It is an artificial reservoir situated in ormanjhi,
Ranchi, Jharkhand. It was constructed across the
Subarnarekha River and was opened in 1971. It is a
popular picnic spot for the residents of Ranchi and
Ramgarh District.
The catchment area of 717sq km has a full reservoir
level of 1,954ft.

Patratu Dam is a major travel attraction in
Ranchi. This earthen dam was built on the
River Nalkarni for supplying the water to
Ramgarh Cantonment Area and Patratu
Thermal Power Station (PTPS). Patratu Dam

Sisal is a crop that has traditionally been produced on large plantations, which have been quite pleased to
produce sisal fiber exclusively from the land utilized. On such estates the sisal leaves are mostly brought to
central processing facilities where the fiber, comprising only 4% of the harvested leaf is extracted from the leaf
suing wet processes. The waste remaining (96%) is either discarded causing environmental problems to water
tables or used as a mulch in sisal fields.
Sisal (Agave sisalana) is an agave that yields a stiff fiber traditionally used in making twine, rope, wire,
furniture’s, brushes, dartboards, etc.

Germplasm Bank was inaugurated by Former Governor of Jharkhand, Dr Syed Sibtey Razi on 21st December
2006 in the presence of Vice Chancellor Dr N.N. Singh. It contains 120 species of medicinal plants with some
tree species under Department of Forest Products & Utilisation.

Fiber is extracted by a process known as decortication, where leaves are crushed
and beaten by a rotating wheel set with blunt knives, so that only fibers remain.
The leaves are transported to a central decortication plant where water is used
to wash away the waste parts of the leaf.
The fiber is then dried, brushed and baled for export.

Fiber is subsequently cleaned by brushing. Dry fibers are machine combed

Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park, chakla, Ormanjhi, Ranchi is known for its natural habitat, suitable for wild animals. It is the full of natural
sal forest and its associates with magnificent regeneration. The Park is surrounded by a perennial water body, the Rukka Dam. Bhagwan
Birsa Biological Park is one of the major tourist attraction in Jharkhand. It has 1288 animals of 83 species. The breeding of many endangered
and exotic species are success stories of the Parks.
The aims of establishment of national parks and Sanctuaries with the view to-
i. Adequate representation of bio-geographic diversity.
ii. Proper geographic distribution of Park across prominent wilderness belt.
iii. Overcoming management deficiencies in Park.
iv. Promoting corridor value through forests and multiple-use areas that lie between
Park in each wilderness belt.
i. Establishing a monitoring mechanism to access the viability of network of Park.
 The adoption program is a novel way to show our support and care for wild animals.
By adopting our favourite animal, we will contribute towards their feed,
veterinary care and welfare. Adopting an animal is a noble cause not only for us,
but also for our near and dear ones.
