The forests of Armenia contain several groups of important tree and bush species. The main tree group occupies the largest areas and includes beech, oak, hornbeam, and pine trees, which are the biggest and most resistant. The secondary tree group, found mainly in wetter forest areas, includes elm, maple, lime, birch, and ash trees. These secondary trees occupy large forest areas after the main group. The forests also contain rare tree types and valuable bush species.
