In this essay, I will prove that graduating students in Ontario should only study Canadian literature
in a Grade 12 English course. While good writers exist in all cultures, Ontario students should only

With the store closed Francis was to live without being the centre of southern Foley for the first time

Without knowing Mr. Deyett's financial status, we can pretty much say without fear of contradiction
that he's one of the richest men in Foley.
On October 13, 2003, Francis Deyett left his store for the last time. The loss to Rosseau Road was
palpable, its soul diminished. His passing was noted of course in the North Star and as far a the

Six weeks after Francis's passing, his sister Dorothy, who never married and living not far down the
road, passed away as well down in Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. She had lived a quiet life,

Tori and Coty were river rats, and they had a ton of experience in and around boats by the time they
reached the minimum age of ten when they took the Safe Boating Course and passed the exam to
get their boating licenses. We had a sixteen–foot Polar Craft that was powered by a twenty–five
horsepower Evinrude outboard engine. I'd ride along while Coty practiced handling the boat and
docking.
Two years later Tori had her license and the practice routine was repeated. By this time Coty was
developing an interest in golf in addition to tennis. He took golf lessons from Mike Hebert at the TI
Club, and we allowed him to take the "Blue Boat," as we called it, to his lessons, which entailed
crossing the main channel. Of course Tori wanted the same privileges even though she was younger.
We did allow her to visit her friend Courtney McCullough on Cuba Island a few hundred yards
downriver, but she was not allowed to cross the main channel, as had been the rule with Coty when
he was her age.
One day Peter and I arrived back at the island after teaching, and to our surprise the outboard engine
was lying on the dock with the cover off. I remember saying to Peter, "I can hardly wait to hear this

fighting for their promises from the Canadian government. Francophones and Anglophones were
going through their own kind of assimilation and were concerned that they would lose their identity,
therefore making Francophone and Anglophones schools in a minority setting to help keep their

Colin Ferguson Research Paper
December 7, 1993, Colin Ferguson began to execute passengers randomly on a New York commuter
train (Who is Colin Ferguson, 2017). After killing six passengers and injuring nineteen others, he
was finally subdued by three of the other passengers (Who is Colin Ferguson, 2017).
Colin Ferguson was born January 14, 1959 in Kingston, Jamaica. His father Von Herman was the
managing director for Hercules Agencies, a large pharmaceutical company. Mr. Herman was highly
regarded and recognized as a prominent businessman in Jamaica (Montaldo, 2017). Ferguson had
four brothers and afforded the privileges that wealth offers in an extreme poverty area. He graduated
from Calabar High School in 1969 with a grade average that was ranked in the top third of his class
(Montaldo, 2017). In 1978 his father was killed in a car crash and a short time later his mother died
from cancer. He would then suffer the loss of the family fortune. At 23 years old Ferguson left
Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the U.S. on a Visitor's Visa (Montaldo, 2017). Jamaican culture is
different than American cultures. A study completed in 1997 concerning 225 Jamaican adults, it was
found that Jamaican men were considered coarse, reckless, aggressive, lazy, tough, arrogant, stern,
disorderly, robust, rigid, autocratic, courageous, and hard headed (Carpenter & Walters, 2011). The
only job Ferguson could get were low–paying and menial. He blamed racist Americans for this
problem (Montaldo, 2017). He got married to an American citizen who was also of Jamaican
descent. They soon moved to Long Island but Ferguson continued to be frustrated with reports of
loss of temper and outrage and racial bigotry toward white people who he felt stood in his way
(Montaldo, 2017). In Jamaica he was born into one of the top families in Kingston. Government and
top military members attended his father's funeral but in America he was not given this honor which
appeared to cause him to continue his hatred toward white people (Montaldo, 2017). His marriage
did not last due to his violent nature. Shortly after his divorce Ferguson was injured at work and he
started attending Nassau Community College with a strong academic performance. However, one

Foreign magazine taking up to 89 percent of the magazine industry in Canada is indeed a big blow
to the culture of the land. Americanization is gradually taking over the culture of the people. The
existence of globalization has made it possible and easier for people to unconsciously adapt new
lifestyles. This was one of the fears of the Canadian government at the beginning when she was
introducing taxes on foreign magazine. With globalization evolving at a fast pace the Canadian
government will find it very hard to maintain the culture of the land especially with just 11% of the
market share.
And, if Canadians seem to prefer buying American magazines, shouldn't they be allowed to "vote"
with their purchasing
