
connect more to them and share certain interests.
• Our documentary will be relatively informal. This is because our target
audience is teenagers and we have decided that it would be more
interesting if it was informal appose to formal.

3. • Throughout our documentary we are planning to explore both the positive
and negative aspects of social networking.
• We aim to grasp both the negative and positive aspects through vox pops
with students enabling us to see their opinion, an interview with a college
teacher/coach this will enable us to see the opinion of a slightly older
generation and also a professional in who works with teenagers on a daily
basis.
• We are also hoping to go to Solihull and again interview people, enabling
us to grasp the opinion of the general public.
• We are also hoping to include some archive footage. This could possibly
include: footage of elderly/fat men pretending to be young ext. Possibly
news stories of events which have happened in which link to social
networking.

4. Our primary research includes: we are currently doing a questionnaire asking
about peoples social networking habits. This will help with statistics. The vox
pops within college and solihull will help us to gain an insight into the opinion
of the general public. Professional interviews in which we are planning on
doing with teachers and coaches will enable us to gain an insight of the
opinion of the slightly older generation and of those who work with teenagers
on a daily basis.
Our secondary research includes: we will be using statistics in order to plan
our voice over and inform the viewers. Furthermore we are currently
investigating websites including: channel 4 and BBC 3. We have also watched
various documentaries including: Supersize me and a good smack.

5. • Equipment we will need includes: Tripod, camera, headphones and a
microphone.
• We will need access to a PC/Mac which will allow us to edit our
documentary and access the statistics and facts we aim to use.
• We also hope to use a still camera in order to take certain shots in which
we can use throughout our documentary.
• In order to make our radio trailer and voice over we are hoping to use
potentially a recording studio or just a quiet area classroom to ensure it is
clear.
