The document discusses magazine design elements. It recommends using uppercase letters and cartoon images in the masthead to attract readers. It also suggests using a plain white background and adding colorful elements on top so the masthead and main images stand out and engage readers. The document includes a diagram labeling common magazine design components like the masthead, tagline, cover lines, barcodes, articles, and page numbers.
2. The mastheads is the most important, eye-catching part of the
magazine so it is vital it stands out. Many magazines I have
looked at use upper case letters this is a common and effective
technique so I think I will bring this idea forward in to mine.
Using cartoonish images in the title may be an idea I carry on for
example how “We Love Pop” use a love heart instead of a heart I
think this is appealing to the intended target audience. The use
of the love heart is a common image used in social media
communication which the target audience use.
3. Backgrounds on a typical pop magazine are plain white
then they provide loads and loads of colours on top as this
makes the magazine stand out, as any colour works with
white. If there was a bright colour used in the background
it would take the focus away from the more important
things in the magazine such as the main image or
masthead. It used to help the masthead and main image
stand out and therefore engages the reader and attracts
them straight to the magazine.
