Plants and animals are the two main sources of food for humans. Plants provide seeds, fruits, and vegetables which contain nutrients for growth. Seeds from cereals, legumes, and nuts make up the majority of human diets. Fruits are plant ovaries that contain seeds, while vegetables include roots, bulbs, leaves, and stems. Animals directly provide meat from muscle and organs, and indirectly supply milk, eggs, honey, and sometimes blood products. Some cultures and individuals abstain from animal foods for various reasons.
